I Was NOT Disappointed!
I am so glad I picked this toy as my first glass toy. I was anything but disappointed. I will definitely be purchasing more glass toys after my experience with this one!Published: August 24, 2011
Pros:
Felt sturdy, great price, storage bag.
Cons:
I found no cons.
This is the item (out of three that I had ordered) that I was truly looking forward to. The last four days dragged by so slowly as I waited for these to arrive.
After ordering this piece without doing much checking on it, some of the reviews had me really nervous that I had gotten something that was going to be painful. That lasted about ten seconds upon receiving it. Upon arrival, it was in a lovely, thin, velvety bag and was wrapped up tightly in bubble wrap. The Midnight Twist was a wonderful purchase. It was a dark blue color with a white swirly design wrapped around it and five little red bumps/nubs near the curved end. When I ran my hand around it, the white stripes seems to be nothing more than a design. I felt no texture difference in it at all and it seemed to be flush with the item. It is 7 3/4 inches long, a little over one inch diameter, and you can insert it about six inches. It is made from SSA Glass and you can use any lube on it. It weighed a bit more than I thought it would, but I was fine with that. I like a toy that feels sturdy in my hand. Of course, with it being glass, there was no odor at all.
After washing it up, I couldn't wait to try it out, so I jumped on that chance quickly. At first, it seemed a little awkward as I was doing it myself. I put a little water-based lube on it and myself, and slid it in. It went in easily, there was no pulling of the skin like I thought there would be. The tiny bit of lube I used was more than enough for the entire toy. I would like to add here that if you get the lube down too far, it can slip around in your hand, making it hard to do any thrusting. I found that by holding onto the round end and only going in about four inches, I stayed clear from getting the lube all over. It would be good to have a washcloth or towel by the bed in case that should happen, however.
While using it, once I got it turned the correct way, it felt wonderful. I didn't need to do any hard thrusting with it at all. I felt no discomfort or pain. And the little bumps felt good when I tilted it enough to rub the opening around the vagina. However, once I inserted it a bit farther, the nubs weren't felt at all.
When I was finished, I used a warm soapy water to clean it and I let it dry thoroughly before putting it back in the bag. It can also be boiled for a couple of minutes or used with a bleach solution, which you will want to do, especially if you use it for anal. Or you can use rubbing alcohol or toy cleaner/wipes (I bleach anything I can when it comes to anal play).
Although I didn't try any temperature play with it, because it is made of Pyrex glass, it can be dipped in cold or warm water to change the temperature of it. I would not recommend putting in a freezer or microwave, and don't go from one extreme to the other. It could cause it to crack.

Follow-up commentary
4 months after original review
This is still one of my favorite glass toys. I have no problems with it at all. This one will be in my collection for years to come!

glass or pyrex

What's the difference? Pros and cons?
-
Pyrex is just a brand name for tempered glass, or borosilicate glass. It's like using the word "Kleenex" for all facial tissue. Same stuff, same safety rating. :) If you want to see just how safe this material is, check out these videos from Dwtim: link and link and here's a little information from EF's own material safety guide link
It's a really safe and wonderful material. Also, as a side note, I have the Midnight Twist, and it's FANTASTIC! :) -
Not all glass is created equal. I think most glass toys on EF are pretty decent quality, but some I'm sure aren't as safe as pyrex is. Pyrex is designed to break into chunks instead of shattering. It's also less likely to break in the first place.

beginner and new to sex toys
-
I want to know what would be a great beginner dildo for just started out with sex toys.
-
Hey! I think it's great you want to start trying out toys. A few things to consider are whether or not you think you'll like length over girth or girth over length. And then you can move onto the different types of materials.
I, personally, prefer glass or silicone materials as they are non-porous and don't require condoms to keep them bacteria-free. They're a little more expensive, sometimes a lot more expensive but it's really worth it if you think about how many toys you may end up throwing out due to porous materials.
I like non-veined and toys that have veins but aren't overly pronounced with a slim girth. Investing in a good water based lubricant is also a good idea. I like the Sliquid collections.
Everyone is going to suggest different things and it's going to take trial and error before you find something you really like. Out of the dozens of toys I've tried, there are only three or four that I use all of the time. One of those is the Icicles No 17. -

Thanks for the review!
Nice review, but since Pyrex is just that, Pyrex. You can put it in the microwave. But I would recommend heating it or cooling it under warm or cold water!
Thanks for the review!!
i think with it heated up first would feel great
