While the Hand Glass Probe is beautiful and enticing, it also has the decal on the outside, and it does flake some. All the regular features of glass are found, but are outweighed by the fact that the outer decal can flake some.Published: March 15, 2010

I ended up using a condom because the "inking" is on the outside of the toy and I simply didn't trust it enough to be placed in my body.

Update on the Inked issues: After attempting to use this dildo a few times, I opted to throw it away for safety reasons.
I never found out just what the "ink" was made up of, and it continued to flake off as it was washed and used. I did use a condom for my own safety concerns. While it proved to be a great design (albeit totally unoriginal) for g-spotting, the follow through on adding the color to the outer layer of glass made this an uncomfortable toy for me to be willing to insert.

Glass vs. Jelly

Glass looks a lot more comfortable to use, easy to insert, and easy to clean. I feel with jelly it's not like this. Does anybody know of a good glass toy to start with? I've never used one.

I've been thinking about getting a glass dildo for awhile now, but i'm just really not sure. what advice can you offer me.

If you have some very firm toys already that you enjoy, then I think that you'd be good with a glass dildo. For a trial glass toy, you could get one that would also work as a massage stone or a little display sculpture. If you don't know whether you'll like texture, a double-ended one with contrasting textures (one smooth, the other ridged or something) would be good. And go slimmer rather than larger, you can usually accommodate larger soft toys than hard toys. And go easy the first time using the dildo, I remember seeing someone post about possible bruising if you're too...enthusiastic...

I've tried scraping it with my finger nails, but it seems pretty well melted into the glass.

It only comes off if you put scotch tape on it then pull the tape off. In normal use nothing has come off. I've tried chipping the decal off with my fingernail and with a nail file and nothing came off that way.
Plus, the ingredients in the decal are body safe. I don't think there's a problem at all.

Thanks for the warning about the flaking. Maybe the print could be removed completely with something like nail polish remover? That way the toy could still be used.
Hate that it flakes, wouldn't want to buy this for my fiance =/
