It's the Thought that Counts

I wont say that the Feeldoe is not worth it to try out. Rather I'll say that it's not a beginner's toy. This product is great if you have amazing vaginal muscles that can keep it in place. However, if you're anything like me, it's difficult to use. The design and function of the Feeldoe come from the right place, but the actual use of it is really hit or miss.

extremely useful review
By far, the best aspect of the Feeldoe is the ability to have harness-free sex with your partner (be it female-on-female or female-on-male)! Using the Feeldoe enables you to have great sex without having to strap something on to yourself, which can waste time and kill the mood. Feeldoe is innovative in the way that it is designed for female pleasure to be taken to a new level-rather than having what some call one-sided sex. The Feeldoe allows for mutual pleasure that is hard to come by with any other dildo.

Now for the bad news, the Feeldoe, while great in concept, is not so great in execution. The larger end (meant to be inserted into the "giving" partner's vagina) is quite large, even on the Feeldoe slim. I say this as a girl who can take a lot, fisting included. For those who are looking for a smaller dildo, I would suggest sticking to the receiving end of the Feeldoe, which is the only side I would really call "slim." Another downside to the Feeldoe is the fact that it is rather difficult to keep in place when in use. The Feeldoe feels AMAZING when put in properly, but keeping it in is very difficult if you have not been doing your daily kegel exercises. For me, the "giving" end frequently falls out during use, and sometimes I have to resort to holding it in place, with my hand, to finish the job. On the same note, I have found the Feeldoe to only be useful in the missionary position. Any other position allows the Feeldoe to fall right out of both the giver and receiver, which is very frustrating for both involved.

A plus side to the Feeldoe is its GREAT use as a solo dildo! The larger end acts as a perfect handle/grip for masturbation with the small end. Or if you want a fuller feeling, or more g-spot contact, you can grip the small end and masturbate with the larger end inside of you for an equally pleasurable time.

In terms of feeling and physical use, the Feeldoe is smooth, glides easily inside the anus or vagina with a little lube (water-based only!), and is 100% silicone. Therefore it is safe to use in any orifice. If you are switching orifices or partners, I recommend using a condom so you don't have to pause to clean the dildo in between. The Feeldoe is also exceptionally easy to clean. You can wash by hand, in the dishwasher, or boil it. It doesn't collect much dust or lint like other dildos do. However, I must note that because it is 100% silicone, the Feeldoe is quite firm, hard even. It is slightly flexible, but mostly rigid. I wouldn't suggest using it orally, as it will not be easy on your mouth.

Finally, the Feeldoe does come with a mini-bullet that is inserted into the back of the dildo. However, the density of the silicone greatly weakens the vibrations. Personally, I removed the vibe and use it as a standalone, discreet vibe for when I want to masturbate.
Experience
Here's a side story! I originally bought my Feeldoe in 2007 as a joint purchase with my girlfriend. J. J and I had been dating for a while, and were really interested in buying a dildo so that we would "try new things." Being the 18-year-old, feminist, socially-conscious lesbians that we were (are), we wanted something that would give us mutual pleasure, free us from societal rules, blah, blah. Anyway, we bought the Feeldoe, tried it out, and loved it. It was an amazing experience...except for the whole "It keeps falling out!" and "Well, put it back in," moments. It was quite silly using it, and though we've graduated on to many, many more toys since, we still break out this bad girl occasionally for some fun. I love my Feeldoe for all that it attempts to be, but as my experience with it reminds me, it's really not all that amazing to use. It's a great design with good intentions, just a little poor in the execution area. But hey, it's the thought that counts with this baby.

Great review! I know I have decent vaginal muscles but no way does the Feeldoe stay in place for me w/o a harness. Just prior to orgasm, it will pop out of my vagina so a harness is necessary.
The Feeldoe design is a great concept but it needs work. I too find it too rigid to peg my b/f.

The Feeldoe was one of the original strapless designs, so a later one (Mantric Sysil:Edge or, probably best of all for the beginner, Fun Factory Share family) seems to require a bit less "work" on the giver's side to keep it in place.

The bulb end is the same size on all the Feeldoes, and I believe the bigger bulb was an intentional choice to make it easier to hold in (though it still requires pelvic muscles). The Nexus series (another 1st-gen product) has a smaller giver's end but stays in without a harness on only a few people.

Thanks for the review! The F-F couple reviews are really helpful for me. I'm still considering getting that toy, although it's good to know that the 'holding' end falls out a lot.
