I forgot to mention in my review that both my boyfriend and I strap it on with this toy. We've been using the terra firma dee harness without the removable "padding." This harness works for the toy although it's not my favorite harness. I recently purchased the spare parts harness and am very excited/interested to see how it works with Nexus Sr. I think with the shape of this toy, you could possibly use it without a harness... hmm. so many options for just one toy.

I have done this for a couple years and have not had any problems, so I imagine that as long as your toys are not being shared with multiple people this would be plenty sanitary enough.

I also just wash my toys in soap and water. I have some boilable ones, but have never felt the need to do that, since my husband and I are the only ones who may be using them.
There are toy cleaners for sale, but they may cause irritation in some people.
