Johnny Thrives on Competition - "That one's is a keeper!"
In a world crowded with contenders, VixSkin Johnny is a standout product. If you could only keep one dildo in your dresser - this might very well be the one you'd choose. I know the price is high - but there is enough value here to justify the cost. I expect to get way more than 100 orgasms out of this toy - so ask yourself if you'd pay a $1 for an orgasm in a world of $10 lattes!Published: February 28, 2011
Pros:
Superior quality and feel. The soft girth makes Johnny an absolute keeper.
Cons:
Could use a little more texture and a little more length.
Let me say right up front the quote in the title "That one's is a keeper!" was my girl's response after just the 1st try. This is not her usual response - typically it's something like "We'll see". So having tipped my hand, let me tell you some of the reasons why we give the VixSkin Johnny 5-stars.
Oh Johnny - what a journey! First I had to decide if paying $99 for VixSkin version is worth the extra cost vs. the original Johnny made of conventional silicone for just $70 (now on sale for $56). My wife answered that question one night when she complained that our Tantus Maverick is too hard - VixSkin it would be!
Next I had to choose between the very highly rated Lone Star vs. Johnny. In spite of many respected reviewers recommending the Lone Star - I opted for Johnny because of his pronounced g-spot curve.
Then when Johnny finally arrived - it was time for the real competition to commence! It was the new kid on the block vs. an improved Tantus Maverick (prior review link) that I had drilled out and added a vibrator to (see the mods here link) and the cheap - but very effective Crystal Jellies Ballsy Royal (prior review link).
I figured a picture of the trio would help you visualize my comparative review - but I haven't had much luck formatting pictures for display - but here's a link to a picture on Photobucket: link
There is apparently no way to do a table - so here's me 2nd try at presenting the comparison:
Tantus Maverick
Advantages; High quality silicone, Girthy - but smooth, Added vibrator is useful
Disadvantages; Hard - old-style silicone, too straight not easy to hit the g-spot, still too hard
Crystal Jellies Ballsy Royal
Advantages; Girthy sumptuous soft feel, well formed head & stimulating texture, Good length for a-spot stimulation
Disadvantages; Reeks of cheap jelly plasticizer, ridge can hit the pelvic bone, no g-spot curve, no need to add vibe - but I might for fun!
VixSkin Johnny
Advantages; Girthy sumptuous soft feel, pronounced g-spot curve, large enough for a vibe retrofit but do I dare drill a 5/8" hole in a $100 toy?
Disadvantages; Minimal texture, barely long enough for a-spot stimulation
As you can tell we like all three - but she loves Johnny! If it were textured like the Crystal Jellies and was about 1/2" longer it would be perfect! The bottom line is that Johnny feels the most realistic except that it provides the girth that so few of us have. There is an EF question around asking what is more important to a woman - length or girth - by far girth was the winner in that poll is girth at 64% followed by both another 33% - only 3% voted for length link.
So the bottom line is Johnny gives her the girth that I cannot - I'm just glad she doesn't have to go off the reservation to fill the desire!
I don't cover much about the mundane - but here it is; the dimensions are as advertised, it arrived on time, packaging was adequate, clean-up is a snap - and there is no doubt the first time you pick it up the quality is outstanding. With reasonable care I expect Johnny to be giving my girl orgasms for many years to come.
It's too big for either of us to consider taking it anally but the materials and balls make it safe to do so - although it's pretty soft and it may prove hard to get in unless your already opened up and relaxed.
If I've left anything out - I'll be checking your comments and will add whatever you need.

Experience
For the larger and firmer silicone dildos out there I have to make sure to open her up gently through a ton of foreplay - something I love to do - but time isn't always on our side.
Since the kids have gotten older my wife has grown fond of being more vocal during orgasm - as have I. The first night out for Johnny we were getting in a relative quickie before our daughter came home from work. So after getting her to relax a bit I lubed up Johnny and he slid in smooth and easy - the soft texture of the VixSkin makes it behave smaller than it is. Once inside Johnny hits all the right spots and in no time I'm crashing the shaft balls deep with nothing left to give! All of the other dildos have 1/2-1" 'left over' when they are inside to the maximum she finds comfortable. I may have to take the advise of several guys on EF recommending the VixSkin Outlaw - stay tuned!

Follow-up commentary
3 months after original review
There should be a choice for "We love it more now than we did before!"
The VixSKin material is luxurious. In spite of Johnny's ample size it is very comfortable. I had read many reviews that recommended the Lone Star over Johnny because Johnny is 'too floppy'.
We couldn't be happier we chose the Johnny instead. The curve of Johnny is great for women who love deep A-spot stimulation. We even found that turning Johnny so that it points down gave my wife great PFE-zone (posterior fornix erogenous zone) orgasms as well.
I cannot be more emphatic about how much we love this toy. If she wants something hard it's the Njoy Eleven - if its something soft 98% of the time its Johnny.
Buy one as quickly as you can!

Vixskin color
-
thecookiemonsterI was looking at the vanilla versions of vixskin dildos and they all seem to have a slightly different tone. Is that just the pictures? The goodfella for example looks way lighter than the johnny. I'm not sure, I have very fair skin and want it to match nicely, the lighter the better! Any experiences from people who own multiple vixskin dildos? -
We have the Johnny in chocolate because we like contrast more than 'matching'. Part of it that you can never really match anyway. Happy hunting.
-
thecookiemonsterThat is true! But I might go for the vanilla anyway.. just want it to be as realistic as possible. everyone says the material feels awesome! I wish they would make the vixskin dildos in other colors than "flesh" and purple though... just to be able to mix it up a bit!
Supercurious about my first vixskin dick, quite exciting!

Harnesses?
-
I'm shopping for a silicone dildo with balls, as well as a harness. The Johnny Vixskin measurement and detailing both appeal to me but a reviewer brought it to my awareness that for harness wear, you have to use a four point harness rather than a three point harness for obvious reasons (you can't clip at the bottom where the balls are). Looking through harnesses, it still seems to me like it's tricky for even most four point harnesses to accommodate the scrotum in between them. The harness I've been looking at is the Tantus Velvet harness that is included in the bend over beginner kit. But I want to make sure that these purchases will get along without a hitch. Can anyone speak from experience?

The Jaguar will confortably take them as well. Most jock-style harnesses will.

Thank you for viewing Johnny VixSkin – dildo review page!

wow, you're the only one commenting on not enough texture, you must really like texture!!!
Toysforall - I'm not sure what your referring to. I don't believe I complained about anything. We love the toy and are happy with every aspect of it..
Great review! Unfortunately your pic has been removed from photobucket. I'm guess I can expect the same to happen to my Goodfella Jim pics.
Thanks for the heads on the pic.
I read in your Outlaw review that Johnny is at 1.75" in diameter and he tapers down. I've got an o2 Adam which is around 1 5/8" in diameter which think tests my limits a little.. do you think the squish of the Vixskin will make Johnny a viable choice for me?
Would this be a good "first" dildo for us? I'm currently using 1 1/2" vibrators but am working up to a 2" toy that we just got. (Wow - I didn't realize how much difference that 1/2" makes!)
I would love to get a Vixskin dildo as our first one based on reviews I've read by you and others.
Thanks for the review
