extremely useful review
There's a lot to be said for the Ella, and much of it has been said many times before. It all stands as a testament to the quality of this exquisite toy-- she has lovers far and wide, and is something of a celebrity here on EdenFantasys.

Ella is easily one of the more elegant silicone toys. Smooth and sleek, and with a simple yet ingenious design. The straight end is meant for simple penetration, and is tapered to a slightly rounded point so that there's no unpleasant jabbing sensations. The opposite end is intended to stimulate the g-spot, and while I myself still need practice in this area, the testaments of so many other users of the Ella leave no question that she is an expert in this activity as well.

She has a very firm construction. The neck of the g-spot end is reasonably flexible, but the penetration end is largely immobile. The tip can be bent slightly with a little force, but that's it. The texture is velvety, and feels good even just to the fingers. You can spend a good while just running your hands along the Ella and not get tired of the feel. The texture produces a bit of drag, which can be remedied with a small amount of lube if drag isn't your cup of tea. Since this is a silicone toy, be sure to only use water-based lubes. The silicone material can be cleaned any number of ways: bleaching, boiling, putting it in the dishwasher (top rack), soap & water, or a special toy cleaner. Cleanliness should not be anything even resembling an issue with the Ella.

What I've found to be the Ella's most alluring feature is one that I haven't seen mentioned yet: her use as a dilating tool for a tiny passage. I don't know how many women out there are like myself, but my vagina is very, very tight. A smooth plastic toy with a 1" diameter fits snugly and stretches my opening a little bit. The Ella, despite largely being praised as beginner-friendly, intimidated me slightly with her girth of a quarter-inch thicker than what I'm used to. On top of which, she is not a vibrator, so I couldn't use the rumbling to dull any ensuing pain.

I was determined though, and the Ella's friendly, gentle appearance bolstered my resolve. Lo and behold, with some lube and a little patience, I was successful in getting her all the way in. Like a sweet friend who has only just confessed her desire for you, the Ella is completely willing to go at your pace, and fervently apologizes for any pain she causes you. This is a toy I'd recommend for anyone who shares my tightness and would like to do something, even a small something, about it. On that note, however, I must play the therapist and say that you should never force a stretch you truly don't feel ready for. After all, self-stimulation is all about loving yourself, and nothing less.

I've only had my Ella for a short time, but she's already a favorite. I still have some pain inserting her, but this has begun to fade. I still need lube to use her though, and I've yet to really get at my own G-spot (or, if I have, I just haven't hit it the right way for me... yet). Interestingly, the G-spot end is easier to insert than the straight end.

Is she wonderful? Yes. Is she beginner-friendly? Very. Is she worth all the hype? I'd certainly say so. The Ella's multiple uses, elegant appearance, body-safe material, and affordable price tag make her one of the most worthwhile toys on the market today. Go ahead and try her for yourself. You won't regret it.
Follow-up commentary
Looking up at the original review, I'm a little embarrassed by it. I think it's because I was a little quick in many of my assessments - I was relatively new to toys and starry-eyed at having such a popular one. But I should have taken more time, and learned a few more things, before reviewing. For a few months after this was written, I only used Ella a handful of times.

That's right, dear Ella and I almost had a falling out. While it's true she gave me the confidence to go up a little in size, I couldn't use her without experiencing some pain, and it was very frustrating. She ended up sitting for a full month untouched. So when it came time for a follow-up review, I was almost ready to give her a more critical assessment, but I decided to give her one more shot, just to be fair.

I think there were two faults of my own that attributed to the earlier pain: one was that I wasn't willing to try warming up a little before using any toys, and the other was that, if I used lube at all, it would only be a teeny-tiny amount. Between my original review and now, I've learned that warm-up and lube can make everything so much nicer.

With both lubricant and a small amount of stretching out with my fingers beforehand, Ella and I played painlessly together for the first time... and several more times throughout the day. She now rests at the top of my toy box rather than buried under all my other toys. So I liked her, then didn't, now I love her.

It seems like a lot of folks deal with Ella issues, but come to love her in the end as you do. I'm going through that process with her myself right now. Thanks for the review.

Wonderful review, Nire. I had never thought of Ella as a dilation tool but, stopping to think about it, it really sounds perfect! I'm glad you were able to come around and love her.

  • ella vs. others
    • I want to get ella as my first she doesn't seem as menacing as the others made of glass or metal but are those materials better sensation wise?
    • It comes down to personal preference, really. You're not going to know if glass or metal feels better to you until you try.

A couple things to keep in mind, though: glass and metal have absolutely no give, so they tend to feel bigger than silicone toys of the same size. They're also rather heavy in most cases, and so you need to be a bit more careful when you use them. Being too rough can result in internal bruising. They're very slick and smooth, though, unlike silicone which typically has some drag to it.

The Ella is pretty rigid for a silicone toy, but it's very light and easy to use. It's great if you're new to dildos. :)

I have not tried anything like that I hear alot of good things and alot of not so good things. its up to you to try and see what you prefer..

  • How Does Lelo Ella compare to Gigi?
    • I know that Ella doesn't vibrate, but are there many other differences? I am wondering whether the Ella might be a better shape or size for g-spot stimulation
    • i'm wondering this too. i bought gigi and was disappointed but ella seems even better should I or shouldn't I?

  • Would the Ella work well for a beginner?
    • I'm thinking of getting my bestfriend this for Christmas but she is new to toys. Would this be a good toy to give a newbie? I have not tried it myself so I'm not sure how easy it is to master.
    • I have the similarly shaped Gigi and found nothing but frustration when trying to thrust with it.
    • i think it would be a good option for a beginner.

  • I need help the Ella curve is doing me in.
    • I am not sure what I am doing wrong. I have read every review and some twice. I can not figure this girl out. I want to write a review but, how can I write a review on something I do not get. Any ideas would be wonderful. Please help me enjoy this beautiful toy.
    • What do you not get about it? Not every toy works for every woman. Does it hurt to use? Maybe your vagina is too small for it yet or maybe you just need some lube. Do you not feel anything? Again, nothing is for everyone. Try sqeezing the toy by doing kegels when you use it. Some women say that makes things feel better. Or maybe try tilting it up towards your g-spot. That works for me with other toys.

I haven't used it yet. Just recently purchased a white Ella. And I can't wait! We've got the same name! :D
    • If you don't get it you can still write your review from that perspective. I'm sure you wouldn't be the only one who had that experience with it. I have the Ella and she's nice but she's not fireworks for me and that's ok. We all have different experiences with toys and that is what makes these reviews so valuable.

  • Dildo vs. Vibrator
    • I am having a hard time getting used to the idea of a dildo vs. a vibrator! As far as using one goes, how does one decide which is better for oneself? Just wondering and thanks!
    • Quote: I am having a hard time getting used to the idea of a dildo vs. a vibrator! As far as using one goes, how does one decide which is better for oneself? Just wondering and thanks!
What I mean by this I think is, is it easier with one than the other, or maybe does it require a different mind set or even is one better with partner play vs. solo? I don't know, LOL, just curious.
    • When we started with toys it was all about clit vibes for 'effective' reliable orgasms. But as we got into g-spot and a-spot stimulation, dildos have advantages over vibes because pressure is more important than vibes.

Now we almost always have some of both going on. A dildo for internal and a clit vibe for external - although she occasionally likes two vibes.

The only truism I've found is that what she wants/needs is different almost every time. I use to think 'this worked last time - so lets do it again' - but now I think 'we did that last time - what can I do to mix things up'.

That's why we have dozens of toys - both vibes and dildos.

  • Ella for beginners
    • Hey! I was just wondering if Ella would be something an absolute beginner could use, someone who's never gone looking for her g-spot before. She seems awfully tempting, but I wonder if I it's too advanced a toy for me?

Ella is perfect for beginners. I had tried several other G-spot toys before Ella. Ella was the first one that worked for me. Several people have had their first successes with Ella.

I'm glad Ella seems like such a successful toy! I hope she works for me, too <3

  • Ella and Gigi
    • I've had both the Ella and the Gigi sitting in my shopping cart for days now. I was wondering.. should I get them both, or should I maybe just get one to try, then maybe later on get the other if I want?

They both seem so worth it, it's hard to just pick one!

I just bought the Ella and have not tried it yet, but everyone seems to love it. I have had the GiGi for a couple of months and rarely use it, mainly because the control thing is located in the worst possible spot, and I invariably hit it and make the settings change! Argh! I also had no luck with it for g-spot stimulation, and the only times I get it out it is for clit work.

Even though I wasn't crazy about GiGi, it seems to do the job for a lot of people, so it might work for you. In fact, I bought it based on all the wonderful reviews. I've come to the conclusion that there is no one toy that will do the trick for everyone. Everyone is VERY different in their tastes and what they need.
    • I agree that no toy is good for everyone. I can not get a rabbit vibe that actually works for me by stimulating my clit and vag at the same time. Perhaps its operator error.
Anyway, I love the Gigi. I solved the control issue for me anyway by wiping the lube off the control and my fingers...success. The effectiveness of the Gigi is the vibe plus the design. I don't have the Ella, which is not a vibe but I see it as similar to many of the g spot dils available.
