Maverick VixSkin - Phenomenal Toy and Epic Pleasure (...if you can handle it.)

The VixSkin material really lives up to the promise. If you can handle the substantial size, the Maverick model will deliver some mind scrambling, body shaking orgasms. While not a practical dildo when you consider the time and effort needed to properly use this, the Maverick should be in the sex toy arsenal of any woman who can handle the size and wants something that she can grab toward the end of a lengthy session to give herself an epic and fulfilling finish.

Pros
Feels very real. No odor. Not overly realistic shape. Good conductor of heat. Filling size.
Cons
Size may be too large for many. Ridges and size might interfere with vigorous thrusting.

extremely useful review
Historically, my wife has had very little interest in internal stimulation with toys. Instead, she preferred concentrating on vibrating stimulation of her clit. After going up the ladder of power from cheap little vibrators from the local drug or department store, she's finally found the perfect external vibrator (at least for her): the venerable Hitachi Magic Wand. We've used the Magic Wand in just about every possible manner, so the thought was to revisit internal stimulation - this time combined with use of the Magic Wand - to see if there was anything that could be added to her orgasms.

The first foray in this area was a Johnny Hazzard Sensafirm dildo - pretty much a failure. The roughness, odor and coldness of this toy (and, to a lesser extent, the balls) turned her off. The lone positives that came from this experiment were that I could tell that using a dildo (just not this dildo) with the Magic Wand on her clit would heighten her orgasm, and I confirmed that she could handle with relative ease a toy of this pretty substantial size (7.5" x 1.75").

Our next experiment was with an Icicles No. 21, which I previously reviewed. It was a major hit. However, the firmness of the glass seemed to lend itself more toward external stimulation and g-spot stimulation, which my wife likes isolated from clitoral stimulation.

So with the knowledge gained from the two dildos, I set off to find a smoother, odor-free, silicone dildo without balls, and with the ability to better hold heat. And because I'm a guy and we're infatuated with pushing the limits, something larger than the 1.75" thickness I knew she could handle, but nothing so huge that it would offend my wife. Prior to making my selection, I read a lot of the EF reviews and knew I wasn't going to let cost factor into the decision. In my mind, I had one more shot. After that, my wife would probably tell me to keep the penis shaped, non-glass dildos away from her. I wasn't going to let an impulse purchase or desire to save a few bucks screw this up.

I chose the pricey VixSkin Maverick, which has the official specs of 7" x 2". I liked that the shape wasn't 100% realistic, that the dimensions fit my criteria, and I really liked that the reviews consistently said the VixSkin material was safe, odor-free, with a smooth exterior but firm core, and gathered and retained heat well. The only question marks in my mind were the extra ridge below the head of the toy and the thickness. Short of these two variables being a problem, I figured I'd hang up the idea of getting her to use a non-glass dildo if this proved a failure like the Sensafirm toy.

So how has it worked out? Really, really, really, well. As to the unique qualities of this particular toy, the material is great and definitely worth the investment. I consider it a very good value when you compare it to most of the other dildos out there, which are either made of cheap, unsafe, uncomfortable, distracting materials OR are safe with varying degrees of natural feeling but are prone to tearing and require a lot of special care. Like other reviewers, we've found the VixSkin material to be borderline freakishly-natural in feeling, not susceptible to tearing with minimal care requirements, odor-free, and a good conductor of heat (throw it in a heating pad for 20-30 minutes ahead of time and you're good to go). If they could get rid of the bit of the drag you feel when there is no lube on it and the lint attracting qualities, the material would be as close to perfect as I can imagine for a life-like dildo.

The jury is still out on the prominent second ridge below the head. It doesn't cause my wife to NOT enjoy the toy, but I'm still not sure whether it adds anything to the experience. It probably won't be a plus (although maybe not a negative) if you like a dildo for lots of fast, furious and long-stroke penetration. However, if you like to use a dildo this way, for the reason to be discussed below, the ridge probably won't be the main reason why this toy may not work for you. As to our personal experience with the ridge, I think we'll get a better feeling for this over time.
Experience
Now we come to the ever-important S-I-Z-E of the toy. This is a pretty big toy. It is listed at 7" x 2". Based on my measurements, the insertable length is 7" and 8" including the base (which, surprisingly, does work okay as a suction cup on the tub/shower). While the tip of the soft head measured closer to 1.75" for me, the rest of the toy was pretty darn close to 2" all the way from the ridge of the head to the base. There is no real tapering that would permit you to really ease into it or even use part of it if it proved to be too large. This thickness will either cause this dildo to work for you or not - there is no real middle ground. I gave this a lot of thought before I plopped down my $$$. I ultimately reasoned that she should be able to handle it because she handled the hard, rough 1.75" Sensafirm toy and the 1.5" glass head on the Icicles No. 21 with not a lot of problems; she's had kids; and, I knew from other reviews that the squishiness of the outer layer would make this feel thinner than the advertised 2".

In use I've learned that this size is the absolute max that she can use and still enjoy (until the VixSkin Randy proves otherwise!). I have to get her really worked up, use the glass dildo on her for awhile, work the dildo in very slowly with lots of warm lube (we're fans of Pjur Aqua) by simply putting a constant, firm pressure on the base and letting her body slowly adjust, and use the Magic Wand on her clit pretty consistently. However, with this extra time and effort, she can handle most of the toy. And as she orgasms, she can take the entire 7" length of this 2" diameter inside of her (totally hot!). But just as quickly as she finishes, it starts to hurt her a bit and needs to immediately come back out.

Also, while it's in there, there's really no room for vigorous movement - just a stationary feeling of fullness or some very minimal stroking. For this reason, I do not recommend this toy if you are looking for lots of vigorous movement or a dildo to use for those more routine sessions when you don't have a lot of time to warm-up, unless you are a certified size queen. Instead, I'd recommend looking for something thinner in the VixSkin line to fill this need.

Having said this, if you want to simply enjoy the feeling of being totally filled with something that feels like the real thing when you orgasm through clitoral stimulation and can handle something that feels just slightly smaller than 2" in diameter, THIS IS THE TOY FOR YOU! This has worked exactly as I hoped. While we only use it when we have the time to commit to the necessary warm-up, my wife has the most massive orgasms with the Magic Wand on her clit and this inside of her. Think "involuntary-powerful-guttural-noises-that-last-well-after-the-orgasm-ends" and "can't-stop-thinking-about-that-orgasm-for-days-and-days" kind of orgasms.

This is our least favorite Vixskin dildo, both because we found it's too big to enjoy during pegging and also because we love realistic dildos and like you said, it's not very realistic. Thanks for a great review.
