The Aveline's head is large enough to create a pleasant sense of friction upon penetration, making it a good all-around dildo. The shaft's curve is pronounced enough to do a very nice job of g-spot stimulation, making it a good g-spot dildo as well.

At just under 1.5" in diameter, the Aveline falls smack dab in the middle of the average size category. It certainly makes its presence felt during penetration, but this is not the dildo that is going to fill you up. By the same token, it's also wide enough that penetration can easily be felt, and you're not left scratching your head asking yourself if something just happened there.

It could be used for external anal stimulation, but only with caution. Because there is no flared base at the bottom of the dildo, anal insertion is not recommended.

The Aveline is made from ceramic, making it very hard, durable, and completely non-porous. The external glazing lends a gorgeous sheen to the dildo, and creates a slippery surface that is compatible with all types of lubricants. The silicone button on the bottom of the dildo ensures that the toy is waterproof. Be sure to keep the button on the toy, however. While the external portion of the Aveline is non-porous, the inside is not.

When using the dildo, you'll find that the ceramic warms quickly to your body temperature. Because the material retains heat and cold so well, it's ideal for temperature play. The manufacturer cautions against placing the dildo in the microwave and/or the freezer. You should also avoid dramatic temperature changes. Changing the temperature by placing it under the faucet for a minute or so, though, is perfectly fine.

The design is a happy medium between g-spot and classic dildo. The curve is certainly pronounced, but you have to combine that curve with some angling during penetration to reach the g-spot. It doesn't reach the sweet spot and stay there on its own accord. It does, however, reach the g-spot easily. It's not automatic, but the angles and the size of the head fit very nicely.

The girth and the stimulation that comes from the Aveline's shaft go a long way towards compensating for the perfectly average g-spot stimulation. It's that combination that makes the Aveline shine. G-spot stimulation is combined with the stimulation of the vaginal opening and it's a genuinely winning combination.

As stated above, the roughly 1.5" diameter makes this a middle of the road dildo in terms of width. It can be easily felt, but it not filling in that way that the larger dildos can be. Given how uncompromising the ceramic material is, I'd say that's a good thing.

The one room for improvement on the design, is in the area for gripping on to the shaft. The 8.25" length allows ample room for a grip even with full penetration. The quality of the grip, though, is hit and miss. The same slick surface that allows the Aveline such an easy penetration, means that slippery fingers can struggle to keep hold of the dildo. It's not an insurmountable problem, but certainly a weakness in the overall design.

As a dildo that can be used for both standard and g-spot stimulation, the Aveline is excellent. Penetration feels very nice, the dildo hits the g-spot with a bit of angling, and the length is sufficient for easy and full thrusting.

The only drawback is, as mentioned above, that the slipperiness of the ceramic works wonders internally, but makes it difficult to get a solid grip on the toy with slippery hands. This can be easily worked around by simply wiping your hands off after applying lubricant, but before beginning any sort of thrusting motions.

Be kind to the Aveline. The ceramic material is durable under normal conditions, but it can be chipped if hit at the wrong angle. Be sure to inspect your Aveline for any cracks or chips before each use. If it is chipped, it's recommended that you no longer use the dildo.

The Aveline comes with a soft, black storage bag that provides some cushioning. Avoid storing it where it might get hit by other toys.

Cleaning can be done with regular soap or water. If you're particularly concerned about the spread of germs or are sharing the dildo, you can also wash it with toy cleaner, antibacterial soap, or soak it in a 10% bleach solution.

The Aveline is compatible with all lubricants.

The toy's packaging is very elegant and makes it perfect for a gift. The dildo rests in black foam in a very understated black box. It comes with its own storage bag and a small instruction booklet.
