There's a reason glass toys are so popular. They're amazing for g-spot stimulation, require very little upkeep, and are beautiful. This toy is no exception. For the amazing price, it delivers an amazing experience.

Use

The Midnight Twist is a beautiful glass dildo with an interesting swirl pattern and nubs on the bottom of the toy. The dildo has a tapered end and a bulbed end, which make it perfect for g-spot stimulation. The curve on the tapered end is slight, meaning it can reach the g-spot very well, but can still be used for comfortable, deeper penetration. The bulbed end is straight. While the bulb can be used for g-spot stimulation, it will not be as direct as a curved end. Because this toy is a bit on the longer side, I would advise against deeper penetration, as this may bruise the cervix.

This toy can be enjoyed anally because of the length and easily gripped base, but I would advise against deep anal penetration because of the lack of a substantial flare. While the nubs on the shaft of the toy may be highly stimulating to some, they may be uncomfortable for others. To ease comfort, use a good lube with this so that the nubs are a lot easier on the places for insertion.

This is also a great toy for couples. Glass is incredibly beautiful and non-threatening. When using with a partner, make sure to communicate so that they don't thrust to hard and bruise your cervix. Let them know what feels best for you. Glass also has an amazing ability to retain temperatures very well. You can run this under hot or cold water, or stick it in the fridge, and be able to enjoy the sensation for an extended period of time.

Material / Texture

Glass is one of the most resilient materials out there. Nothing else compares to the beauty, strength, or durability of it. Glass is incredibly smooth which makes it need minimal lubrication to glide easily. It is also compatible with all types of lubricants and other materials, such as condoms or toy covers. It can be shared and santized.

The overall texture of this piece is smooth. The swirls are inlaid in the glass and not textured. There are a few little bumps on that run down the shaft that can offer additional stimulation. Because of these bumps, a little extra lube may be needed. It is advised to make sure that the bumps glide very well, because they may irritate non-lubricated areas. The bumps remind me of genital piercings in a penis because they give the same effect.

Design / Shape / Size

The entire dildo is 7 3/4" long. It is 1 3/4" in diameter. Compared to other dildos, this one has a very average size to it, but it performs amazingly. The tapered end caresses the g-spot, but doesn't have the extreme curve that others do. This is great for those who find the extreme curves uncomfortable. The bulbed end is also great for g-spot stimulation, or providing a good full feeling. The 11 oz. weight of this glass dildo allows it to be thrusted with very little fatigue. The ball end is a very ergonomic handle, and allows you to get a comfortable grip on the toy.

The toy comes with a velvety pouch, as all toys from SSA glass do. The pouch is not padded, so I would make sure to wrap this in some plushy cloth before travel. The pouch is very discreet and will help to store your toy and keep it from scratches.

Performance

I normally have preferred g-spot toys to have vibration to them. That all changed when I started using glass. It simulates just as much as vibrations do, in my experience. The super smooth texture, weight, and rigidity of the glass allow for out of this world g-spot love. This toy doesn't compare to the Amethyst in terms of direct g-spot contact, but it is still perfect. The Amethyst is thinner and has much more of a curve, while this has more of a filling feeling.

The bumps on the toy are a little interesting. I hadn't used a toy with this design, but I found that it provided an extra sensation to the vaginal opening.

Care and Maintenance

Glass is incredibly easy to take care of. It is very easy to wash. All you have to do is give it a good go in some warm water with some soap. Because the material is slick, it does not take much time to get it sparkling clean. Glass toys are dishwasher safe and can be sanitized by boiling. The velvet pouch is included for travel or general storage and will help keep your toy free of dings or scratches.
    • Easy to clean
    • Easy to store

Packaging

This toy did not have any packaging other than the velvet bag and the bubble wrap that the toy itself was wrapped in.

Follow-up commentary
I think I like looking at this thing more than I like using it. It's just so pretty! I love having this in my collection of pretty glass pieces. It's great to use when I'm not really in the mood for the Amethyst, or I want to use glass with a partner. It's my second most-used glass piece I have.

I think they must have changed the design of this toy because if I recall, all the other reviews say that the white swirls are raised and quite uncomfortable but the one I just got is also completely smooth.
Also they seem to be giving out lower quality pouches now.

Nice review As potstickers said, I think the older version had swirls on the outside (which I think I would have liked).

Yeah, the pictures would lead you to believe that. No texture other than the bumps. In some pictures the bumps are clear, in others they are red.

Great job on the review! Just the only thing, you'll want to wait 2 months to do a follow up review unless your toy breaks or malfunctions. Not much will change in six days of your review, so that is why it recommends two months!

  • glass or pyrex
    • What's the difference? Pros and cons?
    • Pyrex is just a brand name for tempered glass, or borosilicate glass. It's like using the word "Kleenex" for all facial tissue. Same stuff, same safety rating. :) If you want to see just how safe this material is, check out these videos from Dwtim: link and link and here's a little information from EF's own material safety guide link

It's a really safe and wonderful material. Also, as a side note, I have the Midnight Twist, and it's FANTASTIC! :)
    • Not all glass is created equal. I think most glass toys on EF are pretty decent quality, but some I'm sure aren't as safe as pyrex is. Pyrex is designed to break into chunks instead of shattering. It's also less likely to break in the first place.

  • beginner and new to sex toys
    • I want to know what would be a great beginner dildo for just started out with sex toys.
    • Hey! I think it's great you want to start trying out toys. A few things to consider are whether or not you think you'll like length over girth or girth over length. And then you can move onto the different types of materials.

I, personally, prefer glass or silicone materials as they are non-porous and don't require condoms to keep them bacteria-free. They're a little more expensive, sometimes a lot more expensive but it's really worth it if you think about how many toys you may end up throwing out due to porous materials.

I like non-veined and toys that have veins but aren't overly pronounced with a slim girth. Investing in a good water based lubricant is also a good idea. I like the Sliquid collections.

Everyone is going to suggest different things and it's going to take trial and error before you find something you really like. Out of the dozens of toys I've tried, there are only three or four that I use all of the time. One of those is the Icicles No 17.
