Midnight Marauder
This dildo is shaped so that the G spot is pretty difficult to miss and the firmness of the silicone allows necessary pressure to be applied. The sensations on the G- spot are intense and it certainly can help to pillage the spoils of it. It works very nicely in a session with other toys, but as a one stop toy I didn’t find it to provide many different kinds of good sensations.Published: February 22, 2010
Pros:
Intense stimulation targeted to the G-spot.
Cons:
Lint, and learning curve.
The Ella is a thoughtfully designed double ended dildo (for one person use), with some pretty sleek lines. It has a tapered traditional end and a curved end for g spotting. The curved G spot end is my end of preference and though it looks smallish, it fills me up nicely. Honestly I really I don’t see the value in the tapered end; it is uncomfortable for me to use because of the rather strange angles on the shaft. That end is in fact quite girthy feeling, but only along a middle ridge, which I find unsatisfying, and if it slips over to a different angle it just feels plain weird, so I will leave the discussion of that end here.
The Ella is made of medical grade silicone, which is nonporous and therefore very good from the perspective of hygiene, as well as being phthalates free. Just soap and water will clean Ella or you can also pop it in the dishwasher. You can even boil this dildo to make it even cleaner. Just make sure you don’t use a silicone lube with it because it might react with the material in Ella and destroy her. The silicone is actually quite rigid compared to another silicone toy I have, and it has a velvety matte texture also quite unlike it.
It comes with a satin pouch and a really nice black box with the brand “Lelo” on it. Nice and discreet for storage. It is best if you keep the box for storage and use the pouch for something else though. The pouch will load the Ella up with a lot of fuzz.
So this is my main beef with Ella; her intriguing velvety matte finish collects dust and lint like you wouldn’t believe. It is extremely annoying to wipe Ella down with a soft towel after washing only to notice that it is again all linty. I don’t have a lint free cloth or chamois, but you should maybe think about finding one if you’re going to purchase this toy. I use isopropyl alcohol wipes to wipe away the lint-I don’t think this is a specifically recommended method for cleaning this toy, although I haven’t noticed any problems arising from it.
It is actually a really nice toy for squirting, but it’s not one of those toys I’d say was luxuriously relaxing because I really haven’t experienced its subtle side (if it has one). I use it in a session with other toys most often if I want to prolong the session. The sensations are intense, but there is not much room for variation of sensations without it becoming uncomfortable, especially considering my personal dislike of the tapered end. The generic sensations also do not target some of my sweetest spots in that region, as at least one other toy can. But I suppose that is a matter of individual anatomy.

Experience
This toy does direct you to the area of the G spot, and covers a large area of it. This toy can make me squirt, but a lot of other toys can too. I actually had more of a learning curve with this toy than some others in achieving this, so I certainly don’t think that it is a sure thing. For me what helped was to use quite rapid but small thrusts, and a slight lean of the handle to my posterior, (sort of as though letting gravity do the work). I don’t try to apply any extra pressure to my G-spot with this toy, or it can leave me feeling raw. I use mine sitting right on the edge of a waterproof chair with one towel underneath me, and one on the floor. I find it easiest to squirt in this position. Sometimes I use a vibrator on my clit while using Ella, but strangely I find vibration to my clitoris to be nicer after I’ve squirted- I think I’m slightly backwards. I still find the Ella mildly uncomfortable because I tend to find very smooth and slim toys more to my liking-the ones where I don’ t need quite so much lube- and it is therefore not the first toy I think of when going to my collection. But if you are looking for an intense sensation in a toy that can make you squirt, Ella may be just the toy for you.

ella vs. others

I want to get ella as my first she doesn't seem as menacing as the others made of glass or metal but are those materials better sensation wise?
-
It comes down to personal preference, really. You're not going to know if glass or metal feels better to you until you try.
A couple things to keep in mind, though: glass and metal have absolutely no give, so they tend to feel bigger than silicone toys of the same size. They're also rather heavy in most cases, and so you need to be a bit more careful when you use them. Being too rough can result in internal bruising. They're very slick and smooth, though, unlike silicone which typically has some drag to it.
The Ella is pretty rigid for a silicone toy, but it's very light and easy to use. It's great if you're new to dildos. :) -

How Does Lelo Ella compare to Gigi?
-
I know that Ella doesn't vibrate, but are there many other differences? I am wondering whether the Ella might be a better shape or size for g-spot stimulation
-
i'm wondering this too. i bought gigi and was disappointed but ella seems even better should I or shouldn't I?

Would the Ella work well for a beginner?
-
I'm thinking of getting my bestfriend this for Christmas but she is new to toys. Would this be a good toy to give a newbie? I have not tried it myself so I'm not sure how easy it is to master.
-
I have the similarly shaped Gigi and found nothing but frustration when trying to thrust with it.
-
i think it would be a good option for a beginner.

I need help the Ella curve is doing me in.
-
I am not sure what I am doing wrong. I have read every review and some twice. I can not figure this girl out. I want to write a review but, how can I write a review on something I do not get. Any ideas would be wonderful. Please help me enjoy this beautiful toy.
-
What do you not get about it? Not every toy works for every woman. Does it hurt to use? Maybe your vagina is too small for it yet or maybe you just need some lube. Do you not feel anything? Again, nothing is for everyone. Try sqeezing the toy by doing kegels when you use it. Some women say that makes things feel better. Or maybe try tilting it up towards your g-spot. That works for me with other toys.
I haven't used it yet. Just recently purchased a white Ella. And I can't wait! We've got the same name! :D -
If you don't get it you can still write your review from that perspective. I'm sure you wouldn't be the only one who had that experience with it. I have the Ella and she's nice but she's not fireworks for me and that's ok. We all have different experiences with toys and that is what makes these reviews so valuable.

Dildo vs. Vibrator

I am having a hard time getting used to the idea of a dildo vs. a vibrator! As far as using one goes, how does one decide which is better for oneself? Just wondering and thanks!

Just wondering and thanks! What I mean by this I think is, is it easier with one than the other, or maybe does it require a different mind set or even is one better with partner play vs. solo? I don't know, LOL, just curious.

When we started with toys it was all about clit vibes for 'effective' reliable orgasms. But as we got into g-spot and a-spot stimulation, dildos have advantages over vibes because pressure is more important than vibes.
Now we almost always have some of both going on. A dildo for internal and a clit vibe for external - although she occasionally likes two vibes.
The only truism I've found is that what she wants/needs is different almost every time. I use to think 'this worked last time - so lets do it again' - but now I think 'we did that last time - what can I do to mix things up'.
That's why we have dozens of toys - both vibes and dildos.

Ella for beginners
-
Hey! I was just wondering if Ella would be something an absolute beginner could use, someone who's never gone looking for her g-spot before. She seems awfully tempting, but I wonder if I it's too advanced a toy for me?

Ella was the first one that worked for me. Several people have had their first successes with Ella.

Ella and Gigi

I've had both the Ella and the Gigi sitting in my shopping cart for days now. I was wondering.. should I get them both, or should I maybe just get one to try, then maybe later on get the other if I want?
They both seem so worth it, it's hard to just pick one! -

I have had the GiGi for a couple of months and rarely use it, mainly because the control thing is located in the worst possible spot, and I invariably hit it and make the settings change! Argh! I also had no luck with it for g-spot stimulation, and the only times I get it out it is for clit work.

Even though I wasn't crazy about GiGi, it seems to do the job for a lot of people, so it might work for you. In fact, I bought it based on all the wonderful reviews. I've come to the conclusion that there is no one toy that will do the trick for everyone. Everyone is VERY different in their tastes and what they need. -
I agree that no toy is good for everyone. I can not get a rabbit vibe that actually works for me by stimulating my clit and vag at the same time. Perhaps its operator error.
Anyway, I love the Gigi. I solved the control issue for me anyway by wiping the lube off the control and my fingers...success. The effectiveness of the Gigi is the vibe plus the design. I don't have the Ella, which is not a vibe but I see it as similar to many of the g spot dils available.

Thank you for viewing Ella – dildo review page!

You could always use paper towels to wipe your toys down to avoid lint.
I didn't love my Ella, either. I had hoped to, but alas, it just didn't do it for me.
Thanks for the review.
Nice review
Thanks for the review!
Thank you!
I've had this toy for a couple of weeks, but haven't had a lot of luck with it. I'm hoping it's just that "learning curve" issue. Thanks for the review and for the "rapid but small thrusts" suggestion. I'll have to give that a try.
