Midnight twist - dildo sex toy by SSA Glass - review by NuclearTeapot

All over the world midnight exists as a magical hour. An hour when the old day and the new day blur together, when the veil of this world and next is the thinnest, and of course, who could forget that after midnight one should never feed his or her gremlin. So when I saw a toy named "Midnight" I thought that it had quite a lot to live up to. Thankfully this dildo does not disappoint, and I know after using it a few times I felt I could travel between worlds and conjure fairies to dance for me.

Overall this gorgeous glass dildo does wonders for some gentle G-spot stimulation. I say gentle because the curve in this toy is not extreme, and therefore provided me with just a nice vaginal tickle. Also, both the tapered end and the rounded ball are nicely shaped for firmer clitoris stimulation. This toy does not have a traditional flared base but the bulbs on each end do take that place, so you could use this for anal stimulation.

Midnight is made of that fabulous material us mortals call glass. As with all glass toys this one has no taste, no smell, and as firm as firm can get. Since glass is so unforgiving when it comes to insertion, be careful the first time you use it so not to accidentally bruise something.

As far as texture goes, this toy actually has very little. While it is labeled on the site as "swirled" the swirls cannot be felt internally. When you run your hand over Midnight you can feel the white swirls slightly, but ever so slightly. This toy does have nubs though, five red ones to be exact. They are located in a line directly beneath the tapered head and on the inside of the curve. The nubs are not uniform in shape, looking like still molten globs of glass, but they are all relatively similar in size. Each nub is no bigger than the tip of my pinky. (I do have rather small hands) During use I barely noticed the nubs, but I will admit I love texture, the more intense the better. So if you are more sensitive to these things, this may be a perfect toy to ease you into texture since the nubs are so minimal.

Overall, I believe this toy would be fine for a beginner as long as caution was used the first few times. While this toy is rather simple, I think more experienced users, especially those who love glass, will find the elegance and shape of this toy enjoyable as well.

Beautiful is the only word for this dildo. The color, the form and function all lend themselves to a great experience. If it would not freak my husband out, I would leave this toy out on the coffee table for friends to come and admire while they visited.

The ends of this dildo are indeed a nice, deep, midnight blue, while the actual shaft is much lighter. Down the shaft are a series of white swirls that that can be quite hypnotic if you just sit around spinning this toy. The nubs are red, and I will admit that bugged me a bit. While the red is very dark, I wish they were the same midnight color as the bulbs on each end.

The shape is rather standard with a slightly curved tapered bulb on one end of the shaft and a rounded bulb on the other. When I first handled this toy, the geekier side of me though it looked vaguely like Count Dooku's light saber hilt.

Overall, the curved side with the tapered end provided the best stimulation for me, especially for light G-spot play. I found the pressure this toy delivered quite light, it really tickled in a wonderful way. However, if you like more pressure this toy can be angled a bit but not much since it has no give. So if you like a more extreme curve in your G-spot toys, look elsewhere.

In terms of over all size, this toy does not fall anywhere near the realm of intimidating. Total length is 7 3/4" with an insertable length of 6 1/2". The diameter is a small, for me at least, at 1 3/8". While inserted this toy felt nice, but does not provide a feeling of fullness. With that in mind, Midnight proves to be good for beginners or those who prefer their toys on the slimmer side of the spectrum.

Finally, will Midnight travel well? Since it is a dildo, you never have to worry about Midnight accidentally turning on at the airport and alerting TSA to your kinks. While this toy is a bit long, it would take up hardly any room in a suitcase and your clothes would provide sufficient padding. Now will this toy be easy to hide in a hotel room? Well that depends. You could throw Midnight under a pillow with no problem, but anyone changing the sheets will know, so I would advise to throw it back into a suitcase or even the hotel safe if you want to make sure no one finds it. Would I put Midnight in my purse? Definitely not.

I found Midnight to be a great toy in a number of areas. The smooth, hard surface of either end when pressed and rubbed against my clitoris got me in the mood for more. I tried both ends during insertion, but as I stated earlier, preferred the tapered because of the sensations it provided and rounded end does work as a great handle. While I think this toy performs well, I do wish it were a little bit thicker.

As with all glass though, it is great for temperature play. Run it under cold water or hot water to get just a slight change, or for something more extreme place it in a bowl with ice water or a bowl of steaming water for a few minutes. Make sure not to actually freeze or burn yourself. Trips to the emergency room are never sexy.

Also, I love using this toy in the shower. Mainly because I can get off and clean up in the same place.

Midnight is made of Pyrex glass, that means hypo-allergenic, latex free, non-porous and phthalates free. This gives glass a level 10 safety rating.

Glass is so ridiculously easy to care for. Clean it with soap or toy cleaner, bleach solution, boil it or even throw it into the top rack of your dishwasher, all forms work well. Since it can be bleached and boiled feel free to sanitize and share with friends and lovers to your heart's content.

As with cleaning, same goes with lube. Water, silicone or oil based are all compatible with glass.

While Pyrex glass is quite hardy, it is still glass. Avoid extreme temperature changes, for example do not put it in the freezer all night and then throw it into a pot of boiling water. Before use, always inspect for cracks or nicks. Keep in a relatively padded place, and do not throw it down onto hard surfaces.

I will say the packaging is quite minimal and there is much to be desired. Midnight came wrapped in bubble wrap inside a cheap, velvety red drawstring bag. No description, no pamphlet, and instruction came with this toy. While you can use the bag for storage, it provided no padding at all so I will be finding an alternative bag to keep mine in.
