Not Really Feeling Like a Queen

I'm underwhelmed. For a rather cute, middle-range glass toy, the Ruling Wand tries to provide sensations that are entirely middle of the road and as a result, doesn't surprise or please in a way that you'd write home about. There are plenty of glass toys out there -- this one shouldn't be your first choice.

Use

The Ruling Wand from Don Wands is a glass, double-ended dildo with varied surfaces on either end. It's mildly decorative with a pink ball at one end and a creative name -- however, I found that it wasn't so pleasurable in use. However, the Ruling Wand certainly is versatile and may please a number of users.

You'll like the Ruling Wand because...
1. It's two in one!
2. Anal safe on one end
3. All the pros of glass

Yet, I just wasn't impressed.

The Why Nots:
1. No variation in the size of the bulbs
2. Too small to stretch, too large to be very comfortable

These are likely subjective faults that I've found with the toy. However, with so much choice out there for glass toys, the Ruling Wand doesn't set really itself apart. It feels quite mediocre in use and I almost wish it was very pretty just so I'd have more to say about it -- but, it doesn't even have that.

Compared to other glass toys, the Ruling Wand is also very middle of the road: length and width are all comparable to other toys in my collection. Certainly, if you wanted another glass toy that was similar to every other in your collection, the Ruling Wand would be it.

Material / Texture

The Ruling Wand is made of borosilicate glass, which is silicon dioxide complexed with molecules of boron. This kind of glass is used to make excellent bakeware and resilient scientific glassware. Adding boron to glass makes it temperature resistant and shatter proof, both of which make the toy more safe and more fun. As a glass toy, the Ruling Wand is absolutely nonporous and entirely smooth, so it can be shared safely between partners and is easy to clean. Out of the packaging and every use thereafter, the Ruling Wand has no taste or smell.

Glass of course comes with some caveats -- when cooling or heating, do so uniformly across the surface of the toy to avoid shattering it. Never attempt to cool one end of the toy and heat the other, as the toy will likely crack. In terms of use, be gentle when using it on yourself or others as the chance of bruising increases with such a hard material.

The Texture:
The main thing that I imagine was intended to be interesting about the Ruling Wand is the two different ends, each with their own textures. The pink topped end has 4 bulbs in addition to the pink sphere, which give a slight 'popping' sensation upon insertion. The handle end has one bulb and a long stretch of entirely smooth glass. The entire toy is completely straight, so there are no angles that conform to the internal parts of the human body. This may provide its own kind of sensation, since the material is very inflexible and you will feel yourself bending around it, rather than the other way around.

Design / Shape / Size

As you can see from the measurements, the Ruling Wand appears to have some variety in the size of the bulbs and spheres. It's a hefty 7.5" long and widths vary between 0.75" and 1.5".

Measu

I was rather underwhelmed by the design and only found one of the sides useful to me, in terms of my satisfaction with the internal feeling. You'll notice that both ends, based on my measurements, are very similar to each other in size. To truly be a versatile double-ended toy, I just wish the multi-bulb side had a gradation of sizes or was at least a different size than the handle end!

Other than that, certainly the length will please most. The girth was substantial yet fairly comfortable -- though personally, I felt that I was neither feeling the sensation of being filled or able to angle the toy to create G-spot stimulation by thrusting. It was just kind of there -- more to be underwhelmed by, honestly.

Aesthetic:
Of course, the Ruling Wand is not at all meant to be a realistic toy. It's designed to look like a kind of sceptre, which is a cute aesthetic -- if I saw this toy laying around, truly my first thought might 'child's toy', since it looks almost like a girl's fairy wand or a prop for dressing up. That being said, if it's found in a non-sexual context or just lying around, no one would know it's a sex toy.

Performance

In actuality, this variety in width translates to nothing use. My vagina just isn't that sensitive to a change like 0.25 of an inch. I appreciate the length, but since the toy isn't curved, it makes it difficult to direct by oneself. I'd even contend that the pink topped end just isn't comfortable -- unlike other toys whose bulbs may provide a popping sensation that stimulates, I don't really feel like I 'get' the multi-layered end.

Luckily, the single bulbed handle end does provide this sensation. The very smooth, texture-less shaft heightens this feeling. This end could also be used for anal, as the multiple layers after the smooth shaft may provide a sufficient stop for safety purposes.

Care and Maintenance

Glass is great to clean, since multiple options are open to you and there are no motorized components to damage. Feel free to simply wipe down your glass toy with toy wipes, soak it in a 10% bleach solution, boil it, run it through the dishwasher or simply wash by hand with warm soap and water.

Glass is also compatible with all kinds of lubes -- water, oil, or silicone. No patch test required, simply be sure to not use a lube in the same encounter as something else that incompatible -- i.e., if you plan to use condoms later in the night, avoid using oil-based lubes on your glass toy if that's what you're starting with.

Packaging:
Unforunately, the Ruling Wand did not come with any storage options and the cardboard and plastic packaging it came with is both flimsy, not very pleasant to touch and not sturdy. It's meant entirely for store display and isn't very discreet. I recommend finding at least a gauze bag or better yet, some kind of semi-padded, soft material to keep your glass toy away from things that may scratch. A little bit of padding may keep the toy safe from small drops and falls.
