The Amethyst is made from translucent lilac purple Pyrex aka borosilicate glass. Pyrex glass is made from 14% boron, 51% oxygen, .3% sodium, 1% aluminium, 38% silicon, and less than 1% potassium. Because of this compound, Pyrex has a high thermal resistance. Making it resistant to thermal shock, low thermal expansion and more resistant to breaking versus regular glass. Although Pyrex glass will crack or shatter when subject to rapid or uneven temperature variations. But unlike regular glass, Pyrex when broken, will to crack into large pieces instead of shattering into small peices. Pyrex even has a high chemical resistant. Meaning, it won't corrode.
Why Pyrex for sex toys?
Well, it is the safest material out there. It is extremely durable, non-porous, less susceptible to disease and germs, can be boiled for sanitation, and lube will last longer on the silky smooth finish. It also wont hold onto scents and can transfer temperature.

Packaging
The Amethyst I received was void of a box, or any packaging other then a few wraps of bubble wrap. It was placed inside a cheap 1 ply red velvet pouch. The glass piece was flawless non the less, and looked great. The pouch on the other hand sucks. The drawstring on the pouch is worthless, and the toy will drop out since there is no way to tighten the drawstring over then to wrap the cord around the top of the bag like this:

If I were you I would buy a new pouch. The Toy Pouch actually works as a great substitute. Or get the Bent Graduate It's the same toy, but comes with a really great padded bag.

The Amethyst is still my favorite non vibrating toy. It is better than the pricier items I have purchased in the past, and most likely will surpass any items I will purchase in the future. It is simply amazing. Since it is Pyrex It has not chipped, cracked, stained *insert damage here*. It has held up great and I do believe will out last me.
I cannot achieve the sensations I get via the Amethyst from any other toy. I also do believe it is one of the best toys for g spot stimulation that Eden has to offer.
Point blank: If you are thinking about giving the ol' Amethyst a try- DO IT.

In my own experience, some water-based lubes do dry suspiciously fast on glass and leave something of a residue that occasionally got sticky, but I've never had it become painful. I haven't used lube with my glass since moving on to glycerin-free lubes, though, and I know glycerin is often the culprit with stickiness.
I'll have to try again and see how my Sliquid fares with it. Silicone lube will probably work out better, too.

Amethyst Still Out of Stock?

I noticed this has been out of stock for a long while, or is it just me? I really want to pick this one up, does anyone know when it might be back if ever? I'm not too fond of the others due to them being pink (unless Eden carried the cobalt bent graduate, which I would pick up).
Anyone have any word on when this will be back? -
I dunno, really. I guess you could set alerts to be notified when it is. I wish I knew as well, because I don't like the pink ones either and I know exactly where you're coming from. Hey, if I find out, I'll let you know.:)
