Oh Ella, that's the spot!

Ella is an excellent choice for any woman who has been trying to find her G-spot. The material is smooth, firm and comfortable to use and the design is nearly perfect for stimulation. You will definitely get your money's worth.

Pros:
Solid silicone, great design, gorgeous packaging, very reasonably priced.
Cons:
Handle may be too short for curvier women to fully enjoy.

Use

The Ella is a beautiful, solid silicone, double-ended dildo. One end is tapered a bit and great for getting yourself worked up, so that you're better able to find your g-spot. The other is wide, flat and angled so that once your G-spot has decided to come out to play, she'll have a new best friend.

This dildo is an excellent choice for women who are on a mission to have a G-spot orgasm. The end that's designed to stimulate your g-spot is the perfect shape. The material is velvety soft and still firm enough to provide the pressure that a lot of women need. It's also a great choice for women who don't like a lot of girth or length to their toys. She's 7 inches long, with 5 inches being insertable, and 1 1/4 inches around. The Ella is a great toy for someone who may not have actually had sex yet because of the design, size and smoothness of the material.

I wouldn't recommend this dildo for anal use, simply because it doesn't have a flared base. I see no problems with hard, fast thrusting though, because the length is short enough that most women shouldn't have to worry about hitting their cervix with it.

Material / Texture

This is my first silicone sex toy and I am in love. The texture of this dildo is solid and firm, yet it's still flexible, smooth and comfortable to use. The solid silicone definitely has an incredible feeling, both when thrusting and while being rocked against your g-spot. You just know you're playing with a high quality toy when using it. Plus, there aren't any unpleasant odors or flavors!

Design / Shape / Size

This is where I may differ in opinion from so many other users of the Ella. The actual design of the dildo, especially the g-spot end, is absolutely perfect for stimulation. However, she's a little short, which makes it hard to grab and thrust if you've got a bit of a tummy, thick thighs, wide hips and small hands. It doesn't make things impossible, but it's hard to keep a good steady thrusting rhythm going when you're trying to bend your body in awkward (and sometimes painful) positions so that you can grip the handle of this toy. It still feels amazing, but you may not be able to bring yourself to orgasm if you're a curvy gal and you need a certain type of stimulation. It may be more beneficial to have a partner use this toy on you if you find this to be a problem.

Performance

The silicone material makes this toy a worthy investment. It's the perfect texture for thrusting. It's nice and firm yet flexible enough to glide easily over the pelvic bone without pain. The shape is excellent for G-spot stimulation.

Care and Maintenance

Since Ella is made of solid silicone, she's ridiculously easy to clean. LELO includes an instruction pamphlet that recommends washing her with warm water and antibacterial soap and rinsing with hot water before and after each use. You could also use a toy cleaner, so long as it doesn't contain alcohol, petrol or acetone. She can be boiled, briefly, or washed in the dishwasher without soap for sterilization. You'll want to store her away from direct sunlight or extreme heat. Also avoid using silicone based lubricants and store her away from other silicone toys to prevent damage.

Packaging

Most of the sex toys I have seen come in gaudy, overly explicit packaging. Not Ella. She came in a simple black box with LELO printed in silver on the front. Inside of that box was another black box with sort of a canvas texture and LELO printed in black on the center. It's nice enough to use as a gift box, pretty enough to display on a dresser and sturdy enough that you could store your dildo in it permanently.

Included in the box was also a molded plastic sleeve to sit the Ella in, a satin drawstring pouch for storage, the one year warranty and a pamphlet with instructions on how to use and take care of your dildo in five different languages. You can tell LELO paid as much attention to the packaging as they did to their product.

Experience

While I have been able to give myself a G-spot orgasm with this toy, it's hard for me to maintain a grip on the handle. Not just because it gets slippery in use, but because of the shape of my body. The pamphlet suggests masturbating in different positions for alternate sensations, but I find it difficult to use in some positions. It was nice while lying on my back or squatting, but I have a hard time reaching when I'm on my knees or stomach. Some of the positions allow for better G-spot manipulation if you've got someone to do the thrusting for you.

I do like the material and shape of the toy. It feels very nice inside. I think I just need more time to get acquainted with her, which I fully intend to do.
Follow-up commentary
There's nothing really wrong with this dildo. It's held up well over the past few months. It just doesn't do it for me anymore. It was a nice aid in finding my g-spot, but I've moved on to dildos that fit my anatomy better.

I love Lelo! I have been in the hunt for a new dildo and definitely considered this one but I was wanting something with texture. I got the O2 Revolution. I think this will be my next purchase though! Thanks for the review!

So, if I understand correctly the pamphlet on how to use the toy, demonstrates different positions to use the toy?

There aren't any pictures, but it does talk about different ways that may be pleasurable for different people. Like it suggests squatting.

  • ella vs. others
    • I want to get ella as my first she doesn't seem as menacing as the others made of glass or metal but are those materials better sensation wise?
    • It comes down to personal preference, really. You're not going to know if glass or metal feels better to you until you try.

A couple things to keep in mind, though: glass and metal have absolutely no give, so they tend to feel bigger than silicone toys of the same size. They're also rather heavy in most cases, and so you need to be a bit more careful when you use them. Being too rough can result in internal bruising. They're very slick and smooth, though, unlike silicone which typically has some drag to it.

The Ella is pretty rigid for a silicone toy, but it's very light and easy to use. It's great if you're new to dildos. :)

I have not tried anything like that I hear alot of good things and alot of not so good things. its up to you to try and see what you prefer..

  • How Does Lelo Ella compare to Gigi?
    • I know that Ella doesn't vibrate, but are there many other differences? I am wondering whether the Ella might be a better shape or size for g-spot stimulation

  • Would the Ella work well for a beginner?
    • I'm thinking of getting my bestfriend this for Christmas but she is new to toys. Would this be a good toy to give a newbie? I have not tried it myself so I'm not sure how easy it is to master.
    • I have the similarly shaped Gigi and found nothing but frustration when trying to thrust with it.
    • i think it would be a good option for a beginner.

  • I need help the Ella curve is doing me in.
    • I am not sure what I am doing wrong. I have read every review and some twice. I can not figure this girl out. I want to write a review but, how can I write a review on something I do not get. Any ideas would be wonderful. Please help me enjoy this beautiful toy.
    • What do you not get about it? Not every toy works for every woman. Does it hurt to use? Maybe your vagina is too small for it yet or maybe you just need some lube. Do you not feel anything? Again, nothing is for everyone. Try sqeezing the toy by doing kegels when you use it. Some women say that makes things feel better. Or maybe try tilting it up towards your g-spot. That works for me with other toys.

I haven't used it yet. Just recently purchased a white Ella. And I can't wait! We've got the same name! :D
    • If you don't get it you can still write your review from that perspective. I'm sure you wouldn't be the only one who had that experience with it. I have the Ella and she's nice but she's not fireworks for me and that's ok. We all have different experiences with toys and that is what makes these reviews so valuable.

  • Dildo vs. Vibrator
    • I am having a hard time getting used to the idea of a dildo vs. a vibrator! As far as using one goes, how does one decide which is better for oneself? Just wondering and thanks!

What I mean by this I think is, is it easier with one than the other, or maybe does it require a different mind set or even is one better with partner play vs. solo? I don't know, LOL, just curious.
    • When we started with toys it was all about clit vibes for 'effective' reliable orgasms. But as we got into g-spot and a-spot stimulation, dildos have advantages over vibes because pressure is more important than vibes.

Now we almost always have some of both going on. A dildo for internal and a clit vibe for external - although she occasionally likes two vibes.

The only truism I've found is that what she wants/needs is different almost every time. I use to think 'this worked last time - so lets do it again' - but now I think 'we did that last time - what can I do to mix things up'.

That's why we have dozens of toys - both vibes and dildos.

  • Ella for beginners
    • Hey! I was just wondering if Ella would be something an absolute beginner could use, someone who's never gone looking for her g-spot before. She seems awfully tempting, but I wonder if I it's too advanced a toy for me?

Ella is perfect for beginners. I had tried several other G-spot toys before Ella. Ella was the first one that worked for me. Several people have had their first successes with Ella.

I'm glad Ella seems like such a successful toy! I hope she works for me, too <3

  • Ella and Gigi
    • I've had both the Ella and the Gigi sitting in my shopping cart for days now. I was wondering.. should I get them both, or should I maybe just get one to try, then maybe later on get the other if I want?

They both seem so worth it, it's hard to just pick one!

I just bought the Ella and have not tried it yet, but everyone seems to love it. I have had the GiGi for a couple of months and rarely use it, mainly because the control thing is located in the worst possible spot, and I invariably hit it and make the settings change! Argh! I also had no luck with it for g-spot stimulation, and the only times I get it out it is for clit work.

Even though I wasn't crazy about GiGi, it seems to do the job for a lot of people, so it might work for you. In fact, I bought it based on all the wonderful reviews. I've come to the conclusion that there is no one toy that will do the trick for everyone. Everyone is VERY different in their tastes and what they need.
    • I agree that no toy is good for everyone. I can not get a rabbit vibe that actually works for me by stimulating my clit and vag at the same time. Perhaps its operator error.
Anyway, I love the Gigi. I solved the control issue for me anyway by wiping the lube off the control and my fingers...success. The effectiveness of the Gigi is the vibe plus the design. I don't have the Ella, which is not a vibe but I see it as similar to many of the g spot dils available.
