Oh Feeldoe, I wish I could like you more!

While long heralded as the gold standard for strapless strap-ons, the Feeldoe is a great design in theory. The shaft is smooth and reaches the g-spot nicely, but the insertable bulb and angle make it feel unstable and wobbly.
Published: November 5, 2010
Pros:
All silicone, easily cleaned, mental mindfuck of having a penis, both partners have stimulation.
Cons:
Narrow neck on wearer's bulb makes the dildo wobbly, major lint magnet, bulb not big enough.

extremely useful review
The Feeldoe. Long heralded as the gold standard in strapless strap-ons. This so-called "gold standard" has long since on my wishlist of toys I would give a limb to acquire. That list included pretty much any Njoy items, a Spareparts Joque Harness, jeweled butt plug, and several other kinky bondage items.

Well, having now acquired most of those items with the exception of the kinky bondage items, I can honestly say I'm the most "ehhhhhh" about the Feeldoe. I know, blasphemy! Just wait and hear me out. There is logic to my insanity, surprisingly enough.

Let's start at the beginning and I'll try to show you my thought process. The Feeldoe arrived at my door in clamshell packaging, with no real classic "sex toy" or "porn" images on the cardboard insert. Bonus points there. Tantus includes one of their standard bullets with every Feeldoe as well. It's silver and has one speed. It runs on watch batteries and for something so little it's surprisingly powerful. These bullets appear to be water proof, given they have a little rubber gasket that will stop water from leaking into the battery compartment. But they still run on watch batteries, LR44 batteries to be exact.

The dildo itself reminds me strikingly of Barney the Dinosaur and as such I will now be calling myself Barney when I wear this pretty little dildo. It's a shade of grape. The dildo is made completely of Tantus's 100% medical grade silicone. Anybody who's read reviews of mine can tell you how much I love silicone toys in comparison to jelly, TPR or plastic. It's sterilizable, shareable (when used with condoms or common sense), flexible and comfortable during use.

The insertable shaft of the dildo (the part a partner would get as the "catcher" so to speak) is approximately 7 inches long. The shaft is completely smooth and has a slightly penis-like head at the tip. That being said, it's not detailed enough for those who dislike realistic toys (such as myself.) At its widest point, the shaft is 1 1/2 inches wide. Given that I prefer my toys a bit on the girthy side, this pleased me. At the base of the shaft are three ridges that are designed to rub against the wearer's clitoral region. Unfortunately, these ridges didn't do much rubbing or stimulating for me.

Here is where the Feeldoe took a sharp turn from toy-of-the-century into I'm-kind-of-blase. The bulb. Oh, the bulb. What keeps the dildo inside the wearer instead of straps is the bulb end opposite to the insertable shaft. It's the shorter of the two sides and is about 3 3/4 inches long. So what's so wrong about it? I felt like it wasn't big enough! The bulb is under 1 1/2 wide and the large part of the insertable end is 2 1/2 inches. I had to constantly clench my PC muscles to even keep it inside me and not slide out. Subtle hint I need to do more kegels? The short shaft narrows and narrows so much the whole dildo ends up being wobbly when worn. I had to hold the insertable shaft just so it didn't flop forward.

My last beef with the Feeldoe? The angle between the bulb end and insertable end seems to be too great. It stood out from my body at such an angle that the whole unit felt very wobbly when worn and I had to hold the shaft so it didn't fall forward. Again, this could be from the bulb not holding tight inside my vagina.

But does it work otherwise? Yes! This dildo definitely will hit your g-spot and it did mine. The penis-like head could possibly be a little pointy though. The length is great for that deep dicking I like to give and receive. The bullet that inserts into the base will send vibrations all through the toy, both insertable shaft and wearer's bulb.

Clean up is a breeze. Hot water and antibacterial soap. It can also be boiled in a bleach solution for extra sanitation. Air dry for best results. But don't forget to remove the bullet first.
Experience
After complaining about the wobbliness of the Feeldoe to a friend, she suggested I try it with a harness. Though this defeats the purpose of a strapless strap-on, it does provide a lot of stability. It was difficult to wrangle into my harness of choice (the previously mentioned Spareparts Joque) but made me feel much more confident that it would not fall out when in use. If you do choose to use the Feeldoe with a harness I would definitely recommend one without a back on it so that you can insert this and still use the fucking end. Otherwise, it plain just won't work. With harness and the bullet in use (the Magic Button as a friend calls it) you'll still receive the vibration as well as the added stability.

I like the idea of having a strapless dildo - but I would be using this on my male partner and I don't feel as if they would be stable enough to do the job. Thanks for the great review!

Great review. If hubby were into pegging, this would be one to try. I wonder if my size would help with the wobbliness... but he's not, so I won't be trying it. I guess I should keep working on him with that!

Good review. You've noticed one of the perennial problems of the "strapless" doubles - you do usually need to make an effort to keep them in, especially if you're using it for anal sex.

One thing to keep in mind is that using a harness doesn't really defeat the purpose. It's definitely nice to have the easy to put on, nothing between me and my partner feeling, but even with a harness the strapless doubles offer more control and stimulation, and you can use a harness that's not quite as beefy.

Good review! You are not alone trying to maintain the Feeldoe in your vagina w/o a harness. The concept is great but I always expel the Feeldoe just prior to orgasm w/o a harness.
A decent harness Spareparts or Aslan Jaguar takes care of stability.
I do find the Feeldoe just too rigid to peg my b/f. Female to female...awesome!

Thanks for the honest review! This is very similar to my own experiences with the Feeldoe, and I'm glad to know I'm not alone!

  • Feeldoe: is it better than a regular strap-on?
    • is the feeldoe better than a strap on? seems like it might try to fall out
    • In many ways yes, it is better than a strap on dildo used in a harness. This can also be used in a harness and there are a variety of reviews you can read to decide if you would like to purchase it.

The reviews can be found here!. If you still have questions you are free to ask the contributors who wrote reviews on the item.
    • Most people need a harness, but when it's used the giver usually gets more stimulation and slightly better control.

I'd recommend the Share or Vixen Nexus before the Feeldoe.

  • Feeldoe and Joque?
    • Hey,
just wondering if anyone has the feeldoe used with the sparepants joque harness? and if so any review/information you can offer?

I've used this with my Joque and the difference was amazing! It felt a lot sturdier and doesn't slip out at all. Before I got the harness, going to fast could lead to the feeldoe falling out but this is no longer an issue.
The harness is well worth the money- incredibly comfortable, easy to clean and feels just like an extension of my body.

      Hope that helps.

Thanks for the info..I wondered if it helped a great deal. The Joque has long been on my wishlist.

  • REALdoe?
    • My boyfriend and I are familiar with, and huge fans of, the Feeldoe line of double-ended strapless strapon dildoes. Now I have learned through feeldoe.com that another product exists: the Realdoe. It's a Feeldoe in realistic skintone, in the same dimensions as the Feeldoe Violet but a little softer. Is this also made by Tantus, or does anyone know who does manufacture it of NOT Tantus? I'd love to get my hands on it. A purple cock is a great thing to have, but to have a realistic-looking penis between my legs with no straps to hold it in place... That would be this pegger's dream come true. Any help is appreciated! Thanks! ~Pixie

Also, thanks for enduring my re-post, I believe the original post ended up in the wrong place, or else "relating" to the wrong things. Thanks! (h)
    • Thanks for asking. We actually do have the RealDoe on order. I'm looking forward to it too as the realistic color and such looks like a lot of fun.

  • Feeldoe compatable harness
    • forkeh
Hi there, I'm interested in buying this pretty little toy, but I know my vaginal muscles aren't quite up to par to hold this in.

So my question is, is it compatable with the Jaguar harness? It's what I have and I really don't want to buy another to accommodate such an expensive dildo.

      Thanks.
    • Yes it is compatable with a Jaguar harness.
    • On a side note - vaginal muscles do not have to be as "up to par" as you might think to use this. Having used this on the bulb/holding end myself, I've only ever had it fall out if things get rough, and I have never done a kegel exercise in my life and I know my vagina is larger than most to boot.

Do I need a harness for a Feeldoe dildo?
    • EF Expert
Quote: Do I need a harness for a Feeldoe dildo?
Feeldoe dildos are generally considered harness-free strap-ons, but you have to have strong vaginal muscles to keep with bulb end inside the vagina and it's really a matter of how tight you can squeeze around the bulb.If your muscles are not strong enough we recommend to use a harness to hold it in place.
    • You don't *need* a harness with any of the double ended dildos, as they are designed to be kept in place by the wearer's kegel muscles. However, if you would like it to be more secure, or you are going to be very rough with it, Outlaw Leather makes all their harness with two holes, do it'll fit in perfectly. I have the Syd, and love it :)
