Amethyst is best for beginner to intermediate-beginner users and is easy to manipulate from whichever end you choose to hold it. It can be used for females and males alike, depending on whether you are looking for g-spot or p-spot stimulation and/or partner play. It can be used anywhere and everywhere since there are no moving parts and it is not a motorized toy. As usual, I would caution against forceful thrusting with glass toys to avoid damaging the cervix, but you can safely get a good motion going with amethyst, especially if you are familiar with the shape of your body. It can also be used for anal play, but it does not have a flared base, so be careful. The curve of amethyst affords some wiggle room anally, but it is an obtuse curve about 20 degrees at a glance bent away from you, so it can be easily maneuvered and equally lost.

THE PRODUCT:
Amethyst is made of Borosilicate glass which rates a 10 on Eden's safety scale. The best safety rating you could hope for. It is made of food-grade material, it is hypo-allergenic, latex free, non-porous and phthalates free. Borosilicate glass is also known as Pyrex (brand-name), which is made by adding boron into the mixture of sand, soda and ground lime. Pyrex is a hard material with a high chemical resistance and mechanical strength. The boron in Pyrex reduces any stress caused to the material due to temperature changes, making Amethyst great for hot and cold temperature play. It is less dense than ordinary glass, making it much more resistant to shattering and breaking as well, if it were to break it would not shatter or splinter into tiny pieces but instead it would snap or break in large pieces (refer to Eden product material description).

Touch
Amethyst is smooth to the touch and cool on the surface. When you run your fingers across it is smooth as well, but still requires just a touch of lubricant or wetness for a slippery effect. Make sure to always check for imperfections or cracks in the glass. If you see these, do not use the toy and contact Eden customer support for assistance.

DESIGN
The design of amethyst is meant to accommodate g-spot stimulation, especially if you use the smooth side. You could consider amethyst as having 3 large ridges and a small one, or 3 large bumps and a small ridge, which can accommodate p-spot stimulation. However you decide to describe it, amethyst is designed in a very versatile way. I was certainly a fan of the design, but I myself prefer the size of Reflections Amber which leans closer toward 4.5" in circumference and the rigidity makes for a fuller feeling. I also find it easier to reach my g-spot with Reflections Amber, which mostly speaks to the way I am shaped. I would be careful about using it anally, because it is just one toy you do not want to disappear, especially without a flared base, however the curve may prevent that (depending on what you do with it).

CRAFTSMANSHIP/MATERIAL
Anyone who knows anything about toys or even that they exist will most likely be able to tell what this is, but it is not realistic in shape. However, it certainly is not as awkward for someone to run across Amethyst as it would be for them to see a realistic-shaped and textured dildo. It is a very nice size, and the particular colour I chose is amethyst (from which it got its name), which is a purplish colour. It is not too large both for performance reasons, travel and storage convenience.

SIZE/FIT
You will be able to tell a little bit better in the measurements section, but Amethyst does not really have a top or bottom. Depending on what kind of stimulation you are looking for or the reach of your g-spot, you can choose to insert amethyst from the ridged portion or the smooth side. Regardless, each side is shaped conveniently into a smooth point for easy fit for beginning users. Intermediate to advanced users may not find it to be as spectacular in terms of fit.

The best thing about Amethyst is the design, which increases its versatility. It is very carefully constructed with a curve that will not be too intimidating for beginners who want the advantage of amazing g-spot induced orgasms. In addition, the bumps/ridges afford for graduated or differential stimulation, vaginally and anally. The the smoothness of the glass affords for gentle rubbing on the outside of the clitoris or labia, specifically for warmth-induced frictional stimulation. The only downside on my end is that I wish it were larger, however that makes no difference to the amazing design and functionality of Amethyst.

CARE
Glass is extremely smooth and nonporous. Easy to clean, with soap/water or sex toy cleaner. You can also clean with a 10% bleach solution or boil it. Regardless of its nonporous nature, use condoms if sharing.

STORAGE
You can store it in the pouch in which it came, in the corner of a drawer or a toy box/chest if you prefer it. It is not so large that it would be difficult to find a place for it.

Product Packaging
The packaging for Amethyst could be considered to be discreet. It did not come in a box, but a red pouch. A red pouch might certainly make someone curious to know what is inside, but it could be a mini hair straightener, razor, or some other hygiene product inside. So you would not have to worry from the outset that someone would know what was inside. Inside the pouch, the product came nicely wrapped up in bubble rap, which you could choose to keep if you want to insure that it does not break. The pouch itself is soft and velvety, but not padded. So I suggest if you are concerned about Amethyst breaking, keep the bubble rap.
