Ride the Wave!

The Wave is an interesting and beautiful design rendered in high quality, shimmery silicone. It definitely feels just as good as it looks, giving a delicious and filling romp with some subtle g-spot stim. Though the tapered shape can sometimes make it tricky to retain, the unique sensation is totally worth it.

extremely useful review
The Whipspider Rubberworks Wave is a gorgeous dildo designed for some gentle g-spot stimulation. It is exactly the same size and shape as their Tentacle dildo, minus the extra-textured suction cups. It is wonderful for thrusting or stationary play during masturbation or play with a friend/lover/partner. The tapered design makes this a very filling toy that also works well for warm-up. If you exercise common sense and caution, the Wave could definitely be used for anal play, particularly prostate play. Just keep a firm hold on the base and don't haul off and sit right down on it if you are a super advanced butt player, as your ass COULD swallow it up. It lacks a base, but the taper gets rather large toward the bottom of the toy...so be careful if you are using this as a butt toy!

So the Wave is made of a super lovely, high quality silicone. This means it has no smell, no taste, and no funky chemicals leeching out into your body. Silicone is a very durable, long lasting material that will hold up to pretty much whatever you throw at it. You can sterilize it by boiling, wiping it down with a 10-1 bleach/water solution, or by running it through your dishwasher on the top rack with no soap. For standard cleaning, hot water and regular/antibacterial soap will do the job. Sticking with water or oil based lubricants and avoiding any silicone formulas is the best choice for this material. Silicone lubricants can damage your silicone sex toys. The Wave has a super shiny, slick texture that gets nice and slippery with either of these lubricants. Of course, because of the shiny, smooth quality of the silicone, this is a toy that likes lint (as many silicone toys do). If it gets too furry, I just use toy wipes/unscented baby wipes for a quick clean-up before I play with it.

Whipspider Rubberworks creates many whimsical toys, and though the Wave is less ornate than others in their line, it still has a totally artistic, organic look. It evokes arching waves and an aquatic feel, with its sexy curve and the shimmery shades of blue swirling about. The silicone is solid, gorgeous, and the smooth texture and simple design showcase the coloring. There is also a black disk of silicone is set in the base, carved with the WSR's logo (definitely check out my picture-loaded blog post to see the Wave in all its gorgeous wonder).

Measurements: 7" long with 6-1/2" usable length. The tip starts out at just a bit over 1" widening into 1-3/4" at the middle and ending in 2-3/8" at the base. The base is totally flat, and allows the Wave to stand upright for storage, or display! The taper is gradual and gives the Wave a very unique feel as you insert it, more of a slow filling stretch than an overwhelming one. Because the tip starts out quite thin, you can work with it as a warm up toy, building up to the wider middle as you play. The feeling of being stretched by the toy as it's pushed in, wider and wider, is toe-curling awesomeness. I found the base to be easy enough to hold onto, which is good because the shape is such that my vagina sometimes wants to push it out. When it is deeper inside me, I have to hang onto it firmly so it won't slide back out...which can be somewhat annoying, but is easier if I have an extra hand (my partners). Another way it works well, and doesn't tend to pop out is if I use it sitting up. Honestly this isn't my preferred masturbation or play position, but the wide, flat base makes it sturdy and the tapered design keeps it from bottoming out on my cervix.

The curve isn't severe, so the g-spot stimulation is more subtle than some of my other g-spotting dildos. I have to either angle it upward and wiggle or thrust to get good contact in that department. The silicone is supple too, with a somewhat squishy medium density feel, which gives the thinner part of the dildo flexibility. So hard g-spot contact is not exactly the shining point of the Wave for me, but rather the super filling sensation it gives, combined with the not-too-overwhelming g-spot stim. It's different, in a very very good way. That flexibility and gentle curve could also be just right for those who prefer more demure, softer g-spot stimulation.

The Wave comes in a sturdy zip-up plastic baggie, with a paper insert featuring the Whipspider Rubberworks logo and company info. Of course since the plastic is clear, it isn't exactly discreet packaging. However the packaging is reusable, and quite suitable for keeping it dust-free for storage or travel.
