"S" is for Squirt!

The Smooth S Shape is a wooden dildo by NobEssence that has your g-spot (or p-spot) in mind. It is made from a green and safe toy material and is nice just to look at. You won't be disappointed by the stimulation you get from this one.

Use

The Smooth S Shape (as named on Eden) or the Seduction (as named by NobEssence) is a beautiful, hand carved wooden dildo. It gets its name from the "S" shape that the body of the toy makes (however I think the S stands for something else). This dildo really shines at g-spot stimulation, but the small side can also be used anally because the larger end will keep it from accidentally slipping inside of you. With that being said, the curve of the smaller side might also work for p-spot stimulation. Wood is hard, so it is possibly to bump your cervix, however I find that with the minor weight, it is a bit harder to lose control and it is not overly long (in insertable length). All the g-spot fanatics out there should pick this one up in their next order! Although one end is large, the smaller end can be used by those newer to insertable toys until they are ready to try the other side.

Material / Texture

The Smooth S Shape is made from wood. It does not have the strong wood smell that my other wood toy has and there is no taste. There are no harmful chemicals used in making this toy and the material rates a 9 on Eden's scale. You should feel great because you are using a safe AND green sex toy material whenever you use the Smooth S Shape.

On Eden you are not able to select the specific color/wood type, so it will be a fun surprise when you get it. You really can't go wrong no matter which one you get because each piece will have its own unique appeal and NobEssence uses renewable wood so it is environmentally friendly. Mine is made from Bamboo, so it is a lot lighter than the wood that is pictured on the product page. NobEssence toys are coated with their special Lubrosity finish, which is much smoother than the finish I have on my other wooden toy. It makes their toys completely body safe and also safe for prolonged use in the body (as it gets pretty wet sometimes) and also for use in the water with no problems.

Wood is firm so it may deter some beginners (the size of the large end certainly may as well), however the smoothness of this toy is pretty inviting.

Design / Shape / Size

The Smooth S Shape looks like an elegant wooden sculpture, but I would wonder how to explain it to others because in my mind people always want an explanation. If I kept it displayed in a certain way, then I COULD pass it off as some kind of art.

Although I love the fact that this one is made of nicely finished wood, the design is what really gets me. The "S" shape has 2 curves that work great for g-spot stimulation, whether you want large and broad stimulation or average sized yet pin point stimulation. The smaller ball measures about 1.5 inches in diameter and is not very intimidating because the shaft gets significantly smaller after the ball. I was able to enjoy the "pop" sensation as this end slid in and out and also the great massage the ball gave to different parts of my g-spot as it glided around inside of me. The insertable length of this side is about 4.5 inches. The larger end is just under 2 inches in diameter and 4 inches insertable. This side is best for intermediate or advanced users due to the lack of give that wood has. The large end made me feel ever so slightly stretched in a great way and gave non stop pressure to my entire g-spot.

When using either end, both ends also provide a great and easy to hold handle. I had no trouble at all manipulating this toy.

Performance

I was expecting a good g-spot toy when I ordered the Smooth S Shape, but what I got was a GREAT g-spot toy! The performance of this toy, in this area, outshines most of the toys in my collection. I get perfect g-spot stimulation from either side and the first thing that came to my mind after my first use is that this one and the Pure Wand are going to be serious competitors for my attention. The smooth feel of the material combined with the shape of the curves make it very pleasurable and also easy to hold.
    • Easy to use
    • Comfortable

Care and Maintenance

Because the wood that NobEssence uses to make their toys is coated in their special Lubrosity finish, the Smooth S Shape can be cleaned with soap and water (or toy cleaner) and can also be sterilized with a 10% bleach solution. As you can see, this is very easy to clean. The information that comes with this toy says it is compatible with all lubricants, which is a plus. I keep mine stored in the box it came with, which sits on my dresser, for easy access.

Packaging

The Smooth S Shape comes in a very classy, hard cardboard package. It slides open to reveal the toy sitting in a suede-like lined (and padded) area held in place with an elastic-type cord. The side of the package lists what toy it is and the specific type of wood that it is made from. I like this packaging a lot because you could keep a few stacked up (which is what I will do as I now know I love NobEssence toys) and get right to the one you want. This packaging would make a great gift because you can't see the toy and it just looks like something that would a nice gift box.

Inside of the box is a little insert that tells you about NobEssence wooden toys in regards to the material, lube compatibility, and care.
    • Discreet looking packaging
    • Good for storage

Experience

I already mentioned how well this worked as a g-spot toy, however I left out the fact that this toy REALLY makes me squirt! I honestly surprised myself while using the large end one day and squirting enough to soak through the towels, sheets, and the mattress pad while also managing to squirt to the other end of my bed. I have never squirted that much and I just had to say something about it.

Aside from g-spot stimulation, I really like the way it feels when I contract my muscles around the large end of this toy. I know it isn't designed as a kegel exerciser, and it is on the large side, but I like using it sometimes for that.

I liked wood when I tried my first wooden dildo, but now I LOVE it! Ever since I got this, I have used it every day. I might have to start a wooden dildo collection seeing as I already have a good sized glass collection over here.
Follow-up commentary
I love the Smooth S Shape (aka the Seduction)! It is still my favorite g-spot toy for the same reasons I listed in my original review. If you can afford to give this one a try, you will not be disappointed at all. I have used it a lot and it is still just as shiny and smooth as it was when I first received it, so there are no worries about the finish dulling down.

  • Wooden - splinter?
    • I have no problem with wooden toys, and would love to try one.. if I can ever get it in stock. My girlfriend on the other hand is afraid it will split, have any ideas for me to reassure her?
    • I've never heard of that happening under normal use. It's very unlikely to happen at all if you get a good quality one with a good varnish. Of course, soaking it in water might make it split, but the care instructions will specifically say not to do that. Just follow the directions and it'll be fine. Wood is a very safe material when properly varnished. :)

I agree, if it wasn't a safe toy it wouldn't be on the market.
If it was possible for it to split under normal use, they wouldn't sell it for vaginal insertion.

  • Wooden Toys, what's the allure?
    • Hi there folks!

I was browsing through the dildo section after reading a couple forum posts about people trying to pick between dildos, including some wooden dildos in their choices. I'm kind of wondering what the allure for wooden dildos are?

I can appreciate the artistic value of them, like the "Smooth S Shape", but practical application seems sketchy. I don't care how well made a wooden object is, how well varnished or polished or whatever, it's going to have health and safety issues over time I'd think. Lubricants and body fluids would seep in eventually right? And cleaning, and sterilizing on occasion, would also break down the surface of the toy and lead to splinters and hidey nooks for bacteria I'd think? So why buy them if you want a toy for actual use? If you want a hard, non vibrating toy, why not go for glass or steel?
    • I love wood toys, though I also own glass and metal toys. Here's my reasoning.

      1) They're beautiful! They're silky smooth, curvy, and sensual. That's appealing to me and, often, arousing.

      2) They're lightweight, especially compared to the heft of glass and metal.

      3) They feel more warm and familiar to me, as opposed to the cold sterility of glass and metal.

      4) They're environmentally- and body-friendly. Wooden toys are often sustainably-farmed, chemical-free, and all-natural.

I'd also like to debunk your concerns about splinters and "hidey nooks".

The wooden toys I own are all by NobEssence, so I can't say that I know much about other brands, but I can certainly vouch for NobEssence. Their products are sanded and polished totally smooth and utterly flawless. They use a state-of-the-art sealant that is bio-compatible, hypoallergenic, and completely waterproof, "[stemming] from years of meticulous research and development and meet USP Class IV and VI Medical Standards. According to NobEssence, "when carved wood comes into contact with moisture, it absorbs those fluids and becomes rough, bumpy and even splintery. Most wood sealants considered ‘food safe’ will break down or dissolve over time, so we spent a long time searching for a sealant to make our wood waterproof and body safe."

You should be careful not to damage the surface by dropping it or knocking it against other hard surfaces. You shouldn't boil it or expose it to high temperatures in a dishwasher, but you can wash it with warm water and non-abrasive soap, soak it for ten minutes in a 10% bleach solution, or wipe it down with anti-bacterial/microbi al cleaner, such as alcohol, bleach, peroxide, etc. If you do suspect the toy has been damaged, you can test the integrity of the finish by "immersing it in water for a few seconds and removing to inspect. If the area in question darkens in response to water AND when wiped remains damp when the surrounding area is dry", then you have damage.

In short, if you follow directions and take proper care of your toy, you shouldn't encounter any problems. The philosophy with wood toys is the same as with glass. If you notice that your glass toy has a chip or a crack, you should no longer use it. The same goes for wood toys. Over time, nearly any material or item may have health and safety issues. It's a matter of risk management and taking good care of your toys.

And there you have it! :)

  • Nob Essence - Out of stock leads to discontinued????
    • Hey - I was really sad when the "Dual Use S Shape" (link) went out of stock and then went discontinued. I was saving for it.

But I made my piece and decided to lust after the "Smooth S shape" (link) instead.

But its been out of stock for what feel like forever - is it destined to flip over to discontinued? I really hope not and I have saved enough to buy it and I am just waiting and waiting and waiting and hoping.... :)
    • Oh gosh, I really, really hope not! I was hoping to get this! (Eventually, once I've saved up quite a chunk of change!).
    • For this (and pretty much all stock questions) I'd submit a support ticket. Customer service can get you a much more definitive answer than anybody just browsing the forums can :)

Are you not worried aboutsplinters from wooden toys?
    • Honestly, not really, even tho I freely confess to not owning any wooden toys at this current moment. I'm sure wooden toy owners can phrase it better than I can, but really any wooden toy that comes from a legit manufacturer will have a finish to it that shouldn't wear off, or has been polished to a point that the only way to end up with splinters is to damage it in some way. :)
    • i would for shure use a condom with a woooden toy.. but i dont think i would use a wooden toy they seem boring and way to hard.. but i guess at some point i can try
