Slender Silhouette

As far as thin, flexible, nonrealistic dildos go I am a bit of a connoisseur. And my verdict? This one by Doc Johnson is up there with the pros. With the surprisingly quality material (I flame tested it) and the perfect size and design, if you're someone who is interested in the more petite toys out there I highly recommend giving this one a go.

Use

The Slender by Doc Johnson is a fairly little toy that is part of a pure silicone line. The toy does not vibrate or have a motor in in, and is harness compatible.

The main use for this toy is for vaginal insertion. It's smooth and flexible, and it has little texture making it easy to thrust with. It also has the large, rounded head that's great for g-spot stimulation. This is great for ladies who prefer average or slightly thinner than average girth, and no texture.

Because of the flared base, this toy is also entirely anal safe. The smooth surface and length also make it great for anal thrusting, and the rounded tip makes it equally effective at prostate stimulation.

You can use this clitorally, but because it has no motor it's a bit boring. Similarly, this isn't best to use on the nipples or other vibrate-able erogenous zones because it's just, if not more so, boring as fingers. It's also not a good material or design to be used for full-body massages.

If you're looking for a first toy to get as a couple, this would be alright. If you're wanting to use it in a harness the small size and non-realistic design make it functional but not scary, and, if you're just looking to use it by holding it, it's comfortable in your hand and hard to bruise your partner with.

As far as being someones first toy in general, this would be a good choice if you're looking for a quality toy without a motor. I normally recommend getting something that at least vibrates a bit as your first, I certainly wouldn't dissuade a nervous newbie from picking this toy up.

This toy also 100% passes Ryu's dorm seal of approval. By not having a motor this toy is entirely silent, and it's also easy to care for and hide. If you live somewhere in close quarters with others this would be a great choice.

Material / Texture

The Slender is made entirely of silicone. The entire theme of this line is that they're made of premium silicone, something that a lot of manufacturers claim but don't live up to. Silicone is rated a 10 out of 10 on the Eden Safety Scale and is nonporous and body safe.

Now I'm not one to be doubtful about materials, and in all I don't usually CARE if something is 80% or 100% silicone because I am not allergic to anything, and often when it's a cheaper brand I assume it's not going to be the best quality. But on this toy, because the whole line is about being pure silicone, I did flame test it. After wiping off the ash the area I flame tested was a bit 'dingier' than the rest, but it did not catch on fire, get sticky, or lose any material. Because of that I can verify that it's 100% silicone.

Not only is silicone safe because it's nonporous, but you also can both boil it to disinfect it or wipe it down with a 10% bleach solution. This kills any bacteria that could be hiding on the surface, and allows you to safely switch users or orifices.

This toy has a bit of drag to it, but it's not tacky or sticky. I have used this in the shower and not needed lube, but if you're out of the shower or don't naturally make enough natural lubricant as you need you can use water based lube on this toy. A little bit of lube certainly goes a long ways. It's a huge lint magnet, so you should take care to store it in a lint-free place.

The silicone is very flexible, and the shaft can easily bend over on itself. This makes it great for harness or couples play because it allows for the one thrusting with it to not have to worry about getting carried away and hurting their partner. It's not soft enough that it can't be used for g-spotting, but if you usually prefer firm pressure it may not be for you.

While it is flexible, it's firm when you squeeze it. It has almost no give at all, making the tip firm enough to feel realistic and good for fairly targeted g- and p-spot stimulation. The base is thick, but still has a bit of flex to it.

In all, silicone is a wonderful material that's great for both new and advanced users. It's one of the safest things for toys to be made of, and it's soft enough to feel more realistic than metal, wood, or plastic.

Design / Shape / Size

The Slender is exactly what it implies: slender. It's thin and tulip-shaped, and it's perfect for people who like toys that are on the petite side. The tip is thicker than the body so it feels thicker when inserting it, but it feels much thinner when thrusting.

In all, the Slender is about 6 and a half inches long. About 5 and a half inches of that are insertable, making it about the length of the 'average' penis. The 'tulip' shaped head is about an inch and a half long, and the widest bit of about an inch down from the tip.

The thickest part of the tip is just over 4 inches around. The body of the toy is more like 3 inches around, much thinner than the tip. The base of the toy is about 2.5 inches in diameter, and is very stable. The base does not have a suction cup feature to it.

Between the shape and firmness, this toy is designed great for thrusting and g-spot stimulation. Being someone who dislikes feeling 'stretched' at her entrance but likes g-spot shapes, it's perfect. If you haven't been penetrated before this may be a bit large to start off with, but with lube it will be doable for most people.

If you leave this on the table it's not going to scream 'dildo,' but you also can't really pass it off as a piece of modern art or anything. It's also good for people who want something that's semi-realistic but not too phallic.

Overall, the design will be great for both new and advanced users, but may be a bit large if you're not used to penetration. Especially good for people who aren't huge fans of girth, this is a solid toy design for moderately intense g-spot stimulation.

Performance

This dildo doesn't vibrate, but I have found that some of the best toys don't. Not having a motor allows for more creative and flexible designs, and you don't have to worry about the settings being too weak or loud. I have totally become a fan of non-motorized toys, and this is no exception.

It's entirely harness compatible, and the thick base makes it less flimsy than a lot of toys will be. It's also not considerably heavy like some, and so unless your harness is pretty loose this shouldn't pull it away from your body when at rest.

If you're looking for a toy that's harness compatible that's good for gender play, this isn't really the best bet. It's purple and smooth, and doesn't look much like the real thing at all. If you want something that you can pretend is real, you may want to seek a different toy (and line.)

You can also use this both anally and vaginally, which makes it great for solo use no matter what genatalia you happen to have. While I can't personally speak, what makes this toy good for g-spot stimulation should similarly make it good for p-spot stimulation.

It has not suction cup, and it's not really suction cup compatible. Some toys with a flat base like this has can at least stick to a wall moderately well, but this one just slides right off. None the less, it is entirely waterproof.

In all, this toy functions about as well as it seems. You can thrust with it and use it in a harness, but you can't stick it to the wall or make it vibrate. If you're looking for a dildo with basic functions, this is a great place to start.

Care and Maintenance

The Slender is a breeze to clean but a bit hard to care for. There are no seams or patterns in the toy itself that can get gunk stuck in them, so you really can just run this under the water to wash it. There is a slightly imprinted name of the brand in the base that might be a bother to clean if you need to, but since it's so far away from the toy itself I haven't found it an issue.

I clean the Slender with an antibacterial toy cleaner, but you can just as easily use soap and water or a toy wipe. If you want to disinfect this toy, which should be done every time you switch users or orifices to prevent infection, you can either boil it for 10 minutes or wipe it down with a 10% bleach solution.

Now for the hard part. It's a lint magnet! You either need to wash this both before and after every use or store it somewhere entirely lint free. You also need to store this out of contact with other silicone toys because the two could potentially react together and leave you sad. Similarly, silicone lube is off limits unless you spot test it on the base first to be sure.

Packaging

The Slender comes in a large, clamshell package. It's transparent in the front where the toy is held, and the front sports the name of the brand, the line, and the toy. It also has some pink and purple swirls and graphics that complement the color.

The back consists of a short blurb about the toy and pink, bulleted information. It talks about the care, the material, how it's harness compatible, and the shape. It's straight forward and informational, and it doesn't give you any nonsense about how you're about to be whisked away to the land of awesome dildo orgasms.

While there aren't any lewd sayings or naked women, it's not particularly classy or discreet. It's pretty obvious about what you're getting in the box and what it's used for. I would be fine wrapping this up and giving it as a gift, as long as the recipient is fine getting things of this nature.

Because of the size, this really isn't ideal for storage. While it's great because it keeps lint off of it, most just don't have the room to store the small dildo in the large packaging. It doesn't state if it's recyclable.

Experience

When I saw this go up for a sponsored review I was STOKED! It looked like a great girth and size for me, and the blue one was my favorite color. Usually I have a pretty good eye for what works for my body, and I have learned to trust my instincts. Unfortunately I ended up getting the purple one, but I shrugged and still anxiously awaited its arrival.

This toy did not let me down. Fellow people who like thin, soft toys this is going to be a must for your collection. If you like firmer toys or things with some more girth you may want to pass it up, but hey, more for us. (Kidding, kidding.)

Between the surprisingly high quality material (that I flame tested for good measure) and the design I would highly recommend it. The only con I can see with this one is that it's a horrible lint magnet, so I give it 4.75 stars. When rounded, this is a 5 star toy in my book.
