That's a Big Boy

The Kevin Dean Realistic dildo is an excellent choice for someone looking for a high quality large dildo. It's length and girth are too much for many people normally but the soft, yielding Sil-a-Gel construction allows this dildo to be squeezed down when inserted, letting people work their way up to larger sizes easily and comfortably.

Use

The Kevin Dean Realistic dildo from Doc Johnson is an oversized dildo molded from a real penis. Due to being made of Doc Johnson's proprietary material Sil-a-Gel it is very smooth, soft, and somewhat porous. I own a few toys from the Doc Johnson Titanmen line that are also made of Sil-a-Gel and the difference is huge. My other toys are stiff and hard while the Kevin Dean here is soft, pliable, and incredibly lifelike. It warms up to body temperature very fast so it feels good internally, and has enough rigidity to insert easily while being flexible enough to navigate the twists and turns of your body when necessary. The very large size and length make this dildo a little ungainly to hold and the weight might tire your arm out if you are thrusting with it for long, but the very strong suction cup on the bottom can help with both of these challenges. By sticking it to a wall or the top of a table, you will have an easier time of getting this dildo to do what you want.

Material / Texture

The Kevin Dean is made of antibacterial Sil-A-Gel making it very soft, smooth, and somewhat porous. While it ranks only a five on the material safety ranking here on Eden, I have found Sil-A-Gel to be a great material for sex toys and I have had no trouble cleaning it in the past. It's an especially nice choice for a realistic dildo since the soft resistance of the material very accurately imitates the feel of human flesh. When it is warmed up to body temperature, you can scarcely tell the difference.

Because Sil-A-Gel is a PVC compound, toys made from this materials tend to have a strong odor. My Kevin Dean shares the same smell I first smelled when I bought two toys from the Doc Johnson Titanmen line, also made of Sil-A-Gel. With those toys I tried to wrap them in bags to hide the smell but had no luck. It wasn't till I left them out in the room, sometimes with the window open to get some air flowing that I noticed the smell dissipate. It took a few months but now I don't notice any smell at all from my Titanmen toys and I'm currently in the process of airing out Kevin Dean with good results so far. Already the smell is barely noticeable and soon it will be gone.

Design / Shape / Size

As you can see from the pictures, the design of this dildo is very realistic and very large. It measures just a little less than 13 inches long with about 10 of that insertable. It measures at 7 inches of circumference or about 2.25 inches diameter. Clearly this is not a toy for beginners. While the material is soft and has some good flex to it, you should be comfortable taking large before trying this one out. The long length makes it unwieldy and would be a poor choice for a first large dildo. If you are comfortable with the size however, the Kevin Dean would be a great addition to a toybox that is lacking either a large, long dildo or a suction cup dildo.

Performance

The Kevin Dean performed very well for being such a large dildo. Initially I had trouble getting it to cooperate since it is so long and heavy, but once I stuck the suction cup down to the top of my coffee table I was able to get much more control out of it. The Kevin Dean can stand up on its own, but only just barely. It lists heavily to one side and stresses the suction cup quite a bit but so far I have never seen the cup fail. I found the toy warmed up to my body temperature very quickly and the softness of the material made the initial insertion very easy for being so big. It did well with several types of water based and silicone based lubes but I did not try it with any oil based lubes because of compatibility issues.

Care and Maintenance

Sil-A-Gel is antibacterial and non-toxic which makes it very easy to clean. Soap and warm water will take care of anything on the material and a toy cleaner or antibacterial wipe would give you a little extra protection as well. Since it is a realistic dildo you will need to take extra care around the texturing to clean it effectively. The Kevin Dean is compatible with most lubricants though I would avoid any oil based lubes since some types of PVC react poorly. As with any soft toy, you should store this one in either a cloth or plastic bag so the material does not deform or melt from touching another soft toy. Certain jelly toys have been known to have this problem so do not allow this toy near any jelly.

Packaging

The Kevin Dean comes in a large cardboard box with a photo of the dildo on the outside. Nothing subtle about that. Inside you find care instructions, info on what to do if the suction cup detaches, a signed photo of Kevin Dean, and of course, the dildo. What I really liked about this packaging job was that the dildo came with its own fabric storage bag. It's a crimson red bag with the Doc Johnson logo stamped all over it but you otherwise can't tell what is inside. This is a great addition because for all the positives of Sil-a-Gel, one negative is that it picks up lint and dust very easily.

Follow-up commentary
The Kevin Dean realistic has pretty much become my favorite dildo. The thickness is excellent, the length is incredible and filling when it's all the way inside, and the suction cup holds it nice and steady. My only gripe with it is the fact that the suction cup is permanently attached which makes it very hard to use this dildo with a harness system. Otherwise I think this is a fantastic item.

Used only once and stored in the black velvet bag. Took it out and it had black all over it, leached from the velvet bag. Tried cleaning but to no avail. It has become unsightly. And while agree with the reviewers, it is pliable. The leaching, staining issue is a problem.

Thanks for a great review. Good to know that the smell fades over time and that the material feels like the real thing. I may have to get this, or one of the other Titanmen.
