Cocky smoothy with base - dildo discontinued by Doc Johnson - review by DrNike69

I am a sucker for classic dildos with a fun take on the penis shape, and love long insertables, and I thought the Cocky Smoothy with Base would be great fun. It is a basic dildo, with the added plus of a base for use on a harness (which I didn't have handy, unfortunately. Mine is AWOL.) However, I prefer long, hard dildos, and the Cocky Smoothy is long, but not hard in the least. It has a definite excessive amount of jiggle to it. As a result, it makes it difficult to use as a basic penetration device.

The toy is made of rubber, making it relatively porous, and hard to keep clean. Condom use is recommended to increase the life of the toy. The toy has that weirdly super sweet smell that many rubber toys seem to have, but it is extremely strong in this specific toy. I washed it before first use, and have washed it subsequently, and it is still very strong. I left it on the bathroom counter overnight, and the next morning the grossly sweet rubber smell permeated pretty much every fabric in the bathroom. I've washed it multiple times since, but to no avail, since it still smells just as strong.

It is slightly realistic, in the sense that it is not a stiff piece of hard plastic. However, the toy is very very floppy, and when stood up straight does not hold its "erection". The shape of the head and the bumps do add a small amount of stimulation when thrust in and out, but as soon as its past the first inch or so the toy becomes more "packing" and less a good thruster.

I totally do not like the design at all of this toy. It is too floppy and unstructured for me. If it was a harder toy, the shape would be awesome. Even in a harness the toy would be great and useful, but I just prefer a harder thrusting toy and less of a packer.

The size might be a bit much for a beginner, but the average person could take the toy well. But alas, I still feel like it would be much more pleasuring if the toy was solid and firm rather than wiggly.

As far as discreetness or travel, the toy fails on both accounts, partially because of its size, and mostly because of the smell. When packed near clothes or anything else, the strong smell permeates fabric, and requires washing to get out.

The best thing about this toy is the shape - the semi realistic design feels great. But, as with everything else great about this toy, it is overshadowed by the extreme floppiness and wiggly-ness of the toy. I really love the texture and feel of the toy, except that it is floppy. Had it had some sort of inner structure to it making it firm, I believe this toy would have exceeded all my expectations.

The toy is harness compatible, but as stated before my harness is hiding somewhere at the moment. The base seems firm, and very capable of being stable on a harness. As soon as I find mine I will update this review.

This toy, since it's made of rubber, is porous. You shouldn't switch between anal and vaginal use without using a condom, and use of a condom is recommended anyway to extend the life of your toy. It is easy to wash, with some antibacterial toy cleaner, and you can use both silicone and water based lubes. The smell is still very strong though, so use of a condom to both increase cleanliness and reduce smell is recommended, and the smell should be taken into consideration when storing the item.
