Two for the price of one: a double headed dildo for solo play
A double headed dildo with specialized functions, Ella will serve you best as a solo toy. Her two heads allow, on the wider side, g-spot stimulation as well as, on the longer, more narrow side, the pleasures of a traditional phallic shape. Her negligible weight makes her easy to hold and her well placed curves make it easy to stimulate the hard to reach g-spot.Published: September 2, 2008
Pros:
Seamless design, light, g-spot stimulating head.
Cons:
None.
If there were a prom for sex toys, LELO's Ella would be prom king, queen and royal page. Sleekly designed, she's a double-headed dildo specially designed to allow you to hit sweet spots without straining your wrist to get just the right angle.
Ella is a double headed dildo but is, unlike many other dildos of that category, primarily suited for penetration of one person at a time. Although Ella may be light enough (at 111 grams- a real twig!) for some to grasp using Kegel muscles and penetrate a partner, she measures in at just over seven inches in full which means that if her g-spot stimulating end is inserted far enough to stimulate one partner's g-spot, the protruding length is somewhat lacking. Instead of allowing dual penetration, Ella's unused head provides an effective handle which fits nicely into one's hand and can be used to perfectly direct the head which is inside you.
Indeed, Ella is a star at what she is designed for: diverse and exciting solo play. Her seamless design allowed me to slide her in and out of my vagina without thinking about anything except the magical feelings she was arousing inside me. I was particularly thrilled by the end of Ella designed for g-spot stimulation, as I felt that it perfectly pressured my g-spot without requiring me to adjust my body and arms in ways that felt unnatural. It is not only curved up but is also wide enough to maximally stimulate the g-spot, a favorite spot in my anatomy which many dildos fail to reach.
Ella's g-spot head really got me going. But, this isn't to say that her traditional head was anything to scoff at. It's somewhat different than some other traditionally shaped dildos in that the head is designed to be pointier than that of a biological penis. This took a little getting used to as I normally play with dildos whose head is wider than their shaft, if the two are different. But Ella's design proved really satisfying since it allowed me to direct the pressure of the dildo more specifically and explore how it felt to direct pressure in spots, particularly on the walls of my vagina, whose stimulation I hadn't previously considered.
Let's talk about presentation. How many dildos do you know that come with not only a snazzy black box but also a satin sleeve? How many dildos do you know that come with not only a user manual with tips on how best to enjoy your toy but also a one year warranty? Lelo has taken the time to build a house every bit as beautiful as the toy for Ella to inhabit. It's to the point where I'm considering displaying Ella on my mantel as an art piece: precious stone cut from gorge, small clay statue of woman figure and my dildo.
Taking care of Ella is simple. She's made of pure silicone so you can wash her with soap and water though she can, of course, also be sterilized by placing her in boiling water. You should wash her after every use. With respect to lube, be warned: Ella should not be used with silicone based lube as it will make her surface tacky. Use a condom and water-based lube to keep her in peak condition.

Follow-up commentary
7 months after original review
Ella has continued to meet my expectations in every way. Her silicone is as soft and velvety as the day I bought her, and I continue to be thrilled with the ease of care which pure silicone toys afford. One way I’ve come to enjoy using her since I wrote the initial review is to insert her in addition to (specifically, on top of) another dildo. It’s allowed me to enjoy all the g-spot stimulation of Ella’s sleek design while also having the fullness of a bigger toy.

ella vs. others

I want to get ella as my first she doesn't seem as menacing as the others made of glass or metal but are those materials better sensation wise?
-
It comes down to personal preference, really. You're not going to know if glass or metal feels better to you until you try.
A couple things to keep in mind, though: glass and metal have absolutely no give, so they tend to feel bigger than silicone toys of the same size. They're also rather heavy in most cases, and so you need to be a bit more careful when you use them. Being too rough can result in internal bruising. They're very slick and smooth, though, unlike silicone which typically has some drag to it.
The Ella is pretty rigid for a silicone toy, but it's very light and easy to use. It's great if you're new to dildos. :) -

How Does Lelo Ella compare to Gigi?
-
I know that Ella doesn't vibrate, but are there many other differences? I am wondering whether the Ella might be a better shape or size for g-spot stimulation

Would the Ella work well for a beginner?
-
I'm thinking of getting my bestfriend this for Christmas but she is new to toys. Would this be a good toy to give a newbie? I have not tried it myself so I'm not sure how easy it is to master.
-
I have the similarly shaped Gigi and found nothing but frustration when trying to thrust with it.
-
i think it would be a good option for a beginner.

I need help the Ella curve is doing me in.
-
I am not sure what I am doing wrong. I have read every review and some twice. I can not figure this girl out. I want to write a review but, how can I write a review on something I do not get. Any ideas would be wonderful. Please help me enjoy this beautiful toy.
-
What do you not get about it? Not every toy works for every woman. Does it hurt to use? Maybe your vagina is too small for it yet or maybe you just need some lube. Do you not feel anything? Again, nothing is for everyone. Try sqeezing the toy by doing kegels when you use it. Some women say that makes things feel better. Or maybe try tilting it up towards your g-spot. That works for me with other toys.
I haven't used it yet. Just recently purchased a white Ella. And I can't wait! We've got the same name! :D -
If you don't get it you can still write your review from that perspective. I'm sure you wouldn't be the only one who had that experience with it. I have the Ella and she's nice but she's not fireworks for me and that's ok. We all have different experiences with toys and that is what makes these reviews so valuable.

Dildo vs. Vibrator
-
I am having a hard time getting used to the idea of a dildo vs. a vibrator! As far as using one goes, how does one decide which is better for oneself? Just wondering and thanks!

Just wondering and thanks! What I mean by this I think is, is it easier with one than the other, or maybe does it require a different mind set or even is one better with partner play vs. solo? I don't know, LOL, just curious.

When we started with toys it was all about clit vibes for 'effective' reliable orgasms. But as we got into g-spot and a-spot stimulation, dildos have advantages over vibes because pressure is more important than vibes.
Now we almost always have some of both going on. A dildo for internal and a clit vibe for external - although she occasionally likes two vibes.
The only truism I've found is that what she wants/needs is different almost every time. I use to think 'this worked last time - so lets do it again' - but now I think 'we did that last time - what can I do to mix things up'.
That's why we have dozens of toys - both vibes and dildos.

Ella for beginners
-
Hey! I was just wondering if Ella would be something an absolute beginner could use, someone who's never gone looking for her g-spot before. She seems awfully tempting, but I wonder if I it's too advanced a toy for me?

Ella was the first one that worked for me. Several people have had their first successes with Ella.

Ella and Gigi

I've had both the Ella and the Gigi sitting in my shopping cart for days now. I was wondering.. should I get them both, or should I maybe just get one to try, then maybe later on get the other if I want?
They both seem so worth it, it's hard to just pick one! -

I was wondering.. should I get them both, or should I maybe just get one to try, then maybe later on get the other if I want?I just bought the Ella and have not tried it yet, but everyone seems to love it. I have had the GiGi for a couple of months and rarely use it, mainly because the control thing is located in the worst possible spot, and I invariably hit it and make the settings change! Argh! I also had no luck with it for g-spot stimulation, and the only times I get it out it is for clit work.
They both seem so worth it, it's hard to just pick one!
Even though I wasn't crazy about GiGi, it seems to do the job for a lot of people, so it might work for you. In fact, I bought it based on all the wonderful reviews. I've come to the conclusion that there is no one toy that will do the trick for everyone. Everyone is VERY different in their tastes and what they need. -
I agree that no toy is good for everyone. I can not get a rabbit vibe that actually works for me by stimulating my clit and vag at the same time. Perhaps its operator error.
Anyway, I love the Gigi. I solved the control issue for me anyway by wiping the lube off the control and my fingers...success. The effectiveness of the Gigi is the vibe plus the design. I don't have the Ella, which is not a vibe but I see it as similar to many of the g spot dils available.

Thank you for viewing Ella – dildo sex toy review page!

What a neat toy. It looks very interesting yet simple. This may have to go on our wishlist.
This looks amazing - plus the price is definitely right. Thanks for the detailed review.
It looks as though the head on the smaller end, is alot similar to my gigi from lelo which I love! I just might have to get this one too! Thanks for the review! =)
AND it's $37. OH man.
Toying couple- I would definitely put it on your wish list. It should allow you to get to know eachother's bodies in new ways given how specifically you can direct the pressure of the longer point.
PornLibrarian and Epiphora- Agreed! It's nice to have some high quality, well designed dildos out there for the lighter budget.
Oggins- Though I can't speak to its similarity to the Gigi, I'm thrilled that Lelo has figured out the secret to hitting the g-spot and is incorporating it into the design of multiple toys!
I admired this when I say it at LELO's site. Whoever is in charge of stocking new products, STOP READING MY MIND!
*puts on tinfoil hat*
No.Wait. DO read my mind if it means really nice toys in stock.
The black variation just looks sexy.
I've wanted this toy since I first saw it, it seems to have all the cool features of the Sugar Drop dildo and none of the faults, plus it's LELO. :D
I'm glad to see it on Eden (I hadn't seen it before your review). Thank you so much for bringing the stock to my attention, and for providing information about it.
It does look almost exactly like the Sugar Drop, but without those weird bubbles. It's a steal, from LELO especially.
I want this!
I want it, too! Thanks for the great review!
You're welcome and you're welcome! Enjoy!
Is it firm enough for good g-spot stimulation? I use a glass dildo for my g (which is much firmer and has more weihgt than silicone, thats why I am asking :)
Excellent review
Thanks ;)
I've never used anything firmer than pure silicone for gspot stim, so I guess I wouldn't know how it measures up to something like glass. It felt pretty good, though, in a general sense. If you end up buying it, you should definitely update us on how they compare.
Loving this and the price. It's now on my wish list :D
this was a bit too thin for me, but i only tried it once, and i had waited until i was so excited that i didn't really give it half a chance before i reached for a tried and true toy. i so hope i get another chance soon. my household is so busy that it may be awhile before i get any time for myself again though
Most excellent review and now I want one! Thanks
About how big qould you say the g-spot end is? Do you have any trouble inserting?
Small. I didn't have any trouble inserting--the pleasure of the g-spot end is really in the way it's shaped, and the way you can manipulate it inside of you, not in the size itself.
great review
Great review!
