Works Well While It Lasts!

I prefer to pay a little more and get a higher quality, longer lasting, non-vag-burning product that doesn't reek like an oil rig. Otherwise, the design and shape of the double dong are beautiful. Perfect for beginners to double dong sex play, and easy on your insides. Cover with a condom (or two!), plug your nose, and you're good to go.

Use

The Translucence Smooth Double Dong by California Exotics is manufactured for dual play -- be it you and your partner sharing it, or using it solo in both vagina and anus simultaneously (the dong is very bendable). The toy must be used with a condom as its jelly material will offgas a rather unpleasant smell, and will create an unpleasant burning sensation in your sensitive areas. Plus, if you're sharing with a partner or using it in multiple holes of your own, you will want to use a condom to avoid fluid exchange between you and a partner or bacteria transfer from your own anus to your genital area.

Material / Texture

The material of this toy really turned me off of it. However, as it was my first dildo (a gift from a boyfriend... never used dually whatsoever, oddly enough), I used it til I could no more. The jelly material will 'offgas' with an offensive chemical smell. I used it for a while without a condom, not knowing any better, but after a couple of months, had to use one, and eventually had to throw it away.
The material developed dark spots inside the translucent body, began to deteriorate creating bubbles and divets, continued to smell horribly, and burned my vagina terribly when I used it. Eventually, even the addition of a condom could not curb the burning and I had to throw it away.
As a jelly product, California Exotics' double dong also attracts every speck of dust, hair, etc. in a mile radius and they are not simply rinsed away -- some have to be dug out -- and since the material is sticky (and becomes stickier with age and deterioration) could ruin the toy eventually.

The material is quite soft and squishy, and the entire toy is very bendy and floppy. It has give when a finger is pushed into it until about 2 cm deep. This aids in its gentleness inside you (if you're not burning from the material) and its realistic feel. No dangerous vaginal wall-bruising plastic here.

Design / Shape / Size

The shaft of the double dong is smooth, allowing for easy vigorous thrusting. The head ends with two ridges for added stimulation of both parties/orifices.
It is not super realistic, which for me is a plus. Realistic penises kind of freak me out. It has a pleasing semi-abstract look to it, with the bulbous heads on either end being the only real giveaway to its use. However, I wouldn't dare say it's discreet at all, as anyone checking out your baggage through airport security would either scoff or giggle at it.
A separate hard plastic case is recommended for storage to deter this dong's dust collection habit.

Performance

In its early life, this was the first toy (coupled with my egg vibrator) to bring me to orgasm. Bravo, double dong! Its smooth texture and perfect 1 1/2" diameter is great for beginners to sex play, as well as toys. Although it is enormous in the setting of masturbation for vaginal penetration, it still did the job. The 12" length, weighing in at 1 lb., was more than enough for vaginal play if not a bit too much. I had to be careful not to thrust too deep, as that could occasionally hurt a wee bit --- not from the hardness of the toy but simply the fact that nothing belongs that deep inside me!

Care and Maintenance

I recommend water based lube only just to be safe with the jelly material used here. A condom is HIGHLY recommended if you are to brave the land of jelly toys (which I do NOT recommend, honestly. Spending a little more to get much better quality will never leave you in the land of regret).

The use of a condom is dual purpose: for hygiene as well as protection from the chemicals in the jelly.

Store in a hard plastic case in a cool area only, or the toy may melt a bit. Wash with soap and water, not dishwasher safe.

Jelly never has been and won't ever be a quality sex toy material. It is cheap and low quality. You really get what you pay for. It stinks, it disintegrates, it burns your delicate innards, then it gathers all the lint and dust it can magnetically attract, and develops ugly moles inside.
Even a condom after a while is not enough to combat the force of the jelly. Toxic, that's what it is.

haha... personal preference only... as a bicurious kid with strange sexual abuse past, my boyfriend's dick is the only one i feel comfortable with. dicks as inanimate rubbermade objects are really just too much for me.

also, as an artist and therefore one who goes gaga over pretty things, the swirly twirly semi-phallic shapes of nonrealistic dildos really pull me.

Yikes! This sounds so awful! I had a similar experience with this vibrator maybe 4 years ago. It was my second vibrator ever, and though it says it is made of TPE, not jelly, it ended up similar to this within 3 months or less. Luckily, soon after that, I discovered EdenFantasys and learned about toy materials!

    • So my partner and I have been looking into getting a feeldoe. Can anyone really tell me if they are worth the money? Are they hard to use or to learn to use? Thanks!
    • Here are my thoughts on the Feeldoe. We've had ours, a Feeldoe Slim, for a number of years now and in general like it.

      Some things to note: unless you have exceptional control it is not really a "harness free" dildo. We found it to be much more stable when it was in a harness, but that with that extra stability it worked great. It does provide some internal stimulation for the female wearer, and the vibes from the bullet carry nicely to the bulb end, but it only has one "on/off" setting. The Feeldoe is also not very soft as silicone toys go, still a good feel, and a nice weight for balance purposes.

      We've also found the bulb to be a nice handle of sorts for solo play.

      Is it worth it? I think we've probably gotten our money's worth out of it. I enjoy it, it's more interactive than your typical strapon, and it's a solid product that has lasted us over 5 years (and showing no real signs of wear).

      Still I'd be curious to try something like the: Share so I had a point of comparison. The design looks a little more developed than the Feeldoe.

      In either case, I think both would be probably best used with a harness. Other than that, they're not hard to use.
    • Boink pretty much said everything I could've said on the topic. I'd really like to try the Share at some point, because the internal part looks much easier to have a hold on. Either way, I'd recommend using it with a standard o-ring harness, just for better control. It's definitely quality, though, and it'll last for a long while.
