You can't go wrong at this price!

I had a blast with Mr. Softee and still do. It's a fantastic anal dildo that feels great, and I would have rated it 5-stars. However, the cheap material and it's potential to be less satisfying vaginally hold it back from that.

Soft, good girth, excellent texture, and a flared base with slight suction cup properties.
Cons
Material, girth may not be enough for some, may be too soft for some.

extremely useful review
Mr. Softee is a fantastically low-priced dildo, that can be used either vaginally or anally due to it's testicular base. It's made of the sil-a-gel pvc material, so one should probably use a condom when using it, particularly if it's ever going to change orifices (which it shouldn't, in general). One should also stick to water-based or silicone lubes when using it, to prevent degradation.

Sil-A-Gel is a bit of an odd material, as it's not actually a material. It's more akin to an additive that is supposed to give some antibacterial properties to whatever material it's used on. That said, having an antibacterial object in orifices that have some natural good bacteria may or may not be the best idea. I've heard of some women who've gotten yeast infections due to a bad reaction with it, while I also know that most things that mess with your rectal bacteria are a bad thing. With that in mind, I've always used a condom on this excellent dildo, though I've only ever taken it anally.

However, one major plus for the material is the softness of it, probably due to it using PVC. As the name implies, this thing is soft! It's not quite soft enough that it just flops everywhere and it still has some firmness if you're just trying to squeeze it, but it definitely has some give to it. This makes it fantastic for anal, as it easily bends and contour to follow your back door canal. I have not, however, tried it on my wife and cannot comment on it's vaginal usage directly. That said, some of the other reviews here have expressed disappointment for that, so you may want to keep this one solely for anal use.

Another consideration is the smell, which the toy will bring to the table consistently. If you've ever used another Doc Johnson toy, you can probably guess what it smells like. It's not necessarily bad, but it's powerful. Pretty much wherever you store this toy will smell like it, so consider that if you don't want your toy box to smell like some sort of artificial fruit. Another concern is that a powerful smell like that probably means that whatever softening agents were applied to the PVC to make it supple are leaching out slowly, which is another good reason to use a condom on it.

As for cleanup and packaging, this one is pretty simple. A quick wash with mild soap and water are generally enough to clean up anything left behind, and it's Sil-A-Gel additive should theoretically be pretty hostile to any bacteria left in any microscopic pores. That said, this toy has nothing to do with silicone (which the name always seems to imply) and cannot be sterilized. As mentioned earlier, condoms are a good idea with porous toys that can't be sterilized, especially if you're planning on keeping it around for lengthy span of time and many uses. The packaging is Doc Johnson standard, which is to say a plastic shell that can be used for storage with a humorous/informative paper insert that can be thrown away. This one, however, has a wonderful illustration on it that has lead to me keeping the insert around for later.
Experience
With the specific details out of the way, on to the experience! I originally purchased this dildo to see if I could handle the girth of the Share dildo's receiver end, as this one is pretty close to that according to the specs and actual sizes. It has performed admirably at that, and I'm pretty comfortable that I can move on to that silicone alternative pretty soon, since it too bends and can contour to one's insides. The previous dildos I had used were the Silk Medium and Triple Ripple Butt Plug, each of which had their own problems. Mr. Softee, however, was near perfect from day one. The soft curving let it slide all the way in with ease, and the girth is noticeable with a great sense of fullness. I do have to prep a little first and work my way up to it, but it's always worth the effort. My only real complaint with this toy is that it's not silicone, but that's somewhat invalidated by virtue of how cheap it is. Silicone simply isn't available in this price range, which is understandable.

A surprise benefit this toy offered was in the form its balls, which have a slight upward dip on the bottom side. That creates what is in essence a suction cup base, and I've definitely managed to use it that way on occasion. It's rather great to just slam this thing on a bathtub surface and pound away with no worries. It's definitely got me interested in suction cup bases for future purchases.

Because I originally purchased this just for a size check and still managed to become addicted to it, I would wholeheartedly recommend it. It's just the right girth and softness for anal, so you should definitely pick it up if you're on a budget and that's your intended use. If you're considering using it vaginally, or aren't easily impressed by cheap materials, then you may want to read some other reviews first to make sure it's right for you. Then again, how bad of a purchase can it be in a world of $7 coffees?
Follow-up commentary
This is still an absolutely fantastic dildo, and my personal favorite at the moment. It's a shame that it's been discontinued, but such is the fate of cheap dildos I suppose. However, you can find it's silicone cousin (albeit just a smidgen larger) as the Platinum Silicone Super.

Regarding the PVC/Sil-A-Gel material, you can alternatively pick up the Platinum (silicone) version of this dildo, here.

Good review! The only thing that could really make this better is if you had used the Extended Format. It's so much neater and easier to go to specific sections you're interested in, plus it can often give you ideas of information you wanted to add that you never would have thought of with the regular format.

glad you liked it, silicone does blow away most other materiel's.
  • Contributor: Spilock
True, but I occasionally like to switch it up and use this format. It makes me focus more due the tighter character limit, and it's a good change of pace. I think all but two of mine have been extended.

For what it's worth, this is still my favorite dildo. Even after acquiring some silicone competitors. I think I'll need to get a silicone version of this.
