Dial-a-dream # 61 - traditional vibrator discontinued by Doc Johnson - review by RedHead

This was my very first toy. After many years of marriage my husband approached me about my willingness to try new things. He was not specific, so I was surprised when he had this ready one night we were together. I was not sure what to expect, but he was so excited about using it I thought what the heck. I would have to say I was very glad this introduction to the sexually possibilities of toys occurred.

My husband has always been very good about foreplay, which usually helped me with having an orgasm. However, this new form of foreplay made a big difference in me having an orgasm. The first time was new to us both so it made it exciting.

My husband had bought some lubrication which made its introduction much better. I got in bed and waited with anticipation for what was to come. My husband did well to contain his excitement, and took things slowly which was good. He began by using it to stimulate my clitoris, which got me aroused much quicker than normal.

After a while he began to enter me slowly, back and forth, getting a little deeper each time with it. Before I knew it, it was totally inside me and everything after that was very nice. This toy also allowed me for the first time, to occasionally have more than one orgasm.

The best use of the toy is when he would take it out and stimulate me directly, before putting it back inside. When he was doing too much thrusting, I would get him to go back outside. When it’s in me I can feel the vibrations, but not as strongly as when he is moving it around my clitoris. This toy has been replaced with newer and better toys since then, but my husband did well in getting this. If you are a beginner, this is a good toy you can try. It does its job pretty well and doesn't overwhelm.

The TPR silicon that the Dial-a-Dream #61 is made of, was very nice. My husband said it had higher material safety rating, which means the designer thought about customer satisfaction. It didn't have any smell, that my husband said was indicated in some reviews for other toys. There is some give to the material, but it still has firmness so that I could enjoy its fullness inside me.

The texture was the most noticeable thing when I first saw it. The vibrator is divided into three progressively bigger sections. Additionally the entire shaft is ribbed. I could notice the different sized sections as it was being thrust in and out of me. The ribbing of the shaft I'm not sure I could really feel that much. Overall the texture added some to the experience, but it was really only the vibrations around my clitoris that allowed this vibrator to do its job.

The design of the vibrator makes it a great beginner's toy but, after that beginning period has past, you will want to seek out more. I don't think more experienced users would get much from this vibrator. The section at the bottom was designed well, since it is not ribbed, which allowed my husband to hold it easily.

Since this was my first toy, I felt it was a bit too long at the time. My husband learned how to best use it, but in the beginning he would sometimes get too deep which I found uncomfortable. Another nice feature about its design is that it's waterproof. It was not until later that I lost my inhibitions, and started enjoying toys by myself as well. Had I been less inhibited, then this would have been a great toy to use in a warm bath which I have done with a recent toy.

The vibrations can be controlled in intensity which was nice. I could have my husband start at lower vibrations to begin with, then increase the vibrations as I got more excited. The control however was what frustrated my husband sometimes.

The control knob is a circular disk that is flush with the handle. To adjust it you have to turn it. The problem was, that if my husband got any lubrication on his fingertips from thrusting it inside me, it was very hard for him to turn the dial. Even at the beginning he would sometimes have a hard time adjusting it properly.

This toy was very easy to clean after use, by using warm water and some mild soap. After use I would put it back into the plastic tray and the box it came in. The batteries were fairly easy to replace, but the batteries were triple A. There were 1 or 2 times that its use had to be postponed, because we had plenty AA batteries but no AAA batteries; since this toy was the only thing in the house that used them.

I liked the plastic tray that it came with, since it gave it a nice place to store it. The box itself was also made of plastic as well. However, after all the times of opening and closing the box lid, it did break off eventually. This was not a big deal though, since I still had the tray and could slide it into the box. Even with the missing lid, the rest of the box keep it protected.

This is where I like to include my husband's viewpoint. He really enjoyed picking this first toy out and surprising me with it. My husband has always enjoyed foreplay, but it was obvious that being able to use this toy on me was much more exiting for him.

Our foreplay used to involve things he did manually to get me aroused. With the toys he has more to visually enjoy, especially when he is thrusting the toy in and out of me.
