A Hard And Very Expensive Bullet

When first using Little Chroma I was disappointed by the features compared to the price. The more I use it, however, the more I see and feel the quality workmanship. While it won't deliver earth shattering orgasms, it is decent in vibration, and has a deep rumbling vibration. It is reliable and durable. Sleek and simplistic. Great for gift giving. It is a high dollar luxury item, but will last you a lifetime. For the price it does give you a quality toy, and I can't complain about that.

extremely useful review
The Little Chroma, by Jimmy Jane is best used for clitoral stimulation, but can also be used to tease the labia, vulva, perineum, nipples, or any sexy sweet spots that you enjoy most. Little Chroma may also be vaginally inserted for shallow penetration. Although the instructions that come with this toy hint at anal use and lacing a cord through the little holes on the cap for retrieval, I would not recommend it. It is simply unsafe. The idea of the cord however, is feasible to attach to the wrist while in the tub or pool, so that you will not drop it or lose it.
This would be a nice toy to use in conjunction to a dildo, full sized vibrator or anal toy. While Little Chroma has decent vibration, it is really no stronger than many of the low end clitoral vibrators I currently own. For the price tag on this toy, I really had expected a lot more. JJ explains the use of the 1 speed in this vibrator as "the right speed". Evidently, they did some sort of research that showed that most people want to vary the intensity of vibration, not the frequency. Little Chroma is designed to offer a quiet, low-frequency vibration that varies in intensity along its length. Most intense at the top, and gradually milder towards the cap end so that by repositioning you can receive a wide range of stimulation. I found it to have 2 speeds, high on the tip (4 vrooms) and low on the cap end (2 vrooms). Vibrations are deep and rumbling. Supposedly, its tuned in to the resonant frequency of the human body.

Of course, its biggest selling points are not that its the strongest or even the most functional of bullets, but that it will last you a lifetime; and the motor can be replaced for $20. It does seem to have a sturdy construction and feels good in my hand. It is pretty and sleek. I got the red one, but it is not the true cherry red shown in the photos. It has a distinct pinkish hue to it. Hmmm.
Another of its biggest selling points is that it is quiet. Well, it is and it isn't. While you twist on the cap; which takes a good while, it is noisy as all get out. Once this is done, however it is quiet. (2 bees) I would not call the noise discreet because if you are caught with it and proceed to start twisting that time consuming cap- you're busted. It would be best to just leave it on and try to place it somewhere out of sight.

Little Chroma is made of double anodized aluminum. Anodizing is an electrolytic process used to increase the thickness of the natural oxide layer on the surface of metal parts. Anodizing increases corrosion and wear resistance. So, Little Chroma is definitely made with quality materials and it should never ever rust.
Body safe and non-porous; it is phthalate and latex free, plus very hygienic. However, JJ states that if you have an allergic aversion to nickel, it is not advisable for you to use this toy as it has a small amount of nickel in it.

Little Chroma uses 1 AA battery which is included. I like that. The motor, which sort of looks like a battery is located in the tip of the bullet. You insert the AA battery atop this and twist the cap 15 times. Yes, I counted! This will automatically turn the bullet on. To turn off, twist the cap 15 times in the other direction.

My personal opinion is this- It makes a wonderful gift. The recipient will know that it costs plenty, will last them a lifetime, and if the motor ever fails them that they will only be out $20. It looks classy and comes in a discreet and elegant box that is easy to wrap. So that special lady who has everything is now taken care of at birthday or holiday time. Right? Well, along with that $150 bottle of perfume, you are set.
Experience
There is really not much to complain about with the Little Chroma (except the price), but I do detest that to be truly waterproof, you must have the cap securely on and running well before you step foot into the water. To turn it off, you must be in a dry environment, which means no steam may be involved. The outside of the Chroma must be dry to open it and turn it off. Therefore, you must leave the bathroom completely and have a small towel ready to dry it off before you can turn it off. That, to me is inconvenient. So if you are the least bit absent minded, as I am; and inadvertently open Little Chroma under moist conditions, your motor is history. By the way, Little Chroma is very slippery when wet and is not the least bit quiet banging against porcelain and tile.

Little Chroma is a tad over 5" in length, of which 4" is insertable. 2 1/8" in circumference, and about 3/4" in diameter.

JJ recommends cleaning after each use with mild soap and hot water, making sure to have cap tightly screwed on. I have found that the grooves on the cap need a little extra cleaning. To wash cap, take out motor and battery, scrub grooves with a non abrasive cloth. Make sure inside cylinder is completely dry before putting motor back inside. Dry with a soft cotton cloth. I have read that Little Chroma may be disinfected by bleaching or boiling without motor and battery of course, but JJ does not mention disinfection at all in their cleaning instructions, and I always do what the manufacturer recommends.
Water, oil, or silicone lubricants may be used, but you won't need but a dab if that.

A fresh battery is said to have 16 hour life span of play. Amazing!

Aluminum retains heat and cold well, making it excellent for temperature play.

If cap becomes hard to twist, JJ recommends that you put a tiny bit of petroleum jelly on the threading of the cap.

Its small size makes it perfect for travel.
Follow-up commentary
Little Chroma is an alright, so-so bullet. It lacks the strength and power that it should have for its hefty price tag. To me, it is more for people who buy designer jeans just for their brand name, not for the actual jeans themselves.

  • Price vs little chroma
    • Is the price worth the little chroma??? any one with long term useage?
    • Quote: Is the price worth the little chroma??? any one with long term useage?
I have bought 2. The first chipped on concrete while transporting it to my boyfriends house. I think it had repeated shocks to the motor because I was dropping it while I was getting out of the bath. Then the motor became noisy and not so effective. I moved on to my eroscillator for a while, but eventually I bought another little choma because I missed it so much. So yes, I think it is worth it. And if you look after it it will look after you. Tie a strap around the end of the little chroma if you're going to use it in the shower so then you won't drop it. This is easily done, there are holes for such a strap. If transporting it elsewhere keep it in a nice safe pouch. Don't grab it on the way out of the house without putting it away in your bag anyhow. You may regret it later.

As far as vibrators go, my clitoris is an extremely fussy girl. I can get off with the eroscillator or the little chroma, but anything else has honestly been rather a difficult endeavour. I've tried decent bullets and pocket rockets and traditional vibrators but none has come close. I've tried a vibrator with weird patterns. Honestly, all you need is this one speed. It varies in intensity across the shaft. The little chroma has a decent power at a discreet noise level. It also has a beautiful hard smoothness and doesn't cause irritation. As goldilocks would say 'It's just right'. Just make sure your batteries are charged (the only ones that fit are eneloop), or get some fresh non-rechargable ones before you judge its power.

      Plus they are pretty!

LOL I hope you enjoy my mini review. You can read my full review on the site too if you like.

  • Jimmyjane where you at???
    • So I've been looking into Jimmyjane more and more the past few months after all the hype finally got to me. The toy that seems to tickle my fancy the most would be the little chroma. The whole high quality, small, sleek, simple, quiet, waterproof, metal thing really gets me going. However, the sexiest version of the toy for me is the steel version *pictures it sitting innocently next to my mac, complemented by the brushed steel lamp on the bedside table*, which costs a whopping $195. Now, I'm okay with spending the money on a single toy, as long as it's the right toy. Trouble is, I've been to maybe 12 adult toy stores in three different cities around my state, NC, and not only did the majority of them not carry Jimmyjane toys, the only ones that did were adam and eve and although the chain carries a few of the toys, the specific stores did not. What's worse, some of the other stores had never even heard of Jimmyjane. And yeah, it took some effort to not exclaim "and you do this for a living?!?!" Anyways...

Not being able to see, touch, test/witness the vibration of the toys before hand is a big problem to me, especially when dealing with such expensive toys.

Does anyone have any idea where I can get my hands on any of their friggin products? I mean sheesh, I'd be willing to make a minitrip to a surrounding state for funzies at this point. SEX TOY ROADTRIP! I just have to lay my eyes on em, ya know? Sneaky little things... Has anyone else had the same experience with not being able to find them?

Or can anyone who owns a little chroma/little something offer a more specific comparison of power to some other more available and comparable toy? I've read all the reviews on this site as well as others. I just want something more like, "at the strongest point it feels similar in intensity to the (#) setting of (manufacturer)'s (toy name)." If that's at all possible...
    • Might I suggest sending one of the reviewers a message and asking them? I would bet Sam, Owl, Darling Jen or wetone123 (among others) would be happy to help. :) You may look to see what vibes they have to see if you happen to have them too, that would give you a better idea on the comparison.
    • JimmyJane is based in San Francisco and you can see their products displayed at many of the top-tier sex boutiques around the US. They have a list of retailers on their website.

      HELL NO!

But I'm not a Jimmyjane fan. The look of their toys (expect the Form 6) don't do anything for me.
    • I've never understood having more than one of the same toy. I would much rather spend that $1650 on a variety of toys.
