A little more amateur than star

If you need a firm toy with strong vibrations then just go ahead and skip this one. But if you don't mind a bendy toy with a good bit of give and weak vibrations then Stevie could be right up your alley, or vagina. Sea Foam Green and Black are awesome color options, and it's named after a rock star. Sounds like the start of a great toy, but it falls so short...

Use

The Rock Star Stevie by Doc Johnson is a g-spot vibrator, so it is meant to stimulate the g-spot. This toy could work for anyone. It has some give and isn't very hard, so a beginner or someone who does not care for hard toys could enjoy this. Also anyone who does not care for very strong vibrations might also enjoy this. I was not expecting so much flexibility and give, or the weak vibrations. I had really high hopes that this one would work for my clit 'o' steel and g-spot 'o' steel, but those two issues prevented that.

Solo play and partner play can both be enjoyed with Stevie.

It is a little bit on the buzzy side as far as loudness goes. If you are concerned about being heard, this can be heard through a closed door.

Material / Texture

Stevie is made mostly of silicone with the exception of the thick silver ring near the handle which is made of plastic. The silicone is soft and smooth to the touch and has a good bit of give to it. It sinks in a few centimeters when squeezed, so when it is being inserted it collapses a bit and takes away from the full feeling. The plastic ring is a bit bumpy but barely. There is nothing to the texture since it is smooth so anyone could enjoy it. If you are especially sensitive to a lot of texture then you should give this a try.

There is very little drag when I run it across my skin, so with your choice of lube or your own fluid it won't drag at all.

Design / Shape / Size

I chose the design of this Rock Star vibe because it has a flared, somewhat flat head. I tend to enjoy a flared head for g-spot stimulation. It is 7 1/2 inches long with an insertable length of 4 1/2 inches and a diameter of 1 1/4 inch. I was excited about the diameter because I do like girth. When it came down to it there was just too much give and flexibility to this toy. It didn't get me as full as I'd like and it bent too much to allow enough pressure on my gspot.

Here is Stevie on her own:

Here is Stevie bent both ways to convey flexibility:

There is no mistaking that this is a sex toy, so travel with it at your own risk.

Functions / Performance / Controls

The vibrations can be felt okay throughout the vibe while holding it in your hand, though they are more focused sort of in the center. While inserted the vibrations get pretty lost, and even on the highest setting they don't touch my g-spot. I like to be able to put a decent amount of pressure on my g-spot, but Stevie was so bendy and just didn't allow for that. So between the lost vibrations and the over-flexibility, this did not meet my expectations.

The controls are on the bottom knob and it is a dial. It is a bit hard to turn and I had to take the vibe out to turn it up, which was a pain. It takes 2 AAA batteries.

This is waterproof and I used it in the shower. No water got into the battery compartment at all.

Care and Maintenance

Since Stevie is made out of both silicone and plastic you should make sure you are caring for it in the best way possible that is compatible with both materials. The best way to care for this toy is to simply wash it with soap and water and to use only water-based lubricant.

To store it you can put it wherever you keep your other toys.

Packaging

The package is a simple plastic box. Easy to recycle, probably not the best for storage since it is bulky and would take up alot of space.

Personal comments

I have been lusting after Rock Star Stevie for a while. I finally decided to buy it and give it a try. I was really excited when I got it in the mail, but when I opened the package and took it out I was a little bit bummed. It was way more flexible than I was hoping it would be, and it just did not pack that punch that my body requires. I think this toy can be great for other people, just not for me. It is okay, and I might use it occasionally, but I'll always have to use a very strong clit vibe along with it. Overall, I am giving it 3 stars, because it looks nice and feels good but it just did not work for my body.

It's been awesome working with you on this review, Holly Hox! It sounds like your body's just like mine in terms of not wanting a flexible toy, so I know just what you're writing about Hope everyone else can keep their eyes peeled for firm insertables after reading this.

Thanks for the review! It's a shame to see how loud it is compared to how little oomph it has!

Thanks for the awesome review! I didn't realise these were flexible toys, thanks for showing that in the pictures. I think I'll have to take it off my wishlist, I usually do better with toys that don't bend.

I have Janis and love it but good god she gets LOUD. Does the buzzing for this one have a bit of a loud rattle to it? Mine only does it on high but since I like lots of power, it seems to be unavoidable. I've read that other people have had issues with the noise made by Janis but I just wondered if Stevie rattled too or is it just loud buzzing?

  • Is Stevie too "Rocky"?
    • I had posted this generally under the vibrators category, but haven't received any response yet, so I thought I'd try here.

I was wondering if those that own this toy can tell me if it has a strong rattling sound, other than the normal vibration sounds that a vibrator should have? I saw (or rather heard) it in one review, but not in another. Could you please let me know of your personal experiences? Thank you Edenites!!!

  • Present?
    • Is this a good gift for for a family member, you know one who's really stylish and fashionable?
    • I wouldn't. Personally I just stick to gift cards.
    • I agree with schwaltze, gifting toys is risky business unless it's been specifically requested or you've been invited to make a selection for that person.

  • How awesome!
    • Silicone vibrators for $30? This makes me really happy. Good job, Doc Johnson.

It's so good to see options in the lower price range that are still totally body-safe. Vibrators for all! (rabbit)
    • AGREED!
    • I third that!
