A Purple Pillow of a Vibrator

The Enchanted belongs in a world of butterflies, rainbows, and Care Bears. It's smooth silicone, pretty periwinkle coloring, and pleasing design all make it a good choice for someone looking for a small, soft bodied vibrator. It also has a number of attractive features including light up buttons, 7 vibration levels, and waterproofness.

Use

When I first took the California Exotics Petite Couture Enchanted out of its box, my first thought was: "Awww. It's so cute!" It is! The Enchanted is marketed as a multifunction g-spot vibrator. It can be used both for internal insertion and clitoral stimulation. With its non-intimidating girth of only 4 inches, it makes a great choice for someone who is uncomfortable with larger toys or just starting out with penetration. Since the Enchanted is also relatively quiet, it is shared household friendly--not roommate friendly though! However, since the Enchanted is waterproof, you can take it into the tub or shower for some interesting partner/solo play.

Material / Texture

The body of the Enchanted is made from seamless Japanese medical grade silicone which means it is body friendly (Non-porous, phthalates free, hypo-allergenic, latex free), easy to clean, odorless, and tasteless. The silicone is not shiny at all, rather a smooth matte texture that reminds me a bit of the texture of a balloon--except when you rub your finger, even roughly, across its surface there isn't a squeaky noise.

It is very squishy! I can easily bend it in half and it has a good amount of give when squeezed between the fingers. Yet, if you just hold the end of the vibrator (the silver part), it does not flop around at all. However, I don't think the main part of the vibrator has a solid core, when you squeeze it, you don't feel anything solid until you reach the battery compartment.

The only negative as far as material goes is like most silicone products, it attracts everything! Also, since California Exotics did not provide any kind of permanent storage solution, you'll have to come up with some way to store the Enchanted to keep it away from hair/lint or else you'll have to de-lint before every use.

Design / Shape / Size

Though California Exotics describes Enchanted's design as "sophisticated" on their website, I feel that "whimsical" would be a more accurate description. I almost feel like it should have little eyes on the back of its "head" because it reminds me a bit of a cartoon purple worm. The Enchanted is simply very sweet. It comes in a soft periwinkle color with a pretty silver control panel.

Unfortunately, I found that the squishy material choice made the Enchanted ill-suited to providing the right amount of pressure as a g-spot vibrator. However, this could be a matter of preference since the softer silicone material can also make it an easy toy to insert.

The size of the Enchanted makes it accessible to those searching for something shorter and less girthy. At its thickest, it's only 4 inches. The exposed shaft part (above the control panel) is about 5 inches in length according to my measuring tape, but I found that only about 4 inches of length was insertable considering how there isn't really a handle on the Enchanted.

Finally, the Enchanted is discreet with its non-phallic design and unobtrusive coloring--but it's rather obvious what its purpose is given the shape and power buttons. It takes 2 AAA batteries, which makes it travel friendly since AAA batteries are easy to find at any gas station or convenience store.

Functions / Performance / Controls

The Enchanted has many quality features of a vibe twice its price. First, the nice thing about the control panel is its two-button feature: one for off/on and one for the vibration levels. Rather than having to cycle through all the 7 vibration levels to turn it off, you just have to click the on/off button. So convenient! The buttons also light up red when on, so no fumbling with the buttons when the lights are out.

Second, it has so much variety in its vibration levels! The first three levels are different vibration strengths. The next level is a bit hard to describe...it's a sort of burbly, rumbly vibration that then turns into a normal vibration. Then level five is a steady pulsing vibration. Level six is a bit faster pulsing. The final level is three pulses and then one drawn out vibration (Bzz, bzz, bzz, bzzzzzz). One of the best things about the vibrations is the soft silicone allows for them to be felt along the entire shaft of the toy.

As for noise level, I would have to say that the Enchanted is moderately noisy. I certainly would never use it with a roommate in the room and when it was at its highest level not under a blanket, I could hear it through a closed door.

Though the Enchanted is described as waterproof, I have not tested this feature out. At the point where the control panel meets the body of the toy, a bit of the silicone seems to be pulled away. I can sort of flex the seam of the silicone away from the metal part and see the plastic of the control panel underneath. Since I noticed that, I'm afraid of water leaking into there if I immersed it in water.
    • Easy to use
    • Lots of variety in function
    • Multiple settings

Care and Maintenance

The Enchanted is pretty easy to care for. Since it's nonporous, you can be sure that it will be clean after using just a bit of soap and water on it or an antibacterial toy cleaner.

Because it is silicone, it can only be used with water-based lubes (if you use a condom on it, be sure that its lube is water-based too). If you have other silicone toys, make sure you don't store the Enchanted "naked" with them.

Packaging

Packaging was simple. Nothing luxe that I'd save. Just a white box with the Enchanted photographed alongside a stream of water (surprisingly tame for California Exotics, maybe they're getting us now). Like I said earlier, it does come with a disposable styrofoam-y pouch that can be used to store the toy, but nothing special.
    • Discreet looking packaging

Personal comments

The Enchanted is, in so many obvious ways, a quality vibe with many attractive features. However, I found that it simply did not do much for me. This was really disappointing since I was so excited about having 7 levels to play around with! While it was fun to test out the different vibration variations, in the end, the Enchanted never led to a Big-O for me--after a frustratingly long try of working at it!

I wouldn't say it was the Enchanted's fault though, since it really is a nice toy. We simply aren't the best match in terms of material/vibration. The vibrations were ultimately lackluster for me during internal use (and at times, a bit too buzzy--almost ticklish at certain levels) and the Enchanted was too soft for me to get enough pressure when I tried using it externally.

No Big O is obviously a pretty big detractor in terms of how much use the Enchanted gets at my place, but I think considering what the Enchanted has to offer, my own personal experience is just that, a *personal* experience.
Follow-up commentary
So I've had the Enchanted for almost a year, and it has risen in ranks and become one of my favorites in my arsenal. When I first used the Enchanted, I was just beginning to use toys and I don't think I appreciated the lovely features of this one, but since trying half a dozen toys, I've done a 180 and revised my opinion. I'm in love with the Enchanted's soft cushiony ride and its bulbous head is perfect for external stimulation as well as very nice pressure on the g-spot. I wish the shaft was more curved for the g-spot, but the length is perfect. I can't feel the wrinkles on the body at all, but that might just be me. Its a nice toy for when I'm not looking for girth, since it is quite slender (comparable to about 2 fingers).
