Use

The We-Vibe Tango is a slightly-longer-than-standard rechargeable bullet vibe with a lipstick-shaped tip. It's best used for external genital stimulation, but you could use it for teasing all over the body. It's too small to really have any effective internal use, and there's no flared base to make it safe for anal use.

Material / Texture

The body of the Tango is made of smooth, hard plastic (Polycarbonate/Acrylonitrile Butadiene Styrene, or PC-ABS) with very little drag. It's latex and phthalates free which is always great (I'm sensitive to latex, so it's especially important to me). There is no smell or taste, even holding it right under my nose I can't detect anything.

The base is a draggier, softer texture, with the two magnetic charging points opposite each other and the activation button in the middle as a little raised bump in the material.

Design / Shape / Size

The Tango is only 3.5" long and 3/4" wide - this is only the slightest bit longer and wider than my middle finger. The tip has a rounded, very slightly convex lipstick shape that's itself .5" long. The size is nice and easy to hold, it's not heavy, but it's a good weight in the hand and feels sturdy. It has the words "We-Vibe Tango" embossed right near the base, but you can barely see or feel it. When on, an orange light shines through the base.

The Tango can be used with toys that accept a standard-size bullet, just remember that the Tango is a bit longer than most - so there needs to be room for it to protrude.

One odd thing is this little mark at the very tip of the lipstick. It's a remnant from the molding process, a little circle and mine had a tiny plastic "thread" hanging off it. It's not very noticeable and I can't tell it's there in use (I just picked the "thread" off).

The design itself is very discreet. It can easily fit in a purse and at first glance, it just looks like a minimalist lipstick case.

The charging plug is fairly small and well-designed so as not to take up more than one outlet (I LOVE when companies do this). The charger even has ergonomic curves for handling. The charger plugs into a little half-sphere base that attaches magnetically to the Tango. This is one of the best magnet chargers I've used - it's sturdier and stronger than Je Joue's and won't wiggle around and lose connection or screech.

However, the downside is that the magnet connectors protrude on the toy and it's a teeny bit annoying when hitting the button while you're not looking at it.

I always wondered why the little half-sphere detached, but it seems it would be wise to have that attached to the toy during travel (more if it was in luggage leaving your side than in a purse). There's no way to lock the Tango, and the button will turn it on immediately after it's pressed. It does need a pretty firm press to activate (but nothing like Je Joue's buttons), so I wouldn't be overly concerned about it activating in luggage, as long as its got a bit of padding around it.

Initial charging was about 90 minutes as expected and I haven't had any issues with it holding a charge. While charging, a little orange light will be lit on the sphere connector. It's very small and a little hard to see, but does the job.

Functions / Performance / Controls

The Tango has just one button on the base, like most bullet vibes.

The button is easy to press and will turn on immediately, and to turn it off quickly you can hold it down for two seconds. If you're going to just choose a setting and leave it or just keep increasing vibrations, that's perfectly fine; however, I like to go up and down in intensity at times, so it's a little annoying to have to cycle through all settings to get back to the start.

When you turn it off, it will remember the setting you were on last. Nice if you have a favourite, but you can't just turn it off to start back at the lowest setting, either.

The vibrations start out fairly strong. The Tango has four levels of vibration. To me, this is just like the MiMi's 2-5. The Tango feels a bit deeper and thuddier since the toy is so small and the whole thing will physically move quite a bit as it vibrates. It seems the motor is a bit closer to the tip than the base, but the vibrations are conducted throughout.

The toy also has four pattern modes. The first is a steady, strong pulse. The second is a moderately strong purr. Three is a very fast pulse, and four is ... the cha-cha? Really, it goes buzz-buzz--BUZZ-BUZZ-BUZZ!

The Tango is pretty quiet, but not silent. It's quiet enough to use under a blanket, but could be heard in the same room. It's not any louder than the MiMi, though it can make a rattlier sound at times.

We-Vibe says the toy is fully waterproof, but I have not tested this other than cleaning - which went without a hitch.

Care and Maintenance

We-Vibe recommends you clean this plastic, non-porous toy with soap and warm water, and that's exactly what you should do - it's waterproof, so very easy! You don't want to boil this toy due to the plastic and the internal mechanics. You could wipe it down with isopropyl alcohol as well.

You can use the Tango with water-based, oil, or silicone lubricants. I've found the texture to be smooth enough to not need lubricant, however, it could be fun for added sensation.

For storage, the Tango comes with a satin bag which is perfect for storage, as intended. Just keep it out of direct sunlight and try to keep it somewhere dry and cool, and not rubbing against other toys so the finish doesn't get scratched.
    • Easy to clean
    • Easy to store

Packaging

The box is white with subtle shiny stripe-bits and embossed classy lady-outlines on the sides. The box is very tasteful and clean-looking, but it is not discreet - it says "We-Vibe", has a picture of the contained toy and says "personal massager".

The box itself is nice quality, and though it's not a pretty display box like Je Joue's, it feels sturdy and well-made. The box opens up from the back and you're presented with the manual, the vibe covered in a plastic wrapper and charging components all nestled in. A plus is that the packaging is 100% recyclable.

There's a smaller box in there that has the charger in it, wrapped in plastic, cord secured with a twisty-tie, and cardboard over the prongs. There's also a plastic-wrapped storage bag, hooray! The storage bag is a nice silvery-white satin and it's lined with the same so that inside and out are nice and smooth. It's not the highest quality satin, but it's functional and not ugly.

The manual contains warranty and basic use information (in many languages) and discloses that the toy was designed in Canada and made in China.

Personal comments

This toy is very powerful for being so tiny and would be one of my first choices for travel. This vibe is so small, only a little bigger than a tube of chapstick and could even fit in a pocket. For powerful portability, this toy is an A++.

Also, it's worth noting that We-Vibe lists the Tango and Salsa as identical in power - in case you were wondering. So it's really a matter of which shape you feel will suit you best. The Tango has more variety in stimulation, with the Salsa having a nice pinpoint tip.

Experience

The Tango is about as strong, if not a bit deeper, as the MiMi and levels 3-4 are strong enough to bring me all the way. I've never been able to achieve orgasm manually or without fairly powerful vibrations. Just like the MiMi, I would recommend this toy to someone who is looking for a stronger and deeper experience than your typical smoothie or watch-battery powered bullet.

The Tango is really too small to use internally, you can but it's just a little tease that leaves you wanting something better suited to that purpose.

The bullet design is less ergonomic than the MiMi, but the more pinpoint tip is absolutely wonderful. It's very intense and you can really direct the vibrations right where you want them. I did notice that I had an easier time keeping this toy in my "sweet spot", since the tip is so small and well-angled. The flat part is nice for rubbing and tucking right in near the clitoris and you can turn it a bit or stand it up to apply more directed pressure.

I would definitely recommend this toy, it's great quality with a solid performance.
Follow-up commentary
I still like this as much as I originally did. I don't use it by itself very much, unless everything else is low on batteries or charging, but I love using it in place of the generally weak (and so far all weaker than the Tango) bullets that come with other toys.

The extra power that this gives bullet-compatible toys can be the difference in if it works for me or is a cute buy rather useless piece of silicone with a mediocre bullet.

Hands down, this is the best and strongest bullet I own.

This is a great stand-alone external vibrator if you don't mind the shape, but since they do the same thing for me, I prefer the MiMi or the Fresh for their more comfortable to hold shapes.

I've been torn between the tango and the touch for quite awhile. Your review has really pushed me more towards this toy. Thank you for an excellent and thorough review

Thank you all !

I was looking at the Touch, but I went with the Tango after consensus seemed to be that it was more powerful. The Touch does look more ergonomic for couples, though.

Thanks for the review. Lot's of great information for me to make a decision soon on what to buy! I like the softer textured materials but for stronger vibrations I can get over that and go with naked plastic.

  • We-Vibe salsa/tango vs Lelo Mia
    • well i see 4-5 vrooms vs 3 and i make my choice right there.
BUT the Mia has a usp port charger and is slightly larger.
has anyone tried the two? I have noticed that the we-vibe touch is WAY stronger than the we-vibe 3 but I haven't had a chance to feel either of these great silicone rechargeable bullet type clit vibes.

The Salsa and Tango are both stronger than Mia. Some people say the Salsa and Tango are a 4 but I rated them a 5. Either way, they are both very powerful and should do it for just about anyone when it comes to clitoral stimulation. You got 4 levels of vibrations and 4 "tease" modes with the Tango and Salsa. LELO is a great company but I recommend the Tango and Salsa if you're looking for powerful clitoral stimulation. I own the LELO Siri and I find my We-Vibes to be stronger but they are all nice. To me, I thought the We-Vibe II was a four on the vroom scale. I can almost guarantee you won't be disappointed if you go with one of the We-Vibes :).
    • I love my Mia and the fact that she is USB charged. She's awesome for me. Not super strong but I don't need much. I'm also a bit turned off by Salsa and Tango's controls, but that's just me. I really don't like single button controls on vibes. By the way, Salsa and Tango are plastic, which Mia is also, not silicone.

  • We-Vibe salsa and tango silicone or plastic?
    • I am confused. i was all ready o buya we-vibe tango until i read vbthat it is made of plastic. then i hopped on over to a canadian website and was told that its the same silicone as the other we-vibe products. it certainly looks like the same material
    • The reviews seem to agree that they're plastic.

I have both of these toys and they are both made of plastic. I wasn't into plastic until I seen one of them in action in a store and I was sold. It's easier to clean than silicone which is a plus. It glides nicely on the body. For the strength and functions it's worth it and I got over hating plastic real quick! The We-Vibe touch is silicone so you may want to check it out. I own the We-Vibe II and I plan to buy the touch at some point though I did get to hold each one in the store and the silicone makes the vibrations slightly less intense than the Tango and Salsa but it's still a nice powerful toy and they are all rechargeable, can't beat that!

  • Not on sale?
    • I jumped for joy when I saw that all vibrators were on sale for 25% off... but it seems that the stuff from We-Vibe (including the Tango, which I'm pining for) is not. Anybody know what's going on? Is there some fine-print exclusion I'm not seeing?

I intend to submit a support ticket, but I thought I might as well ask here first to see if I could get a quicker answer. :)
    • Actually on the banner on the main page it says that it's not valid for Jimmyjane, Jopen, JeJoue, and some other brands.

Really? I don't see that anywhere. :( I must be looking in the wrong places.

But I got a reply from Megan that confirmed some brands are excluded. Still kind of lame - I see "all vibes" and think "all vibes," you know? It's a bummer, but I suppose it won't kill me to hold off for now. :P Might go ahead and get Fun Factory's UFO instead. :D

  • We-Vibe Tango Vs Salsa
    • The website says that the motors are identical in both, as well as the settings and materials. The only difference is supposed to be the shape of the tip; the salsa is pointed and the tango is lipstick shaped.

Why is it then that the Salsa has five vrooms but the tango has four..? Has anyone held both to compare them?
    • I think the only difference between them is the shape.
    • I think the motors are the same, and the vroom ratings (if I'm not mistaken) depend on how reviewers rate it. Different people may have different opinions on how powerful a given toy is, depending on their preferences, and which toys they compare it to. I think the only difference is the shape of the tip and the colors offered - the motor, materials, charging is all the same.

We have the Salsa and the Touch. They both use the same charger. The Salsa and the Tango are identical products except the Tango has a lipstick type tip and the Salsa is smooth all around. The first time we charged one of them it took about 3-4 hours for the light to go off. Since then, we have used one or the other of them for up to two hours without noticing a drop in power. Hope that helps.

  • Fairy Mini VS The Hitachi Magic Wand
    • What's your personal preference between the two and why?
    • we have only used the hitachi. It is strong on the vibs. I mean strong. We cant use it on high.
    • A comparison between the Hitachi and the Fairy

I came to conclusion that I wanted to join the clit club and buy the Hitachi. But then I discovered the Fairy. I wrote a whole post about them, comparing and decided to get the Fairy wand because where the Hitachi has only two settings the highest setting only goes to 5,000RPM, and with the Fairy? It has more speed control and the high setting goes to 8,000RPM.

To make a long story short?
I say Fairy. Stronger, more powerful, various size heads depending on which Wand you get, more control and cheaper. With the Mini Wand having some real nifty attachments as well.
