All Hail Powerful Uma

This velvety-soft rechargeable silicone vibe delivers strong vibrations and pulsations with a high-quality motor. The only drawback is that one button is tough to use, as you have to push hard in the right spot.

Pros:
silicone, rechargeable, versatile, sexy-looking, very powerful
Cons:
The button that switches pulsation patterns is tough to use

Use

This rechargeable vibe is unusually strong, features different levels of intensity as well as seven very interesting pulsation patterns that can themselves also be adjusted for intensity--a rare feature.

Material / Texture

It's made of velvety smooth silicone, and it's miraculously very low on the lint-attracting index. The toy is seamless, except for around the two metal battery contacts that are also buttons that turn it on and raise and lower intensity. The ring around these appears to be very tight, however, and designed not to let water through.
    • No odor
    • Not porous at all
    • Smooth

Design / Shape / Size

I love the curve of this dildo, which makes it work great when it's inserted for solo play while you are in a seated position: rocking it back and forth in this position will drive you wild. The bulb at the end helps Gspot stimulation and also makes it feel filling while the narrow neck makes it feel comfortable. It's a size and shape that most people would enjoy for this readon.

I also used it externally, and I found the curve to also be amenable to this use.

Functions / Performance / Controls

This vibe has three closely-spaced buttons on the end that gets charged: one + silver button that you hold to turn on and click repeatedly to cycle through increasing intensities, one - slver button that you hold for a few seconds to turn off and that you click repeatedly to incrementally lower the intensity of the vibes, and a plastic button in the middle that is especially hard to decompress and cycles through 7 different pulsation patterns. One impressive feature, which I don't think I've seen in any of the many vibes I've tested, is that you can adjust the intensity of each pulsation pattern with the + and - silver buttons as well as adjust the intensity of the vibes when it's in steady mode.

On the one hand, I appreciate that the buttons are not easy to accidentally use. On the other hand, they require a fair amount of pressure to work, especially the one in the middle that cycles through the different pulsation patterns. The two silver buttons also serve as the magnetic contact points for the snap-on charger connection, and slightly jut out of the vibe. You can feel them slightly clicking when you decompress them. The middle button, however, is completely flush with the surface, but you have to decompress the very small center til it dips just slightly below the surface. As a result, I found myself having to make 2-3 tries before getting it to register my button pushing.

It's not very noisy at all, especially given its huge power, which approaches the Hitachi Magin Wand, but in a smaller, more concentrated package.

It's water proof, but I would be cautious about immersing any motorized toy for long periods if I wanted it to last for many years.

Care and Maintenance

It is odorless and sterilizeable with a 10% bleach solution rub down and a rinse with lots of soap and water. It's water safe, but since it has a motor, it cannot be boiled clean, and I would avoid submersing it for long periods of time in the tub to extend its life.

Never use silicone lube with a silicone product; however, there are tons of water-based lubes that will do the trick and are safe for use with silicone.
    • Easy to clean
    • Easy to store

Packaging

It comes in a nice black box with a top that slips on and off and a compartment at the bottom for storing the charger. It will keep the toy safe and protected, but the box takes up much more room than if the toy came with a drawstring bag and attached pouch for the charger.

There's also a brochure with very basic instructions.

If you're asking about the lifespan of the vibrator, as in, how many years, it's a high quality vibrator and should last for many years, as long as it's well cared for, not overcharged, and depending on how much you use it. If you're asking about how long it will last on a charge, you should read reviews. There should be lots of info in them.

  • Unsteady vibrations
    • I've been reading through the Uma reviews and this is the only reviewer I've noticed talking about a "temperamental motor" and unsteady vibrations that seem to vary not only when pressure is applied but "when they feel like it". Does this user have a defective model or is this something common to the Uma that has just not been noted in other reviews somehow? Has anyone else noted unsteady vibrations in their Uma?

  • Uma vs Gigi
    • Curious about this... if you have both the Gigi and the Uma, can you give a little comparison? I am curious about the almost hook like shape on the Gigi in comparison to the more traditional g-spot head.

      Merci buttocks!

Uma is stronger than Gigi by far. I haven't found any toy that allows me to climax vaginally yet, but I use UMA for external stimulation and am able to climax that way.

  • Uma -vs- Mona
    • Both are similar design, girth and insert-able length. The uma's buttons have been discussed already. So the edge on the control panel goes to Mona. The uma is waterproof though. Who has both and can review them, side by side. I imagine the charge and use time is similar. I suppose it comes down to vibration patterns & strength. What about warranty differences? These toys are so close in every respect.

Ohhhh.... I am keen on this too!!! I've been looking at the Uma and Mona... and I've read all the points you brought up. But I'd love to see them side by side to get more of an idea!!!
    • I like the Mona better. Better controls. The intensity is probably the same

  • Uma buttons
    • hi all! i'm curous about people's thoughts on the button ... i tried them out in a store and my girlfriend and i agreed they seemed a little tough to push. would imagine this is even more of a problem in the heat of things! some of the reviews confirmed my fears on this, but i really love the feel, rumble, and patterns of the uma so i'd love to hear whether or not people think its worth the control issues, and/or if there is a comparable product in anyone's opinion. i should add that i dont find the hook of the g-ki particularly appealing, but perhaps the settings are comparable?
    • From what I've heard, the G-Ki is a bit weaker.

Just my opinion, but I wouldn't let the buttons be a deciding factor or issue. They're not an issue to me, and they do "break in" with use. The pattern button is kind of a pain, but I admit, I never use it.

I'm not sure what would be comparable. LELO's Liv is a similar shape, but I don't think the vibrations are the same and it's a bit weaker from what I've heard. The Vanity line is supposed to be deep and rumbly, but it's very different in form in and control (and no patterns). Form 6 has its own issues.

      Thanks, Chirple!

What troubles you about the pattern button? I'm particularly intrigued by the patterns so it would matter to me how user friendly they are.

The Form 6 certainly doesn't have the same wonderful smooth feel as the Uma, but what other thoughts do you have on its comparability to the Uma?

  • Je Joue releases the Uma!
    • Opinions on the shape? Form factor? Excited to get one?
    • Je Joue rocks. I'm getting one of these. Just debating if I'm ordering tomorrow or when the Ran comes back in stock.
    • I think the shape looks great! Not sure whether or not I want this or the G-Ki. Going to wait for reviews.
