Amazing Power in a Tiny Package

I liked the We-Vibe Touch, and wanted to try another We-Vibe toy. I wasn't sure if the tiny Tango would work for me. I ended up being shocked by how much I liked it! This toy packs quite a punch in it's petite body. It meets or exceed other luxury clit vibes in terms of power and features. It's stronger than any bullet I've felt and has a variety of speeds and patterns, so it would be a great choice to use with a bullet compatible dildo. I'd recommend the Tango to almost anyone.
Published: September 3, 2011
Pros:
Strong, discreet, rechargeable, waterproof, lots of settings, memory, angled tip, fits in dildos.
Cons:
I'd prefer a matte surface.

Use

The We-Vibe Tango is a rechargeable bullet vibrator. It is great for clitoral stimulation, and small enough that it won't get in the way if you use it during sex with a partner. It can be used to tease the nipples or any other external areas. It can also turn a dildo with a bullet hole into a rechargeable vibrator. It's small, quiet and discreet, so it would be a great choice for students, moms, or any one else who needs to hide their toy habit. It's waterproof, so you can take it into the shower or tub. It's also easy to throw in a purse for travel.

Material / Texture

The Tango is made from smooth, shiny plastic. It's non-porous, phthalate free, and has no odour. It isn't the most luxurious feeling material, especially for the price. I would have preferred a matte silicone coating, or at least PU coated plastic to add a velvety finish with a little drag. I do prefer it over the squishy, shiny silicone used for the We-Vibe Touch because I am able to apply more pressure with the hard material, it doesn't attract any dust or lint, and it seems to conduct the vibrations a bit better.

Design / Shape / Size

The Tango is very small; just 3 1/2 inches long, and 5/8's of an inch wide. It's the same width as the High Intensity Bullet or the bullets that comes with dildos. It will fit into a dildo with a standard bullet hole, but about an inch was left sticking out the end of the Tantus dildo I tried it with.

The Tango is too small to be useful for penetration, in my opinion. You definitely wouldn't want to stick it in your butt, because it could get lost. There is a very slight flare to the bottom of the toy, but it doesn't add anything other than maybe making the Tango a little easier to hold onto.

It has an angled tip, which works really well for clitoral stimulation. I prefer a flat, broader surface over a pointy one and the Tango works great for me. You can also use the edge of the tip to get more pinpointed stimulation, if you like to switch it up. If you know you only like pinpointed vibrations, I'd recommend the Salsa instead.

The Tango is really easy to store or hide. It takes up very little space, and it doesn't look like a sex toy. It's more discreet than my other bullets because it doesn't have the obvious button on the end, battery cap, or traditional shape. If I left this on my dresser with my mascaras and lipsticks I doubt it would get a second glance.

Functions / Performance / Controls

Vibrations

The Tango is very strong and rumbly. I was shocked the first time I turned it on. It's right up there with MiMi and Form 2. It blows the Seed, Bcurious, or battery operated bullets out of the water. It seems to have the same motor as the We-Vibe Touch, but feels a bit stronger since the vibrations conduct better through the Tango's hard plastic than the Touch's soft silicone.

The Tango is very quiet for the amount of power it has. You don't have to worry about it being heard outside the room. Since the toy is so small, the vibrations travel pretty equally throughout the length. If you hate vibrations in your fingers this (or most other clit vibes) won't be for you, and I'd suggest something with a long shaft or handle.

The Tango has 4 speeds of steady vibrations, and 4 patterns:
Tease- 9 long pulses, then 2 seconds of fast pulses
Wave- Rollercoaster
Pulse- Fast pulsing
Cha Cha- 2 long pulses, then 3 short pulses

An amber light on the base of the toy flashes in time with the patterns. There is one button, and pressing it repeatedly cycles through the settings. When you reach the last pattern another press turns the toy off. You can also turn the vibrations off on any setting by holding down the button for 2 seconds. It will remember the last setting you used.

Charging

The Tango uses the same charger as the Touch and Salsa. There is a cord that plugs into an outlet, and the other end connects to a small circular charging base. The base has 2 strong magnets that connect to the contacts on the bottom of the Tango. It's similar to Fun Factory's Click N Charge system, Jimmyjane's Form line, or Je Joue toys. I prefer this type of charging because there are no openings, which means there's nowhere for water to get inside.

The manual say to charge the toy for 90 minutes before the first use. Subsequent charges will be slightly quicker. There is a tiny light on the round part of the base that glows when the Tango is charging, and turns off when it's charged. A charge will last for up to 2 hours of use, and the battery will hold the charge for up to 2 months. Unlike some other toys, there's no way to check the battery level. The battery can't be overcharged, so you don't have to worry about leaving it plugged in for too long. It can recharged over 500 times.

Care and Maintenance

Since it's waterproof, the Tango can be washed very easily with soap and water. Plastic is compatible with any type of lube, but you probably won't need any since it's not being inserted and is made from slippery plastic. It comes with a storage pouch, but it's small enough to store almost anywhere.

Packaging

The Tango comes in a white cardboard box with angled sides. It has a simple and elegant design with a picture of the toy on the front. The back of the box has some product features, and symbols indicating that it is carbon neutral and RoHS compliant.

Inside, the Tango and it's charging base rest on a molded plastic tray. The cord is inside a small, inner box.

There is a manual, with some basic information. A lot more information is available on the We-Vibe website's FAQ. The packaging is recyclable.
Follow-up commentary
I still really like this toy, but after many more uses, I do have a new complaint. A few times when I've been using it during sex, the button has gotten bumped and I had to cycle through all the patterns to get back to steady vibrations. I've never had a problem with it during my solo time, and it doesn't happen often during sex, but when it does I find it very annoying. I wish that the button was harder to press, or that at least there were 2 so I could hit the back button once, instead of cycling through a bunch of settings.

How was it in use? Did you have any problems? i heard someone say when pressure was applied it would lower the intensity of the vibrations?

Goth - I didn't have any problems with it during use. I need a lot of pressure, and I didn't feel any loss of intensity when I applied pressure. I do notice that the frequency of the vibrations lowers a little bit when I press hard, but that happens with all of my vibrators.

  • Does the Tango have lights like the Salsa?
    • I was wondering if the Tango has any lights on it like the Salsa does?
    • I have both of these, and yes, it does.

  • We-Vibe salsa/tango vs Lelo Mia
    • well i see 4-5 vrooms vs 3 and i make my choice right there.
BUT the Mia has a usp port charger and is slightly larger.
has anyone tried the two? I have noticed that the we-vibe touch is WAY stronger than the we-vibe 3 but I haven't had a chance to feel either of these great silicone rechargeable bullet type clit vibes.

The Salsa and Tango are both stronger than Mia. Some people say the Salsa and Tango are a 4 but I rated them a 5. Either way, they are both very powerful and should do it for just about anyone when it comes to clitoral stimulation. You got 4 levels of vibrations and 4 "tease" modes with the Tango and Salsa. LELO is a great company but I recommend the Tango and Salsa if you're looking for powerful clitoral stimulation. I own the LELO Siri and I find my We-Vibes to be stronger but they are all nice. To me, I thought the We-Vibe II was a four on the vroom scale. I can almost guarantee you won't be disappointed if you go with one of the We-Vibes :).
    • I love my Mia and the fact that she is USB charged. She's awesome for me. Not super strong but I don't need much. I'm also a bit turned off by Salsa and Tango's controls, but that's just me. I really don't like single button controls on vibes. By the way, Salsa and Tango are plastic, which Mia is also, not silicone.

  • We-Vibe salsa and tango silicone or plastic?
    • I am confused. i was all ready o buya we-vibe tango until i read vbthat it is made of plastic. then i hopped on over to a canadian website and was told that its the same silicone as the other we-vibe products. it certainly looks like the same material
    • The reviews seem to agree that they're plastic.

I have both of these toys and they are both made of plastic. I wasn't into plastic until I seen one of them in action in a store and I was sold. It's easier to clean than silicone which is a plus. It glides nicely on the body. For the strength and functions it's worth it and I got over hating plastic real quick! The We-Vibe touch is silicone so you may want to check it out. I own the We-Vibe II and I plan to buy the touch at some point though I did get to hold each one in the store and the silicone makes the vibrations slightly less intense than the Tango and Salsa but it's still a nice powerful toy and they are all rechargeable, can't beat that!

  • Not on sale?
    • I jumped for joy when I saw that all vibrators were on sale for 25% off... but it seems that the stuff from We-Vibe (including the Tango, which I'm pining for) is not. Anybody know what's going on? Is there some fine-print exclusion I'm not seeing?

I intend to submit a support ticket, but I thought I might as well ask here first to see if I could get a quicker answer. :)
    • Actually on the banner on the main page it says that it's not valid for Jimmyjane, Jopen, JeJoue, and some other brands.

Really? I don't see that anywhere. :( I must be looking in the wrong places.

But I got a reply from Megan that confirmed some brands are excluded. Still kind of lame - I see "all vibes" and think "all vibes," you know? It's a bummer, but I suppose it won't kill me to hold off for now. :P Might go ahead and get Fun Factory's UFO instead. :D

  • We-Vibe Tango Vs Salsa
    • The website says that the motors are identical in both, as well as the settings and materials. The only difference is supposed to be the shape of the tip; the salsa is pointed and the tango is lipstick shaped.

Why is it then that the Salsa has five vrooms but the tango has four..? Has anyone held both to compare them?
    • I think the only difference between them is the shape.
    • I think the motors are the same, and the vroom ratings (if I'm not mistaken) depend on how reviewers rate it. Different people may have different opinions on how powerful a given toy is, depending on their preferences, and which toys they compare it to. I think the only difference is the shape of the tip and the colors offered - the motor, materials, charging is all the same.

I like the way the charger is.. How long does it take to charge && How long befor it dies after a full charge??
    • Quote: I like the way the charger is.. How long does it take to charge && How long befor it dies after a full charge??
We have the Salsa and the Touch. They both use the same charger. The Salsa and the Tango are identical products except the Tango has a lipstick type tip and the Salsa is smooth all around. The first time we charged one of them it took about 3-4 hours for the light to go off. Since then, we have used one or the other of them for up to two hours without noticing a drop in power. Hope that helps.

  • Fairy Mini VS The Hitachi Magic Wand
    • What's your personal preference between the two and why?
    • we have only used the hitachi. It is strong on the vibs. I mean strong. We cant use it on high.
    • A comparison between the Hitachi and the Fairy

I came to conclusion that I wanted to join the clit club and buy the Hitachi. But then I discovered the Fairy. I wrote a whole post about them, comparing and decided to get the Fairy wand because where the Hitachi has only two settings the highest setting only goes to 5,000RPM, and with the Fairy? It has more speed control and the high setting goes to 8,000RPM.

To make a long story short?
I say Fairy. Stronger, more powerful, various size heads depending on which Wand you get, more control and cheaper. With the Mini Wand having some real nifty attachments as well.
