Ami is made up of three high quality silicone balls that are inserted (only one at a time please) into the vagina for exercising your kegel muscles. Each ball is weighted and there are three different sizes for three different levels of exercise.

You may ask wonder why you need balls to exercise your kegel muscles and the fact of the matter is that you do not NEED balls and can practice strengthening them on your own. However, having the balls to use is a good reminder that they need to be exercised, much like tying a string around your finger will hopefully remind you that you have to do something special that day. Strong kegel muscles can help you from becoming incontinent and supposedly give you more intense orgasms.

Although the balls have a 3" cord for retrieval, they are not designed to be used anally.

The balls are mostly made of a very soft and smooth silicone. This silicone is some of the nicest that I've ever seen so far and I really love the feel of it in my hand. I did not notice any drag with this silicone and when I took one out and cleaned it off and threw it on my desk and came across it three days later, I was shocked to find that it had not collected any dust or dirt on it like many silicone products do.

I said the balls are mostly made of silicone because at the base of every ball there is a plastic ring attached which has a 3" plastic cord on it. The plastic doesn't stand out at first glance because they have so well matched the color of the plastic to the color of the the silicone.

Inside each ball there is a weight (the double-ended balls have a weight in each end) which bounces around a bit inside. However, it is supposed to jiggle in order to remind you to exercise.

The texture will work well for beginning or advanced users, however, it is the size that might make this for intermediate and advanced users.

The Ami balls are varying sizes and diameters and the best way to really get a feel for them is to go to the main page and click "view actual size" because while I can give you the dimensions here, it is still hard to picture the size that way.

I found that the single ball was very hard to insert and I did not enjoy using it at all. I did use the smaller of the two other balls and it was my favorite.

I must be honest with you though, I did not find them overly comfortable if I was sitting and I really did not notice a change in my sexual enjoyment and orgasms. It is possible that because I already do kegel exercises without toys that I did not need these balls.

The balls are discreet enough that you could travel with them either in the packaging they came in or just toss them into your suitcase. They don't look like a sex toy at all.

This is such a high quality toy that its so hard to write this part. The silicone is awesome, the packaging is very luxurious and I know it works well for so many people.

However, what I was able to use, did not work well with my body at all. I found the largest ball was too large to insert easily. I used the smaller of the other two balls and found that it was fine to wear while I was walking around the house and doing housework, but when I went to sit down, it was very uncomfortable and hard to remove.

Out of the 30+ days I've had these balls, I've used them 3 times. The days that I used them, I did not notice any greater satisfaction in my orgasms nor did I feel that they tightened my muscles as much as the plain old Kegel exercises I've been using for years without any toys.

If I hadn't been doing kegel exercises for years simply by squeezing my muscles when I go to the bathroom (to stop urine flow) or by simply squeezing them while sitting at my desk, perhaps these would have worked better.

I just did not find them a welcome addition to my existing routine.

Since they are made with silicone, these balls should only be used with water based lube. I suppose you could use them with oil based lube also, but you will want to keep them away from silicone based lubes.

Do not boil these or throw them in the dishwasher to clean them because while they are mostly silicone, they do have the plastic cord and rings. I find them very easy to clean with a bit of soap and water or you can wipe them down with a toy cleaning cloth.

You can pretty much store these anywhere since they don't pick up dust and dirt. I wouldn't store them near other toys that are porous though. You could also store them in the box they come in because it is so elegant and attractive that it can sit on a nightstand. Just don't do what I did and accidentally cover up the box and forget about them.

I love the way Je Joue packages their products. The Ami comes in a beautiful study black box with the company's name on the top in silver. It closes with a black satin ribbon that you tie shut. Upon opening the box, you find the three Ami balls laying in their custom designed plastic holder. Underneath this holder is the booklet of instructions on how to use them.

From the moment you open the Je Joue packages, you know you are dealing with a high quality product.

I've been doing Kegel exercises for years and I think this is why I'm not overly impressed with the Ami. I thought it would make a difference and help me remember to exercise more often. However, I found them uncomfortable to use and easy to forget if I kept them in the box.

I think the most effective use for me would be to hang these above the bathroom mirror or toilet to remind me to do my exercises as I brush my teeth or use the bathroom.

For someone who has not done Kegel exercises regularly, these might be exactly what you need to help you remember to do them.

I'm giving this three stars because it is a very high quality product - but it simply isn't a "necessary" product if you know how to do kegel exercises without a toy.
