An Unintimidating Beginner's Vibe

All in all, the Lucid Dreams Petites #36 can be described as a simple, quiet, unobtrusive vibrator. While this may be underwhelming for some, it's ideal for beginners who don't want too much fuss with their controls and don't want to invest in a more expensive, better quality toy while they're still figuring out what they like.

Use

The Lucid Dreams Petites #36 is a great vibrator for a beginner, so long as their toy actually works properly, which mine doesn't (more on that later). That said, I have gotten a good amount of use out of this toy over the past year, which speaks to its shape and design overall. The Petites #36 is a traditional vibrator without any curves to it, although it is quite flexible. It can be used for g-spot stimulation with a bit of creative angling. The straight, slim design makes it ideal for rapid thrusting, though it works just as nicely for a slower session. It can be used alone or with a partner for equally fun results. The waterproof/quiet vibrations combination makes taking it in the shower or bath a cool idea.

Lack of a flared base makes this a no-go for insertion anally, though it can be used to stimulate the area externally (I'd personally use a condom with it in this case, as I wouldn't want to be using a porous jelly toy anally in any way if I'd later be using it vaginally).

The vibrations are not particularly strong, so this may not be a winner for those who require more intense stimulation.

Material / Texture

The toy is made of jelly, which is lovely, soft, and flexible, but is porous and takes some extra effort to keep clean. Jelly toys shouldn't be shared without using some kind of protection, as they can't be sterilized.

It features a swirl design that candycanes down the shaft, which can't really be felt during use. It's really a very smooth toy. Do take care to pay attention to the swirly groove while cleaning, though. You may want to clean it both before and after use, because the jelly likes to gather all kinds of linty things to stick to it.

I've had my Petites #36 for a year or so now, so there really isn't much of a smell to it at this point. I do recall it having that plasticy jelly smell when I first got it, but how strong it was I cannot really say, the good news here being that time does effectively air it out. I had to put my nose basically onto the toy directly to smell it at all.

Design / Shape / Size

The Petites #36 is just that: petite. It's a slim toy, and really quite pretty to look at with its pink shininess. Very girly, reminds me of candy.

With 6" insertable, in my opinion it's not too short and not too long: not one to go all-out with really deep penetration, I thought it was just the right size. Those who are used to medium or large toys will probably be disappointed, however. This is definitely more a beginner-sized toy.

Another plus side to the smallness is the storage factor. I wrap mine up in a cloth toy bag and stash it in a drawer and voila, all gone. This is useful for travel as well, I'd imagine.

Functions / Performance / Controls

The bullet providing the vibrations is located in the tip of the toy, which I enjoyed because I liked the feeling of it against my cervix. The vibrations travel through the toy moderately well, although because they aren't the strongest to start with, it really isn't a huge range of difference. I favour a lot of thrusting with this toy to compensate for the low vibrations, and the two sensations together are really very effective.

The controls are very straight-forward, with a turn-dial at the bottom of the toy controlling the intensity of vibration. Turning it all the way down past the lowest vibration turns the toy off. It's nice and quiet, and there's never a worry about anyone in the next room hearing the buzzing when I had it on, even if they're creeping at the door with their ear pressed against it. I do enjoy the dial style of vibration control more than distinct level settings, so this is a plus for me. The dial is covered in little vertical ridges, which makes gripping it easy even when hands are slippery with lube.

The Petites #36 is marketed as waterproof and it did indeed keep on goin' under water just the same as it did above water.

Care and Maintenance

As jelly is porous, it should definitely be washed whenever used to minimize the bacteria factor. Warm water and anti-bacterial soap or toy cleaner is ideal. Jelly can't be sterilized, so condoms are a must for sharing. As a rule, I store all toys in their own separate toy bags to keep different materials from reacting to each other. Although the plasticy scent is all but gone from my Petites #36, that didn't stop the smell from rubbing off on another non-jelly toy that was accidentally in contact with it for a day or so. Even more reason to store it alone on its own.

Silicone and water based lubes are both safe to use with this toy.

Experience

My personal experience with this toy was tainted by the fact that the one I purchased was defective and after the first use, the vibrations were quite unreliable and finicky. Multiple times during use, they'd stop altogether or be very on-and-off, and I'd have to fiddle with the dial to get it to start up again, which was distracting and annoying. Despite this and the fact that I'm not a fan of jelly toys in general, I did like the Lucid Dreams Petites #36. It's been retired at this point, as I've definitely outgrown it and there are many better toys out there, but we had a good run.

I love lucid dreams, but I am not a big fan of jelly, never lets you feel the vibrations that well. Thanks for the review.
