Basic vibe-- good for beginners!

When I was brand new to toys, I loved this thing! As the time has passed, it just isn't that great to me anymore. If you just want something cheap and easy, this is a great toy for you. If you're looking for something more exciting or interesting, look somewhere else. This toy just isn't terribly impressive.

Use

I have used the Lucid Dream 8 for vaginal insertion as well as clitoral stimulation. Be sure not to use this for anal insertion, as it's not made for that and is not safe for such a use! You wouldn't want this stuck in your tush!
As I can not reach orgasm with vaginal stimulation alone, I usually use this for clitoral stimulation. However, this is fun to use with a partner (don't forget the lube!). Others may enjoy it for vaginal stimulation more than I do, however. I have never found that I'm very sensitive to G-spot stimulation, so unfortunately this doesn't do anything for me in that respect.

Material / Texture

This toy is Jelly plastic, which makes it more affordable, but I have some concerns about safety since it can't be sterilized. I haven't had any problems with it so far, but if you are opposed to using less safe materials, steer clear!
It has a light artificial/plastic smell to it, which for me has faded to nearly nothing over the years. After about a year, the smell was essentially gone. However, if you directly sniff this toy, it definitely will still smell like plastic no matter how much time has passed. The smell is definitely not overpowering, but if you are particularly sensitive to plastic-y smells, this may be a toy to avoid.

The texture is entirely smooth, and would be suitable for anyone looking for an insertable vibrator. The two bumps at the tip and in the shaft definitely feel nice when used vaginally. However, as mentioned previously, I have no idea how someone who is sensitive to G-spot stimulation might like this toy.

Overall, it's a very simple and straightforward toy; what you see is what you get.

Design / Shape / Size

This vibe is definitely attractive looking. I love the color (mine is purple) and that it's clear. I think it generally looks pretty cool!

The bumps in this toy may work for G-spot stimulation, but again, I am just not receptive to it. However, this is a very flexible toy, so if you need more than just gentle pressure on your G-spot, this likely would bend too much for you.

I found it very easy to insert, and the size should be perfectly suitable for beginners. It's definitely big enough to be plenty of fun, but is not at all intimidating. As it's a very simple toy, and is not all that large, it is very easy to hide. However, if someone were to see it, it's pretty obviously a sex toy, I think, and is really not discreet.

Functions / Performance / Controls

This vibe has a very basic dial to control the vibrations on the base. There are no set levels, just a fluid adjustment between High and Low. I found that the controls were incredibly simple to use and very straightforward.
The dial can be hard to manipulate unless you get a decent grip on it, so if your hands are slippery it can be tough to change the intensity, or turn it off.

This is not a very loud toy. I haven't found that it can be heard through a closed door, but it is definitely audible.

Care and Maintenance

Since the Lucid Dream 8 is a very basic toy, it's also very basic to clean. I wash it with warm water and soap after use, but you could also use your preferred toy cleaner. It's waterproof, but I try not to get too much water on the control dial, just in case.

I keep this toy inside a bag that I made for it, and then inside my toybox. I haven't found that this toy needs any special care, just be sure to clean it after use, and use a condom if you intend to use it with multiple partners.

Packaging

Unfortunately, I bought this some time ago and I don't remember the specific details of the package. However, it came in a box (flexible clear plastic, I believe) with basic information about the toy. I don't recall it having any specific instructions. If I remember correctly, the toy was visible through the packaging.

This is a standard toy, and it was my first one. I would recommend this for someone looking to dive into the world of sex toys. However, I wouldn't really recommend it for someone with more experience since there isn't really anything special about it.

Experience

The Lucid Dream 8 has been a good toy for me; it's fun to use with a partner, and for vaginal or clitoral stimulation. I do wish I was more capable of having some G-spot fun, but that's not the toy's fault! I've found the vibrations to be adequate, but not very strong and therefore, a bit less exciting than it could be. The more experience I have with toys, the less I use this one; it doesn't have anything exciting for me anymore, unfortunately!
Follow-up commentary
Since writing this review, I've packed this toy away. It's just too flimsy to be any real fun for me anymore. When it was all I had, it was great, but now that I have other, better toys I just don't have any desire to use it anymore. And as a jelly toy, the surface has gotten a little bit weird after just about five years of occasional use. Ick!
