MiMi is a discreet vibrator by Je Joue that is recommended to almost everybody who comes onto the Eden Fantasys forum asking for help with finding a vibrator for their clitoris. People rave about how good it is, how deep the vibrations are and how wonderful it is to have a rechargeable vibrator of such high quality.

But every once in a while, there comes along someone who follows the advice of the crowd, sometimes against their better judgement, only to discover that the product they've bought is not for them. Unfortunately, I'm that person when it comes to MiMi.

With this review, I hope to share with you MiMi's awesome qualities that should have made me like it. Then I'll share with you why I didn't like it and why I think it didn't work for me.

But let's start out with the basics, shall we?

MiMi is a discreet vibrator that is made of silicone, is rechargeable and is designed to use for stimulating the clitoris.

It is not designed for internal use vaginally nor is it designed for anal use since it does not have a flared base.

MiMi is made of a super soft, velvety silicone that you can tell is premium quality. It does not have any drag to it that I notice and the texture is just very soft and smooth. MiMi is perfect for both beginner and advanced users who prefer to have smooth products and don't like texture.

MiMi almost looks like a small computer mouse when you first see it. With a length of slightly over 3" and a width of slightly over 2", it can fit comfortably in probably any adults' hand. The top end is rounded and the bottom end is almost flat looking. There is a plastic section on the bottom which holds the two buttons to turn MiMi on (+) and off (-).

In order to turn MiMi on, you need to hold the (+) button for about five seconds. You can press the button again to cycle through each of the five speeds. When you're done cycling through those speeds, continue to press the button to cycle through the five patterns that MiMi has. You can use the (-) button to go back down through the patterns and speeds or to turn MiMi off. In order to turn her off, you must hold the button for four seconds.

Now I would love to be able to go on and on about how MiMi felt and how each vibration felt and how deep and rumbly MiMi is. Others have done this in their reviews and I read them with a tinge of jealousy.

But the fact is, while I can feel those vibrations when I hold MiMi in my hands, I can not feel them when we're trying to use it for clitoral stimulation. More than once, I asked my husband, "Is it on? Are you sure it's on? Can you try a higher setting?"

I don't understand why it just doesn't work for me and I can barely feel it. I can feel it when it is in my hand. I can feel it when I put it against my leg. But when I put it against my clitoris, I want to yawn and fall asleep because I feel almost no stimulation at all.

We tried this a few times just so I could make sure that MiMi wouldn't work for me. The first time, I was not that interested in having sex but we'd just received it that day and were dying to try it. After trying it for over half an hour in various settings, patterns and positions (over the clitoral hood, under the hood, on my side, on my back, etc) we put it aside and decided to try our old standby, the bullet. I was interested in having sex within 5 minutes even though we had tried for over 30 minutes with MiMi.

We tried again two other times when I was more interested in having sex. Once again, after trying MiMi for an extended period of time, we put it away in frustration and went back to a cheap bullet. The last time, I was having an orgasm in under 3 minutes with the bullet.

MiMi is very easy to care for. Although it is made of silicone, you do not want to boil it or throw it in the dishwasher like you would a silicone dildo. Why? Because it has a motor of course. Although MiMi is marketed as being waterproof, I consider it to be splashproof due to the way the controls are on the bottom. I would not want to risk ruining the motor by immersing MiMi in water.

So to clean MiMi, you can use soap and water or a toy cleaner or even a toy wipe. Just wash it down and dry it off and you will be good to go.

Make sure you do not use silicone based lubes with MiMi because it may ruin the soft silicone finish on this toy. Instead, use water based lubes if you need any lubrication at all. This is truly one of the softest silicone toys I have ever experienced and I love the way that it does not pick up lint and dirt.

I also recommend keeping MiMi in the very attractive box that it came in. You can store the charger in the box with MiMi and no one will know you have a vibrator around.

I was extremely frustrated when I first got MiMi. I found myself wondering what was wrong with me. As I told someone later, the only way we did not use the MiMi was sticking it up my butt, his butt, or having me stand on my head and trying to use it that way.

I was upset to the point that I started a thread in the forum called To those of you who kept telling me to get MiMi where I vented my frustrations. Apparently some folks thought I might be angry with them but I wasn't. I was angry with me- and wondered what was wrong with me.

I think I've figured it out though.

First of all, to use MiMi, you must have a hand to use to hold it down and move it around. With a bullet, which was what I was used to, we could literally put an egg-shaped bullet on my clitoris either near the hood or partly under it - and within 3 minutes I was almost ready to orgasm and I would frequently orgasm in under five minutes. I would orgasm many times by grinding my hips together and working with the bullet - but hands free.

The bullet seems to put DIRECT stimulation directly on my clitoris and seems to be a perfect size (if it is an egg-shaped bullet) whereby MiMi seems to give more INDIRECT stimulation. This means that I can't feel MiMi nearly as well as the bullet.

In addition, by having to use my hand, I was distracted from enjoying myself and when my husband had to use his hand to work with MiMi, I was not getting other stimulation which he would frequently give me with that hand.

So basically, MiMi just wasn't meant for my particular body because I needed hands-free direct stimulation and MiMi gives hands-on indirect stimulation.

Once I understood that, I felt much better about my body and about MiMi too.

I originally gave this a one-star rating because I wanted it to stand apart from other reviews so that those who were hesitant about the product would read this review and think about if they needed direct or indirect stimulation. Then I thought about it some more and talked to other people. I hated to give a one-star rating to a product that is high quality and just doesn't work for me due to the type of stimulation I need. Usually, I start out a product with three stars and go up or down from there. So, because MiMi is a high quality silicone rechargeable vibrator - I decided to up the ratings to 3 stars. It did deserve that at least.

However, I ask that anyone who is reading about MiMi and in some doubt about getting it, to ask themselves what type of stimulation they need - whether they need direct stimulation or indirect stimulation. If it is indirect- then MiMi could well be the product for you and you should get it. If it is direct stimulation however, I suggest that you look elsewhere.
