The Day Dream is one of California Exotic's new line of Satin Dreams toys. Let me begin by saying that I really wanted to love this toy, and it does have some fantastic qualities. It offers three vibration levels, although no different patterns. It is water resistant. The box claims it is "whisper quiet", and that quality it does indeed live up to the promise. It is made of soft, flexible TPE elastomer. It has a sexy curved shape with a nub for clitoral stimulation. It's great for solo play, but in my opinion even better for couples play.

The material, as I mentioned, is a soft TPE elastomer, with a hard plastic battery cover/base. It is similar in quality to silicone, but doesn't have some of the issues with breakdown like silicone does. Now, when I say this toy is soft, I mean it is REALLY soft. I can literally bend it in half. I honestly wish I had a higher rating to be able to post a video just to show how soft and flexible this toy is, and am hoping that another advanced reviewer that has video capability does just that. It is very silky smooth, even when you first take it out of the box. There are no visible seams on the product either, and I was really happy with that. It is a lint and pet hair attractant though, so keep that in mind when deciding where to store the toy.

Now for the negative... it's almost TOO soft. This can be a good thing or a bad thing depending on how you use it. It was a good thing when being used in conjunction with my husband. It was so soft that neither of us noticed it between us with him on top, but we still felt the vibrations. So that part was nice. However, with solo play, I really couldn't get it to hit the right places, no matter which way I turned or bent it.

The box says it is unscented, but I did notice a weak nail polish-y smell when held up close. After two washings, it remained, so I don't know if it's just the nature of the TPE or not. I will update over time if the scent diminishes or not. It wasn't enough to be bothersome, and really if you don't actively sniff this toy like I did for the review (what? I'm thorough!), you probably wouldn't notice it at all.

Sizing of this toy is pretty basic. The toy is about seven and a half inches total length, with only three and a quarter inches of that being insertable length. The nub is about an inch in length. The widest part of the toy at the top, is about four inches in diameter. Anyone looking for a filled up feeling or deep penetration, this toy is not for you. It would be nice as a beginner toy though, because it's really not intimidating at all.

The shape of this toy looks like it could be more useful for g-spot stimulation than it actually is. One thing it does lend to, at least with my use, is that once inserted, it stayed in place with minimal muscle use. That was nice.

I do have to say that I like the shape of it. It goes nicely with the product name, as it does have a kind of dreamy appeal to it. While Cal Exotics says this toy is "white" in color, it's really more of a sky blue color, which I really liked. Again, the toy is very aptly named.

The Day Dream has a simple push button control, located on the side of the battery compartment (what would be the top if you insert it with the "finger" on your clit. It's not a hard push, and the button itself is seamlessly integrated into the housing.

It offers three different speeds of vibration, but only one pattern of continuous vibration. This is achieved through what appears to be a bullet vibe embedded in the top of the toy. Even with the highest speed on, the toy is still very quiet. In fact, when inserted, if it weren't for the fact I could feel it, I wouldn't have known it was there. My husband said that about 10 feet away, he couldn't hear it, so it would be ideal for a dorm or shared room situation. I was really impressed with how quiet it was.

The vibrations themselves, while only one pattern, were decent enough. I like a more intense vibration, so the first level most definitely didn't do it for me. However, the first level would probably feel great to a beginner. The box claims that the vibrations can be felt throughout the toy, and this is definitely true, although they are vastly muted the further away from the bullet you get. I could feel them throughout the toy, except for the battery compartment. When the toy is inserted though, the vibrations in the rest of the toy are dampened to almost non-existence. So don't expect a lot of clitoral stimulation when the toy is inside of you, I didn't get very much at all.

The toy is labeled as waterproof, but I don't see any sort of seal or o-ring on the battery compartment... so I would be more likely to call it water resistant rather than waterproof. I wouldn't recommend submersing the toy in the tub or pool for long periods of time if at all, but shower play is probably alright. When washing it, I only noticed a few minuscule droplets around the bottom of the battery compartment. The way this toy is constructed though, I think you'd be alright having a little bit of water there as long as you dried it out before storing the toy. There's a nice buffer spacing between where the batteries actually go and where the edge of the screw top meet the toy. The vibrations in the water held up nicely though.

TPE is a slightly porous material; so for safety sake, it's best to cover the toy if you plan to share. It is also not able to be boiled or sterilized. It does clean up easily with soap and water, and it dries really quickly. Water based lubes would be best with this toy as well.

Storage is probably best in some sort of non-linty wrap, bag, or box, because it does attract lint and pet fur.

The toy comes in a clear plastic box. The toy is clearly visible, and is in its own little formed plastic tray. I wouldn't say the package is discreet, since you can see the toy and it's pretty obvious what it is, but it is pretty and might make a decent gift box at a bachelorette party or bridal shower as long as Granny isn't in attendance!

There is a little blurb on the back of the box, but it's not overly informative, and there is no instruction brochure or anything like that. But let's be honest, how much instruction does one person need for something like this?

You could use the box for storage, because it's pretty sturdy overall, but the kind of plastic that it is is the kind that if you bend it too many times (as in the case of the top flaps) it will probably break eventually.

The packaging is also not recyclable.

Like I said, I really wanted to like this toy. It looks really neat on the site, and it's so new and fancy. Plus, since I'm a newer reviewer, it's the first new toy I've gotten in several years (gasp! I know!). But honestly, it just didn't do it for me. As a clitoral vibe, sure, it's good. It's soft and the vibrations are pretty steady. However, an insertable fun toy this is not. It does live up to many of it's claims though, and if that's what you're after, then this is a great toy. I will definitely keep it around for when I need some clitoral stimulation during sex, because I was really thrilled with how much this toy could be squished between us and still do it's thing.
