Every rose has its thorn.

The Pleasure Petals may seem like a relaxing stroll in a beautiful garden at first but beware of the thorns. I found the texture to be irritating and the noise level made me wonder if a nest bees had found the flowers and were looking to pollinate. It was a good experience but not the bouquet of my dreams.

Use

The Pleasure Petals vibe is your standard traditionally shaped vibrator. My first impressions of this toy were the size and the unique embossed floral design along the shaft. It can be used for internal vaginal and external stimulation though I do not recommend it for anal as there is no flared base and it could get lost. The vibrations are fairly powerful but come at a cost, it requires two C-batteries which make the toy a bit heavy in the hand and also extremely loud. While the design is somewhat discreet it is still shaped like a traditional vibe and due to the noise level I do not recommend this as a discreet toy.

The embossed texture of the toy is more novelty in my opinion, I found it a bit irritating and difficult to clean. Lube and fluids easily got trapped in the nooks and crannies of the petals which required a soap and water scrubbing. The toy is not waterproof so be careful when cleaning. A toy cleaner alone will not do the job to clean this thoroughly.

Material / Texture

The material is a velvety smooth hard plastic with an embossed floral pattern. There was a faint plastic smell but nothing unpleasant at all. I did not feel the need to taste test this vibe. The hard plastic is hypo-allergenic, phthalates-free, and latex-free. It is also not particularly porous.

For me I found that the texture was a bit too much in combination with the size. It is on the larger side and the texture was irritating. Some may find it stimulating though, for a cheaper vibe and one I received for free with another order I can't complain much. It would be a nice place to start for a beginner if you are looking into the large traditional vibes or want to experiment with unique textures.

The bottom is controlled by a dial you turn to adjust the settings which is also plastic. The toy is not waterproof so keep it away from being submerged or using it in the shower/bath as that will ruin it.

Design / Shape / Size

Visually I like the design. The embossed flowers are unique, cute, and very feminine. However they were irritating to me so I don't see myself using this very much. The shape is a traditional vibe, long and tapered at the end and slightly larger near the base. The size is a bit big, it was larger than I expected. If you are a beginner to toys in general I would steer clear of this but if this is your first time testing out this particular shape or want to experience more textures this would be a good place to start. The size may be too much for all around beginners. It is hard to pinpoint the texture exactly as it is so unique, if you aren't sure if this will work for you I suggest giving it a try. It was an interesting experience and I now know what types of textures I do and do not enjoy.

This toy is not very easy to hide or discreet. It is a nice pink color but still obviously a vibrator. You could tuck it into your drawer and keep it out of sight but if you have roommates/parents/siblings/other relatives/anyone you would not want to stumble across your sex toys I suggest keeping it tucked away. There are better toys to travel with but if you really end up liking this one it wouldn't take up too much room in a suitcase, just beware of airport security if you aren't checking your luggage.

The biggest downside to this toy is that it requires C-batteries. Those are large, clunky, and a bit expensive. It drains the batteries fairly fast too.

Functions / Performance / Controls

The controls are very basic, just a dial on the bottom of the vibe you twist to turn it on and adjust the speed of vibration. It is very loud on the highest setting, so loud that I could hear it through a closed door while left under the covers of my bed. The vibrations felt evenly distributed through the shaft and there was enough power near the tip to use for clitoral stimulation as well. It is not waterproof and will be ruined if you try to submerge it in water so be careful when cleaning it as well.

The C-batteries did not last very long and are somewhat heavy in my hand. It got tired to using this vibe and the power didn't last long. I could tell the batteries were running dry when the vibrations slowed down and were not as powerful on the setting I had chosen. On the plus side it did deliver powerful vibrations.

Care and Maintenance

Due to the embossed floral pattern, lube and other fluids like to build up around them and this toy requires a soap and water cleaning. A spritz with a toy cleaner before use is fine but for aftermath cleanup you want to make sure it is well cleaned of any residue. Be careful not to fully submerge the toy in water though as it does not have a waterproof seal.

One great thing is that since it is hard plastic, you can use any lube you choose, even silicone. Since so many toys are made from silicone that are not compatible with that type of lube it is nice to get to use my favorite silicone lube once in a while with a toy instead of just during partnered intercourse.

I store this toy in the same box I put all my other toys. The hard smooth plastic does not attract much lint so I don't feel the need to store it in a satin pouch like most of my stickier or silicone toys.

Packaging

The packaging my Pleasure Petals came in is different from the product page. It was a soft plastic cylinder with the Eden Fantasys logo and a plastic bag around the vibe inside of that. There were the basic instructions including the type of batteries required. The shape of the package itself is discreet even though the print on the outside is not and you can clearly see it is a sex toy. If giving this as a gift I suggest wrapping paper, a gift bag, or another box. I would not store it in the original packaging either, as soon as I opened it up I threw away the soft-shell plastic and baggie it was wrapped in. The packaging was very minimal.

Personal comments

Just because this toy did not totally rock my world it isn't a good one to give a try for something new. It is very affordable and I am glad I had a chance to receive this as a free with purchase gift. It opened me up to exploring new textures and does put a new spin on and old classic design. With all of these innovative luxury toys on the market it is nice to see some variations on something more familiar.

Experience

The texture and size were too much plus I don't like having to use C-batteries. I did still learn more about my body and what I do and do not enjoy though so this product was not a total waste. I doubt I will get much use from it in the future though.
Follow-up commentary
I'm still not a big fan of this vibe. As a new spin on a traditional vibrator, I do appreciate the aesthetics but between the noise level, heavy batteries, and irritating texture, I won't be using this anymore. I have other vibes that I enjoy much more than this. It was a good learning experience for me at least.

Nice review. I didn't expect something so... cute and innocent looking to be so loud. That makes me sad.

Thanks for sharing. I missed this when it was offered free with purchase, but I don't think I'd like it being so noisy.
