Traditional vibrator discontinued

Exactly what you paid for.

The Jewel is a nice little toy and you get exactly what you paid for. Of course, seeing as you didn't pay very much, you don't get a whole lot of goodies. However, it's a great value for a starting vibe or those new to slightly larger vibes. The vibrations aren't super powerful, and it's a little noisy, but otherwise great for beginners. Not good for a size queen.

Nice, smooth shape with a pleasant velvety texture. Fairly easy to clean; just lather your hands up with soap, run your hands all over the vibe, and rinse it with warm water. Since it's waterproof, you don't have to worry about taking out the batteries to wash it or worry about short circuiting it. It's plastic, so it's one of the safer materials out there, but note that this toy specifically isn't phthalates free, so perhaps you might want to use a condom just to be on the safe (or paranoid) side.

The jewels, interestingly enough, act more like a grip to help hold it, than as decoration. That may have been the plan when designing. Note that those little suckers are really stuck in there, so you won't be able to pry them off without completely destroying the jewel.

It's got a twist dial on the bottom to control speed. First off, note that this has to be turned up a bit before it actually turns on (well, at least mine); once it's on, you can turn the power down. So if you want to start light, turn it on and turn it down BEFORE you insert. Otherwise you might get a bit of a rude awakening when you turn it on and it doesn't start until you turn it up past a certain point.

Anyway, the box this came in, to say, is a bit on the lurid side. Because I just *LOVE* seeing a naked porn star on every side of the bright, colorful box my vibrator comes in. And, as Murphy's Law predicts, when I opened the package, naturally, my roommate was in. Needless to say, the presentation of the toy is... lacking in any sort of discretion.

As I'm rather new to vibes (I'm 19 and this, sadly, is my first), I'm not sure how helpful this review will be to veterans. Since this is the first vibe I've gotten, I don't really have anything to compare it with.
Experience
I got this as a way to learn more about what gets me off. I've had one (mostly) sure-fire way, but that doesn't work too well with a partner, so I'm expanding my horizons and finding out what else works.

I did discover, however, that I'm a bit of a size queen, so this didn't really do much to rock my world (though the new sensation of using vibrations kicked my feet out from under me). But for those who AREN'T size queens, this may be just the vibe for you.
Follow-up commentary
My overall opinion hasn't changed one bit. It's still a nice little toy-- just not for me. It's too small for me, personally, but for others it would be just the jewel of your collection. I'm still rather disgusted with the packaging that it came in, and the roommates still enjoy giving me trouble about the fact that I have a vibe. I've only used it a few times (until I decided that it just didn't "do" it for me), so now it's been relegated to the college dormitory desktop for amusement.

Though one time my boyfriend and I were doing homework in the bedroom with the door closed (the roomies were watching TV and playing music!), I decided to put the Jewel's dremel-tool-noise to the use-- I turned it on full blast and held it close to the closed door! I got a pretty good reaction from the roommates, and the two of us got one hell of a good laugh!

I do still like it as a vibe, though; it's a nice, cheap little vibe that gives you great value for your dollar (meaning that "low dollar" equals "kinda low value") and is an excellent starting vibe. Kinda noisy, and not all that powerful are its two big cons. Safe materials, easy to clean, easy to operate turn dial, adjustable speed, waterproof, the Jewel has everything one needs in a starter vibe!

Good review. I'm not really understanding how the dial works, though. Your explanation really confused me!

Ah. Thanks for letting me know about that (I'm always looking for ways to improve my writing, thus, in this case, improve my critiques/reviews)!

It's a twist dial- you twist it one direction and it gets stronger; twist it the way and it gets weaker and/or turns off.
