While I've tried plenty of dildos, I'm still kind of a newbie when it comes to vibrators. My problem has always been that I have an extremely sensitive clitoris, and a lot of times I just don't enjoy the sensation of a vibration directly on it, especially not a high-pitched vibration. Well, with the Pure Ecstasy, I found out that a pulsating vibe was just what I was looking for all along!

I chose this one because I was intrigued by the scoop-shaped tip and the other bumps on the toy. It seems like they would provide a lot of variety. I also liked the fact that this toy has multiple speeds and pulse settings. Additionally, it's made from sanitizable, non-porous silicone, always a plus in my book.

Because of the multiple speed options, the safe material, and the reasonable price, I think this is an excellent choice for a first time buyer. Hell, I'm practically a first time vibrator buyer myself.

The Pure Ecstasy is made from 100% silicone, one of the safest toy materials. Body-safe silicone is non-porous and sanitizable with a 10% bleach solution. The silicone part of the toy is very smooth, with no seams at all. Like other silicone toys, it's very good at attracting hair and lint, so you'll probably want to plan on washing before use, or at least consider your storage options carefully.

While the quality of the silicone itself seems pretty good, unfortunately the workmanship of the entire toy isn't the best. There was a bit of messy gluing on the area between the plastic handle/battery pack area and the silicone. It doesn't impede the use at all, it just looks messy.

I found that the design of the Pure Ecstasy made it great as a clit vibrator. G-spot? Not so much.

As far as design goes, this is a bit of an odd one. I think the manufacturers made some unique design choices, some of which work and some of which don't.

This toy has a bulged shape with a scoop shaped head. The scoop is textured with small nubs. As you can see from the photos on the main product page, this is a flexible vibrator. For some reason, the middle bulge is also a flex point. I don't really understand the idea behind this flexibility. It's not like it stays set in a curve when you bend it. In use, I didn't find that this flexibility was a drawback at all, but I also didn't find it to be useful. It's just an odd feature, but not one that ruined anything for me. If you enjoy insertion, the flexibility may make it more comfortable, but because of the lack of rigidity, this toy isn't very useful for targeting your g-spot.

In use, I found the bulged shape to be very enjoyable, because the curves meant that I could stimulate more of my vulva at the same time as my clit. As I said before, I'm sensitive and I don't usually like too much direct attention to my clitoris. Different than most people, I know.

The scoop also did a good job of curving around my clitoris in a nice way, but because the way the scoop is positioned on the shaft, I found it to be a bit awkward to hold when I was trying to use it like this. In order to use the scoop on my clit, I had to hold the vibrator away from my body at about a 90º angle. Since I generally masturbate in bed, covered with blankets, this angle just got in the way of the blankets. And I need my blankets, it's December in New England, dammit! At any rate, if you live in a place with a more sensibly warm climate, or you're using this toy in the shower, this design might not bother you too much.

I found that this toy also felt pretty good to insert. But keep in mind, this is definitely not a g-spot vibrator. It's no where near rigid enough to successfully point vibrations to the g-spot. However, if you enjoy the feeling of overall vibrations, you might enjoy inserting this toy. You can feel the vibrations throughout the slender shaft. They're not just focused in one place.

Because of the lack of a flared base, please don't insert this toy anally. Using it externally feels good though.

With the Pure Ecstasy, you've got options. Lots of options! My favorite feature in this toy was the range of vibrations and pulsing features it has. On the package, the ten vibrations are listed as follows: High Vibrating, Med Vibrating, Low Vibrating, Step, Hi-Lo, Dip, High Pulse, High Steeplechase, Low Steeplechase, and Low Pulse. Hi-Lo reminded me of the chugging pattern a washing machine makes when it's on spin cycle. Uh, but in a good way! In a sexy way, not in a "oh crap, I should do a load of laundry" way. Anyway, there was definitely enough variation in the pulsation patterns so that I didn't get bored at all. Having a pulsing vibrator is great.

I also really like the fact that this vibrator is nice and quiet. It's actually quieter than the vibration noise a lot of cell phones make, especially the old flip phones everyone used to have a couple years ago. I wasn't at all worried about my roommates hearing it through the door. In addition, the sound is easily muffled by a blanket, although I think someone in the same room would still be able to hear a low buzz, especially on the higher settings.

This vibrator has two buttons: an on/off switch and a function control. The vibrations are ordered weirdly, with the toy starting on the highest setting and then decreasing. So, in order to get to a low vibration setting, you have to keep pressing the button to cycle past the high setting first. But as a plus, when you turn it off, it stays set on the last function you used.

It takes two N batteries, which are included. Unfortunately, this is a slightly hard to find, non-rechargable battery type.

Since this toy is made from silicone, remember to use only water-based lubes.

You can clean this toy with soap and water, or you can sanitize it with a 10% bleach solution. It's waterproof, so you don't need to worry too much about splashing while cleaning as long as the battery case is fully closed.

The packaging is pretty nice. This vibrator comes in a tasteful purple box with a floral and striped design. It's nothing substantial you'd want for a gift or storage, but it's definitely not cheesy or ugly.
