G-spot vibrator discontinued

Frisk Me, Baby

I think any lover of G-spot vibrations will be very happy with this toy, overall. It provides plenty of power and an excellent shape, and though the friction-increasing texture was a negative for me, it may be a great feature for you. Despite its drawbacks, I will be using this vibe again.

Use

The Frisky is part of the Mood collection by Doc Johnson. It's a long, slim vibrator topped with a larger, angled oval bulb. Its main purpose is to transmit powerful vibrations to the G-spot, but it also makes a very nice clitoral vibrator for those who dislike pinpoint vibes, and would probably hit the P-spot well too. (Just be sure to put a Vibrator Enhancer on it for anal play, in order to prevent any chance of it going too deep!) In addition, this vibe could be used to stimulate or massage any external area, such as neck, nipples, navel, testicles, toes, et cetera.

Material / Texture

This vibe is made of hard ABS plastic, and coated with what is referred to as a "Velvet Touch" finish. I have so far been unsuccessful in learning whether this is a coating of an unknown and softer substance, or simply a way of texturing the ABS plastic itself so that it feels like a softer coating. I sent this question to Doc Johnson, so hopefully they'll have an answer for us soon.

Meanwhile, the surface texture is certainly on the velvety side, but the toy is very hard and has no give whatsoever. The fine velvety texture is very smooth and nearly friction-free to the touch of my fingers, but does add some friction to vaginal adventures. There is no flavor, and only a very, very faint scent when placed right against my nostrils. The packaging does state that the materials used in this toy are phthalate-free and latex-free, and that they're compatible with all types of lubricants. ABS plastic is a food-grade material, and is non-porous.

I should note that the color isn't quite as shown in the product photos. The one I received is very much a "Barbie pink" color, whereas the images show its tone as having more purple in it.

Design / Shape / Size

The shape of this vibe is really nice for hitting the G-spot, as well as for easily reaching the clitoris. The egg-shaped tip is about two inches long, 4.5 inches in circumference, and 1.5 inches in diameter, making it about average in thickness for a penetrative toy. This sits atop a drastically smaller shaft, measuring in at just 2.5 inches around and just under 7/8" across; the shaft is 5.25 inches long, and has a uniform thickness throughout that length. Add the one-inch-long cap portion, and you have a total length of 8.25 inches, 7.25 of which are insertable.

The shape, size, and angle of the oval tip, combined with the length of the shaft, made hitting my G-spot as easy as pie. I believe this would be a good size for those new to G-spot toys, or those who don't want something overwhelmingly large.

Functions / Performance / Controls

This vibe has a simple dial on its base for controlling the speed: just turn clockwise to turn on or to increase power, or counter-clockwise to decrease power or to turn off. The dial has a ribbed texture around its sides for better gripping with lubricated fingertips. The speeds range from about 2-4 vrooms, and the noise level from maybe 2 to 3 bees. The vibrations reside in the large, oval tip, giving the mechanism more room to spin and thus giving you a deeper-pitched vibration, of which I'm a big fan. The vibrations do travel well through the complete length of the toy, so if you like higher speeds, your fingers may get a little numb from holding the toy. It requires two AA batteries.

This vibe is also waterproof, which is a high priority for me in a vibrator. It has a white, rubbery gasket between cap and toy, and the cap should be screwed on tightly as it's very sturdy and would be hard to crack from over-tightening. The waterproofing seems to function well, as no water got into the battery compartment; however, it seemed that the pressure of the water on the cap/dial area must have been causing the toy to turn off when I immersed the entire thing in the bath. I've never seen that before, and it did repeat this multiple times. Each time, I would pull it out and tap it or turn the dial, and it would come right back on. Because of this, I'd suggest keeping the cap out of the water or just using it somewhere dry.

Care and Maintenance

Doc Johnson suggests cleaning this vibe with just soap and water. An antibacterial toy cleaner would be fine, as well, but I'd suggest one without alcohol to protect the finish. For storage, I'd suggest a soft surface like a satin pouch, a panty drawer, or your pillowcase. It won't harm your silicone toys, since it isn't silicone, but I'd suggest keeping it away from any jelly-type toys--actually, just throw away any jelly-type toys you have, okay? You deserve better.

This toy is compatible with all lubricant types, so just choose your favorite and go to town.

Packaging

The Mood: Frisky arrives in a very slim black matte box decorated with shiny black swirls and some colorful dots. Most of the front and one side of this box are cut out to display the toy. The toy is protected by a clear plastic insert, molded to fit over the toy.

The non-cut-out side of the box offers five basic features of the toy:

The back shows a checklist of sorts, with differently-colored dots; a solid dot means the toy does not have the feature in question, while a black dot in the center of the colored dot acts as a checkmark for that feature:

This box is not at all discreet and is pretty flimsy. It wouldn't make a great gift package, and it would be really difficult to use for storage.

Personal comments

Doc Johnson's "Velvet Touch" finish feels a lot like the "PU Cote" (which, I believe, stands for polyurethane) on some toys from California Exotic Novelties. I'd feel much more comfortable with this toy if I knew what the "Velvet Touch" is. Without knowing, I can't be sure whether this toy is completely non-porous, and whether it can be cleaned with alcohol.

Experience

I'm a pretty sensitive person, and the lowest speed I could get this toy to stay on at was plenty for me. After some clitoral teasing, and applying a lovely water-based lubricant, I was able to slowly insert the Frisky and move it back and forth over my G-spot. It felt nice, but I would have liked it better if I'd been using a clitoral vibe at the same time. I noticed a lot of friction, or drag, against my vaginal walls with this toy, due to the velvety texture, and I think a slick, smooth feel would have been more pleasurable for me. Before long, I eased it out and sent it back to work on my clit, where it soon gave me a very nice, powerful, moaning orgasm.

So far, I love the depth of the vibrations and the shape of the toy, while the texture and the issue with shutting off under water are sizeable drawbacks. I'll have to practice more with internal use, though, to see if I can get a G-spot orgasm out of the Frisky!

Follow-up commentary
While I still haven't found a good way to use this as a G-spot vibe for me, it does work very well as a clitoral and external vibe. In addition, its long shaft and egg-shaped tip make it a decent upper-back massager! I simply reached over my shoulder with it, positioned it on my sore, tight muscles, leaned back against the headboard for pressure, and turned the dial. Mmmmm. After experimenting with the power level and rubbing my back against it for a few minutes, I felt considerably better.
