Use

I learned the hard way - when breaking up with your ex, make sure to get back the Layaspot. If not, you will find yourself buying another. I initially purchased the Layaspot because it's among the most innocent looking of quality vibrators, and I knew it wouldn't scare away my not-so-toy-friendly partner. Alas, she did admit to some excitement and interest when she first saw it. Fun Factory is already known for its quality products, and the Layaspot doesn't disappoint, even though the price may not be something to sing about. If you are going to have one non-penetration vibrator, this is the one to have. As advertised, the shape makes it perfect for resting against the clit, but let's be even more creative people! It's also ideal for holding in hand and using to tease your partner over any part of his/her body. As a guy I can hold it between my legs behind my balls so it vibrates against my perineum and balls while either masturbating or being pleasured. It can also be placed between you and your partner so you can both feel the vibrations while lying against each other. This is definitely a toy that can be enjoyed by both partners. One especially useful trick I found was to hold the Layaspot against my partner's clit with my palm, while inserting a finger and pressing on the g-spot. It can take some manual dexterity, but it's well worth the effort!

Material / Texture

This is definitely a solid toy, constructed mostly from plastic (but without feeling cheap). The colored insert areas are a rubbery elastomer and provide a nice grippy texture.
    • No odor
    • Rigid

Design / Shape / Size

The design, like other Fun Factory toys, is very elegant and modern-looking. It looks and feels nothing like the cheap novelty trash littering sex stores. You could easily convince someone unfamiliar with sex toys that it's actually a small hand-held massager. There's something about it that makes you want to pick it up in your hand and play around with it.
    • Beginner
    • Discreet look/design
    • Ergonomic

Functions / Performance / Controls

The vibrating motor is located opposite the end with the colored battery cap. The + and - control buttons are very intuitive, as they increase or decrease the strength of the vibration. Perhaps the greatest feature is the pulse/wave feature when you hold down the + button. In this mode, the vibrations vary from weak to strong in a smooth wave-like rhythm. The wave-like sensation prevents you from getting desensitized by a constant strength vibration.

Overall the toy is quite quite, though I wouldn't use the strongest setting with someone directly on the other side of your door. Other than that, it can definitely be used discretely in a household with other members.

Fun Factory advertises the Layaspot as being water-resistant, not actually water-proof. I've used it in the shower, and some water droplets do get past the cap into the battery compartment. I simply leave the cap off so it can dry, and then recap it before storing it. The circular shape of the cap would have easily allowed for an o-ring to truly seal off the battery compartment, and for the price I think it should have been present in the design.
    • Discreet sound
    • Easy to use
    • Multiple settings

Care and Maintenance

Given this is a solid toy that's not being inserted, very little has to be done to care for it. A standard soap and water cleaning if it contacts body fluids is expected of course. Storage is a non-issue, as the surface is mostly plastic and won't pick up lint or dirt.
    • Easy to clean
    • Easy to store

Packaging

The Layaspot comes packaged in a plastic insert within a small cardboard cut-out box, along with a lube sample and instructions. You could re-use the package, but there's no need.
    • Minimal
    • Would make a nice gift

Very cool! This might not be the most useful to women looking for a toy, but is for a gal looking to buy for her guy or a guy looking to buy like you did. I look forward to seeing more reviews from your perspective.

I'll have to remember to grab the toys in the event of a break up lol.

Thanks for the responses guys! Since there are already a bunch of reviews discussing it's use as a girl -LaUr3n-, I figured it wasn't worth trying to repeat them. I was trying to say that it's enjoyable for both partners. Maybe I'll do some editing ;-)

Good review. Particularly of importance is dimensions--how big is it? Where are the vibrations located?

not sure but we have the Laya and the better than chocolate ( the music ed) both have their good points, but the laya is a little smaller and compact. Both were really well tho and the music seting is fun feature!

So my partner and i decided to check out this site and order a bunch of new items. I just ordered the LAYAspot and it should be here friday! Ehh i cant wait! How does everyone feel about this cute toy?
    • reading the MANY many reviews on the toy will give you a good idea about the overall feelings and consensus of the toys.
    • it's nice that there are so many user submitted reviews on this site. it's so hard to choose a toy, especially an expensive one, with only the manufacturer description.

  • LayaSpot Questions
    • So, I just posted a review of this toy on my blog and and am rereading some reviews here. I am seeing some discrepencies and have a few questions for you.

Some reviewers state that this is a waterproof toy but my instructions clearly state that it is only splashproof. Perhaps the instructions have changed? Maybe Fun Factory decided it wasn't really waterproof? If you have this toy, what did your instructions say?

Furthermore, a few people said that they received silicone based BodyFluid with their LayaSpot but I received their water based lube and, again, my instructions said not to use silicone based lube (I believe, can't find them).

Also, I think it's just me but my Layaspot pretty much smelled god awful when I got it. Anyone else?

Just looking for different experiences with these things..

I've heard that fun factory toys can stink to high heaven, and I have no idea why they would because they're supposed to be 100% silicone. I have other silicone toys and they don't smell at all. Maybe it's not the toy itself but the packaging that surrounds it? Sorry I'm not much help, but the smell that people talk about with FF toys is enough for me to be wary of buying one.

I have since pitched my instructions, but I think mine said splashproof rather than waterproof. I got the Toyfluid (water-based) lube, and mine was smell-free! All of my FF toys have been totally odorless, actually.
