Female lube - lubricant discontinued by Evolved Novelties - review by Shanna Germain

This lube says it's designed specifically for women, but it doesn't clarify exactly what that means or what makes this lube so good for female bodies. Personally, I'm pretty sure it will work equally well for both genders, although it probably isn't thick enough for much in the way of anal play.

The product is glycerin-free, and you can use it with condoms and most toy materials, so it's pretty safe. It does contain propylene glycol, which can be bothersome for some bodies. Because it's water-based, it's not fantastic for the shower because it doesn't stick around.

This is a medium-thick lube, which feels very smooth and silky at the start. It stays around for a while, but while it never gets sticky, it definitely stops feeling so slick and slippery within the first minute of use. Oddly, it kind of feels like it turns into more of a lotion or something. Not lubricating so much as moisturizing.

I found that I wanted to reapply it fairly quickly, in order to recapture that earlier sense of slickness. But that's a pretty common experience with water-based lubes, I think.

It has a mild smell, as most lubes do. It wasn't particularly strong nor unpleasant, but definitely noticeable. Because of the smell, I wasn't interested in tasting it, but I did because, you know, science. It's not lovely. If you're going to put your mouth on a lube, this isn't the worst of the lot, but I've definitely tasted better.

As I mentioned, this goes on slippery and silky, and then turns kind of creamy pretty quickly (it actually reminded me of massage candles, as it has that kind of feel to it once you've had it on for a minute or so). Thankfully, it never gets tacky or sticky, and it never became unpleasant to feel against my skin.

You'll probably need to make more than one application, depending on how you're using it. It mostly will come off your skin with a good wipe down, but it will leave a bit of a film. Soap and water quickly takes care of that.

This might be my favorite part about this lube. It comes in a little plastic pump bottle that seems well put together and doesn't appear to leak, even when squeezed. The bottle is just 2 oz., so you could even take it in your carry-on, which is a huge bonus for travelers. The pump gives you just enough to get started without doling out too much, and if you pump it twice, you get enough to really cover an area.

The cap can come off one-handed, but you kind of need two hands to pump it. The good news is that the bottle just rinses right off, so if you get lube on it in the process, don't despair.

The design of this lube is pretty ingenious for secret stashes, small places, and on-the-go portability. It would also make a great stocking stuffer or part of a gift basket.
