Hits the spot

Layaspot introduces a unique concept in the design of clitoral vibrators. The curved shape was truly an innovation. However, in my experience with this, while it was definitely a fun toy, with multiple setting and constructed of body-safe material, there were a few areas in which Layaspot could be improved upon.

Pros:
Curved shape, pulsating settings, non-porous material.
Cons:
Noise, not broad enough.

Use

Right now, this is my favorite external vibe. I use it to stimulate my clit and vulva, occasionally penetrating myself with the round end a little bit. It's really excellent for external use because it is curved to rest against the pubic bone, meaning there's less scooting around of the toy and more all over stimulation. I use it solo, but I think this little guy would be a champ in the hands of any partner.

Material / Texture

The part of the toy that is the base color has a velvety, softer feel to it that I just love. Not only does it feel nice, it gives some really good grip in slippery situations *wink*. The accent elements are made of a harder plastic, which I also like because it provides more intensity and pressure where I want it most (on my clit). Overall, it has a mostly smooth feel to it and the material has little to no odor.
    • Smooth
    • Somewhat porous

Design / Shape / Size

LAYASpot is small and compact, end to end almost exactly the same size as my cell phone (I have an env3, which is slightly smaller than an iPhone). If I wanted to take it with me, it would fit easily into my purse. I really like the way it fits right in my hand. There are little indents on either side that make it really easy to hold Like I've said earlier, one of the biggest pros of this toy is the great ergonomic shape. Not only is it ergonomic in the hand, it's also designed to be ergonomic on your vagina! While I love the way the curve cradles my clit, I often feel like the vibe isn't wide enough and I don't get enough stimulation on my vulva. So, instead of laying it on, sometimes I lay it on its side so that there's more wide-spread stimulation also so that the pressure on my clit isn't too intense. That said, after a little bit of fiddling I found a position that's right for me.

Functions / Performance / Controls

In addition to being my first clitoral vibrator, this was also my first vibe that had pulsating settings. In addition to 6 intensity settings, this vibe also has three pulsating settings. You scroll through the settings by pressing the +/- buttons on the vibe (the button pad also lights up when you turn it on, which is helpful for ensuring that it's off as well as being really cool looking). The buttons take a little bit of force to press, but that usually isn't an issue. The vibrations are concentrated at the flatter end of the vibe, meaning that, again, I had to turn it around sometimes to get the vibrations to hit the spots I wanted it to hit.

While this isn't the loudest toy in the world, it certainly isn't the quietest. The sound is similar to that of a quieter electric toothbrush. I find that soft music is enough to cover the noise, and I live in a place with very thin walls.
    • Lots of variety in function
    • Multiple settings
    • Strong patterns

Care and Maintenance

This toy is non-porous, meaning that it doesn't absorb bacteria. A simple wash with soap and warm water generally takes care of all of your cleaning needs, and because it's non-porous, you don't have to worry about bacterial buildup meaning you can hang on to this guy for as long as it keeps on working. The small size also adds to ease of cleaning and storing.
    • Easy to clean
    • Easy to store
Follow-up commentary
Layaspot remains my go-to vibe even though the shape isn't as perfectly ergonomic as it would seem. It gets the job done, and I'm still in love with the pulsating settings. Out of all my vibes, I'd say I use this one the most. It's great for a simple self-lovin' session free of bells and whistles. The only thing to watch out for is cleaning. For me, there gets to be a little build-up in the crack for the battery compartment. Watch out for that.

not sure but we have the Laya and the better than chocolate ( the music ed) both have their good points, but the laya is a little smaller and compact. Both were really well tho and the music seting is fun feature!

So my partner and i decided to check out this site and order a bunch of new items. I just ordered the LAYAspot and it should be here friday! Ehh i cant wait! How does everyone feel about this cute toy?
    • reading the MANY many reviews on the toy will give you a good idea about the overall feelings and consensus of the toys.
    • it's nice that there are so many user submitted reviews on this site. it's so hard to choose a toy, especially an expensive one, with only the manufacturer description.

  • LayaSpot Questions
    • So, I just posted a review of this toy on my blog and and am rereading some reviews here. I am seeing some discrepencies and have a few questions for you.

Some reviewers state that this is a waterproof toy but my instructions clearly state that it is only splashproof. Perhaps the instructions have changed? Maybe Fun Factory decided it wasn't really waterproof? If you have this toy, what did your instructions say?

Furthermore, a few people said that they received silicone based BodyFluid with their LayaSpot but I received their water based lube and, again, my instructions said not to use silicone based lube (I believe, can't find them).

Also, I think it's just me but my Layaspot pretty much smelled god awful when I got it. Anyone else?

Just looking for different experiences with these things..

I've heard that fun factory toys can stink to high heaven, and I have no idea why they would because they're supposed to be 100% silicone. I have other silicone toys and they don't smell at all. Maybe it's not the toy itself but the packaging that surrounds it? Sorry I'm not much help, but the smell that people talk about with FF toys is enough for me to be wary of buying one.

I have since pitched my instructions, but I think mine said splashproof rather than waterproof. I got the Toyfluid (water-based) lube, and mine was smell-free! All of my FF toys have been totally odorless, actually.
