Hugs vibe by Doc Johnson

I was so excited when my box came in with my new Hugs Vibe. The moment I pulled the Hugs out and felt that wonderful Velvet Cote, I was in love. All the hype about how wonderful it feels doesn’t do it justice. I wanted to cuddle up to it and snuggle, it was so soft! But of course, I had other plans for my new friend.

The battery compartment has little plus and minus signs etched into the surface, kindly taking the guess-work out of putting them in. The cap is easy to screw open and closed, but very difficult to open by accident. Unlike some vibrators of similar price, the waterproof seal really is waterproof, and you don’t have to break your hands screwing it down.

I was impressed by the power the Hugs put out with such low volume. The lowest setting, which was great for teasing, was almost silent under the covers, but even the highest setting won’t be heard through any doors. The levels are perfectly placed for me, from a low tease up to "I’M CUMING!” It’s a great shower buddy, because the water easily downed out the noise. (and a few stray moans!)

That yummy Velvet Cote feels absolutely divine gliding over all sorts of sensitive areas during solo or couple play. With all those nice vibrations centered at the bulb, clitoral stimulation gave me multiple orgasms as fast or slow as I wanted them. The shape is absolutely wonderful for insertion, too, though it never gave me an orgasm from just penetration. I had to have the vibrations turned all the way up to get much out of them internally, but I didn’t have the problem of stopping the vibrations by clamping down too hard; there are few things more frustrating than starting to orgasm and feeling the vibrations fade. I also never found the cute heart-shaped button getting in the way or being pushed accidentally the way some do.

Cleanup was a snap with a nice non-porous waterproof toy like this: warm water, anti-bacterial soap, and you’re good to go! The only problem I found was that when using spray-on toy cleaners, the soft coating didn’t come as clean as when it was used on other toys or when I just washed the Hugs, so I’ll stick to standard washing. Being warned by other reviews, I washed it a few times in a row to see how the Velvet Cote held up. There are a few spots around the screw-cap that started to loosen, but as long as you’re careful and patient (if something sticks, don’t scrape at it!) it should hold up pretty well. This one will stay at the top of my toy box for a long time!

A while ago, I had to finally get rid of this vibrator. I would have written this follow-up sooner, but I couldn't bring myself to badmouth such a devoted friend. The vibrations were wonderful. They were quiet, too. The shape is something I've been trying to find in another toy ever since, and have not quite found. I loved her so much I named her Layla, and precious few of my toys ever get names. Her rubber cote is soft, and velvety, and absolutely luscious... but when it started to come off, I had serious reservations about putting this toy anywhere near my precious pussy! As I mentioned in the original review, I was disappointed that after a few gentle cleanings the coating started to come off. By the time I stopped using this toy, there were scratches along the entire toy from the seams of the cloth bag I stored it in, and from gentle washings with antibacterial soap and a soft cloth. I babied this toy, and was appalled at the deterioration of the coating. As no one else has mentioned this issue, I can but assume that the issue was with the particular one I received, but is a possibility to keep in mind. As she aged, there was one other issue with my dear Hugs vibe. That lovely silence so many of us have touted declined. The last time I used her, the rattle was closer to 4 bees than the original 2, and that was with thicker rechargeables, which shouldn't have had as much room to move around. RIP, my dear Layla the Hugs Vibe. You were a beloved orgasm-friend. You fit me like no other toy has, your vibrations were just right, your softness was divine, you never slipped out of my hand in the shower. I have one last thing to say in favor of this lovely little vibrator. It was my first toy that was not a glorified bullet on a stick, and I have had many more toys since, of many varieties. However, as I have never found its like in plastic, glass, jelly, or silicone, I am coming back full circle to the temptation of purchasing a new Hugs, crossing my fingers for a better coating this time around.
