I Am Talking Literal Tears of Joy, Seriously!

Heard about Kegel exercises but could never find the time to practice them with your busy schedule? Well, your problems are solved! Smartballs are discrete and wearable anywhere, anytime. Best tool I've found yet and the results may bring tears to your eyes.
Published: November 27, 2011
Pros:
Automatic Kegel Exercises, very transportable, easy to use, easy to clean.
Cons:
At first they felt a little too big so lube is a must which can be messy.

useful review
So, I am a Kegel nut. The moment I read about Kegel exercises I was hooked. I researched. I tried my best to practice tensing my pelvic floor muscles. Yes, like everyone else I started by stopping that stream of urine one day just to know what muscles to flex. I used to zone out while waiting in line, trying to concentrate on tensing and holding, which can be pretty embarrassing when your number is called at the deli and you have this far off look in your eyes. I even bought a few exercise products that demanded I lay down for thirty minutes while concentrating on squeezing a plastic arrow together. The point is, while I may be a beginner with sex toys, I am no fool when it comes to Kegels. Which means, when I read the description of what the Smartballs Teneo Duo is supposed to do for my Kegel routine, I simply had to buy it.

The Smartballs Teneo Duo (I was going to abbreviate, but that would be STD!), is two balls, roughly the size of ping pong balls, attached by smooth silicone with a long stretchy silicone loop at the end. While I just compared them to ping pong balls, they are no where near as light. These balls have some weight to them, which makes holding them inside the vagina more of a workout. It doesn't stop there though. Inside each ball is a smaller ball that kind of jiggles when you shake it, or say when you walk around with them tucked inside. The reason the design is so genius this: when those little balls jiggle around it convinces your pelvic floor that, frankly, you have to urinate, causing your muscles to tighten on their own. Automatic Kegel workout. If I had something like this for my abs, life would be perfect!

You can slip the Smartballs in, of course leaving that stretchy loop dangling on the outside, and practice tugging on the loop while clenching to keep both balls inside, or you can just wear them around the house while you do your daily routine. Another suggestion, you can put them in and let your partner tug in little jerks on the loop. You accomplish both Kegel practice and foreplay and it makes the whole experience even better. There really isn't much to describe about the Smartballs. It comes in a variety of colors, the silicone is ranked on EF as a 10 in safety. It is heavier than expected, but not heavy heavy, just has a little weight to it. There are a few shallow ridges, but the texture really didn't bother me. Now, I am new at toys but not new to sex, so I may not be as sensitive as some. I had to use a little lube to get that first ball in there, and keeping them in was not an issue at all for me, but I haven't given birth and I have practiced Kegels off and on for a little while now.

Smartballs clean up well with toy cleaner or soap and water and I kept the packaging as a means of storing them. I like to clean them before and after use. Also, just a note, while I am not one for butt play I do have to warn those who are to NOT use these in your ass! They are not made for that particular orifice. They are not shaped properly and the little handle for removal is just too small and stretchy. You don't wanna be the one in the emergency room with jiggly balls stuck up your ass.
Experience
Yay, this may be only my second review, but sharing my experience has already become my favorite part.

So, I loved working with the Smartballs on my own. I put them in before I started my regular workout and it was wonderful. I have also worn them while grocery shopping. Little funny at first, but all around kind of fun and I was able to accomplish two tasks at once.

However, the real fun was when I let my partner get involved. I slipped the Smartballs in during foreplay, an act which he found sexy in and of itself, and then he jerked on the loop causing the little balls to jiggling while he went down on me. That was so marvelously distracting I almost couldn't keep my grip on the balls.

He also used a vibrator, both to tickle the clitoris while he tugged on the loop and to lay on my stomach which vibrated the Smartballs even more.

For one, after all of this clenching and releasing and vibrating I was so primed for sex it was ridiculous, and secondly the Kegel exercises really do make orgasms so much more intense. You probably won't believe me, but it was so good it actually brought real tears to my eyes. No joke! Literal tears. I have never cried during sex before, but this was intense.

I am also SO much more aware of my body. It was pretty awesome being able to clench around him and feel everything. Best. Purchase. Ever.

Who has time to lay down for 30 minutes several times a day to practice their kegels? I suppose if some one was recuperating at home or something. There are lots of other products like this available. Have you tried any of these others? Thanks for the great review.

Like this, no. I had gotten various squeeze together type products which all demanded far too much time to use. I totally agree that a half an hour for kegels is ridiculous! I find it hard enough to fit in regular cardio throughout my week.

I should add though, that basic core building exercises do help towards strengthening the pelvic floor. Particularly moves like the Bridge where you lay on your back, knees bent with feet flat on the floor, and thrust your hips upward.

Also, if you are just tensing and releasing while you wait somewhere, like while in line or at a stop light, it helps to think of your muscles as a lift. You start out at the lobby and as you tighten the lift goes up floor by floor. I try for around ten, and then slowly release down. Works really well with the Smartballs inside too, adding a little extra effort which helps build strength.

  • Have you tried these or something similar?
    • I'm curious to hear about how long (daily and over the long term) you wore them, and what the results were. Could you tell a difference?

I'll be interested to hear people's responses to this. My understanding is that they can be worn all day. But when I try to wear any toy for a prolonged period of time (more than 1 hours) I find that I get dry and the toy gets uncomfortable and I have to take it out.

As for telling a difference: I try to remember to do some Kegel exercises a few times a day, and I've noticed a difference since I started. Since these toys are a Kegel exerciser, I assume that if they do what they're meant to do, then yes, you would be able to tell a difference. These are at the top of my wishlist right now. Maybe I'll get them soon and I'll be able to give you an answer myself!
    • never tried them. Looks cool though

  • Choosing The Right Ben Wa Balls For Your Anatomy
    • So, this is a general question for all the women out there. I recently purchased Fun Factory's Smart balls Teneo Duo and they're my first set of ben wa balls. I spent quite some time analyzing the different types of ben wa balls and felt comfortable enough purchasing the ones from Fun Factory after the great reviews. Now that I've gotten them and tried them a few times, I'm sort of disappointed and left wondering if I'm doing something wrong (since many others seem to love them).

For me, the balls are very cumbersome to insert. The product isn't huge by any means. I own vibrators with a larger circumference than the Teneo Duo. Yet, everytime I've struggled to insert them (even with lube). Additionally, I can't feel any vibrations or movement. I know they're not necessarily supposed to be arousing. But, I literally can't feel anything. While, when I hold them in my hand and move them slightly, I can feel the movement without a problem. So. I'm looking for advice from any women out there.

Should I have started with smaller sized ben wa balls? Does the material of the balls make a difference in sensation (metal vs. silicone)? Any advice would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

I have both the original Smartballs and the Teneo Duo. I can offer some personal insight into one of your problems, and will take a stab in the dark at the other.

First, as to insertion, my stab in the dark is: are you using lube and inserting the balls one by one? This toy needs lubricant, as its silioone creates a lot of friction and "drag." I swab some lube on the top half of the first ball, and a little around the neck of the second. I also find the finger insertion grip to be useless for the first ball. You have to hold the first ball on its own and pop it in there, then use the finger grip for the second.

As to the vibrations, my personal experience is that I didn't feel them at all when I first started using the smartballs, but the sensation improved as my grip did. I didn't find that the vibrations stimulated involuntary muscle contractions or gave me a passive workout out of the box. I had to use them for a couple of weeks and do a lot of deliberate squeezing before the process got more automatic.

Your mileage may vary, as everyone's anatomy is different, but my advice would be to give it a couple of weeks of daily wear and see whether your opinion changes. I love mine now and feel that they provide a PC muscle workout that is superior to kegel exercises sans equipment.

      Hope this helps.

So the sensation improves over time? I've never been impressed by any balls, because I can't feel them. I think I'll take your advice and try to get some regular use out of mine so maybe I can see what all the fuss is about.

  • What's the difference
    • Between the Smartballs Teneo duo and the regular Smartballs
    • Quote: Between the Smartballs Teneo duo and the regular Smartballs
The regular smart balls are smaller in diameter and circumference. So pick which one you think would be more comfortable for you.
    • The Teneo Duo are also made out of silicone, while the regular Smartballs are made of Elastomed.
