Recently, I was given a chance to order the Groovies Wave for free. Since my traditional vibrator has something weird going on with it, I don’t use it at all. I figured, for free, this would be worth a try.

Groovies Wave, by Shaki Toys, is manufactured exclusively for EdenFantasys. The toy is made of ABS plastic with a PU velvet coating, so it is hard, yet kind of soft and slippery feeling. It is phthalates and latex free, so it should be safe for people with allergies. It can be used with any type of lubricant. I would recommend using a condom with this toy if it will be shared, regardless of it being a hard, non-porous material. This has a very faint smell to it, though I can’t notice it unless the toy is held in front of my face. The Wave is waterproof, so it can be used in the tub or shower as well as on the bed or couch.

The Wave measures about 5 1/2 inches long, with about 4 of that being insertable. It goes from 2 1/2 inches around to 3 inches where the bigger waves are. I was kind of expecting something larger, though I really prefer it being this size. Batteries (size AAA and not included) are inserted through the base, with the positive terminals towards the toy’s tip. Red, purple, and clear rhinestones decorate the base of the toy. The power button is located on the bottom of the base.

This is packaged in a simple clamshell plastic case. The paper insert lists the 8 vibrating functions, as well as materials, what size batteries the toy uses and how to insert them, and washing instructions. There aren't any pictures on the packaging, so this could make a good gift.

I have used the Groovies Wave both internally and externally as a massager. It works great to massage erogenous zones, though I did not find it enjoyable at all when my boyfriend used it inside my vagina. At first, I thought the rhinestones were rubbing up against my skin and irritating it. My boyfriend says he had it in only past the second wave, so it must have been the vibrations that were irritating me. They don’t seem too powerful for me, though this toy seems like it buzzes more than other toys, so I am guessing the vibrating piece is not a bullet. I would not recommend using this anally, since it does not have a flared base.

The vibrations are strong, though not overly strong. There is a pretty good range of vibrations, which can be changed through the black button on the base. Holding the base for 3-4 seconds turns the toy off.

Functions:

1. Teasing (Low constant vibration): Very gentle vibrations that can barely be heard. A closed door would muffle the sound.
2. Flutter (Medium constant vibration): More powerful vibrations that can be heard. Some blankets and a closed door would muffle the sound.
3. Buzz (High constant vibration): A very powerful setting. The vibrations can be heard through a door and blankets, though music should still muffle it.
4. Rollercoaster: This one goes from low, to medium, to high, then starts out again at low. The highest vibrations of this function are loud and can be heard through a door.
5. Long pulses: Medium vibration pulses. These are pretty powerful and loud. This one causes the base to vibrate in a way that will be heard easily through a door.
6. Short pulses: Very quick, short medium vibration pulses. These are a bit gentler than the longer pulses and are not as loud.
7. Intense buzz: Much more intense than the buzz setting. This one makes my hand feel all numb and tingly and is VERY loud. Good luck using this one without anyone hearing it.
8. Mixed pattern: This one basically puts together a cycle of each of the first 6 functions. Each part of the cycle runs for a few seconds, and then switches to the next section. This one is also very loud.

I have only used this on the first setting, since the rest are too powerful or loud for me to handle. Most of the noise comes from the base, even though the vibrating piece is in the tip of the toy.

This is very easy to clean. Soap and warm water will clean it, as will toy cleaner. The Groovies Wave is safe to store with other toys, though I prefer to keep it in its original packaging. This keeps it clean for its next use. Batteries should not be stored inside of the toy, as they will wear out faster and can corrode inside of it.
