iTap G-vibe - g-spot vibrator by Cal Exotics - review by Avalein

This is a vibrator from California Exotics as part of their recently developed iTap line. This line is comprised of toys that are controlled not by buttons, switches or dials but the touch of your finger. Specifically, the iTap G-Vibe is a slender vibrator with a dramatically curved head intended to massage the G-spot. It has five different types of vibration: two constant speeds and three pulsating rotations. It comes in pink, white and purple velvet-cote plastic material. Because of its slender size, this would be a non-intimidating toy for beginners to G-spot stimulation.

The material of this toy is plastic velvet-cote, which I have found to have quite a drag on the skin, so lube is almost always required for me. It is a very soft velvety material that is phthalate-free, easy to clean and inexpensive. It feels wonderfully soft on the skin but can require a bit of lubrication upon insertion, due to both the texture and the dramatic curve of the head. I have found only a slight plastic odor and taste that dissipate upon washing it.

I thought that the design of this toy would help to stimulate my G-spot since I've found I need firm and accurate pressure, and the slim design allows it to be manipulated and adjusted easily. However, I found that the point at the end of the toy was a little too dramatic and I would have preferred something with a more bulbous end for comfort. At times it felt like I was being annoyingly poked rather than pressure over my whole G-spot, however this may be a bonus for those that are trying to find their G-spot because when you do run the tip over it you will know. Unfortunately this was not much of a thrusting toy for me because I have a rather shallow G-spot but it was great for pinpoint stimulation.

When your fingertip (or palm, or blanket, or leg...) brush the end of this vibe, be prepared. The vibrations are loud, quite strong and carry well throughout the length of the toy, but are focused on the end. There are five total vibration patterns with two constant speeds and three pulsating patterns.

2. High vibration
3. Pattern: buzz-buzz-buzzzzzz
4. Pattern: bzz-bzz-bzz-bzz
5. Pattern similar to above but alternates between high and low vibration: BUZZ-buzz-BUZZ-buzz

I am someone that enjoys constant vibration rather than patterns so I kept the vibe on its first setting. I did notice that after 15-20 minutes the curved end can get quite warm. Nothing that would burn you but you can definitely feel it. I thought that the touchpad controls would be easy to use, and they are, but tend to change at the worst possible times when you forget to not touch the end. I hoped that holding my finger on the tip would stop this but that just lead to more erratic changes. I compromised to simply holding onto the shaft and using it for pinpoint stimulation rather than thrusting. If you have a deeper G-spot, this may be more frustrating for you as it will leave you with less to hold onto at the base of the toy. Also, the smooth plastic base can get quite slippery with some lube so even the firmest grip may slip.

This toy is not waterproof, so keep it out of your shower and bath.

Because of the smooth surface, cleaning is easy and fast. I simply wash with soap and water, dry with a towel, spray on Anti-Bacterial Toy Cleaner and rub dry. I store it in the box that it was packaged in, although it is safe to set it next to other toys since it doesn't interact with other materials. Since this toy is compatible with both water-based and silicone-based lubricants, wash well after using silicone lube if you are going to store it with silicone toys.

The iTap was packaged in a rather conservative white box with pink lettering and a floral background. It states that the iTap has "Revolutionary Touch-Sensitive Technology... No Buttons... No Switches!", "Touch Activated 'G' Vibe, just Tap 'n' Go!", "Velvet-Cote". Inside the box, the vibe was in a clear plastic bag (sorry, no storage bag here!) with a tri-fold instruction pamphlet on how to insert the batteries. I use the box to store this and my one other velvet-cote toy.
