Impressive Vibe
This vibe offers fabulous power encased in attractive soft silicone. It arrives in decidedly upscale packaging and is every bit a luxury vibe. I think it is worth the higher price tag and would purchase this again.Published: January 22, 2012
Pros:
Relatively fast charge time (2 hours), Super-soft silicone, Easy to clean
Cons:
Buttons (settings) are difficult to change when toy is in use
Touted as one of the most powerful vibes available, I can attest to the fact that this vibrator is incredibly powerful. Even the lowest setting has a powerful thud-thud-thud, the higher settings are increasingly powerful and the transition between each setting is smooth (provided you can work the buttons, but more on that later). Speaking of smooth, the Uma is incredibly soft and made of silicone. This means that it is velvety, but also means that silicone lubes are not compatible with this vibe and that is a shame since silicone is my go-to lube and the velvety texture (which, again, I adore) kind of necessitates the use of some type of lube.
In regards to scent, there is a faint plastic smell, but it isn't anything that is a turn-off. In fact, in order to detect the plastic scent, I have to literally place the Uma under my nose.
Despite the powerful vibrations, this vibrator is still surprisingly fairly quiet. While you can hear it under the covers - it certainly won't wake the kids and I doubt that it's use will be detected by other adults with my bedroom door closed. The Uma doesn't use batteries (yippee!!), it has a charger that charges the unit in two hours. The product manual states that two hours of charge time yields two hours of play. I haven't verified that claim, but according to my experience, that seems about right. Another thing I like about the charging functionality is that a red light blinks when the unit is charging -- when it's done charging, the light stops blinking and stays red, so there's no guessing or trying to recall what time you plugged it in. Yet another benefit of the Uma is the ease of cleaning: warm water and soap and a quick dry with a towel, and you're all done -- no funky grooves or crevices with which to be concerned.
In regards to size, the Uma is what I would consider to be in the medium range. It's bigger than a bullet, but certainly not unusually large. It's overall length is about 7 inches, insertable length is about 4 inches. The diameter is 1.25 inches. It has a gentle curve designed to hit the G-spot. Personally, I find this to be a fabulous clitoral stimulator and find myself returning to that area again and again.
My biggest complaint with this vibrator is the location of the buttons: the are at the very end and it takes a little more pressure to change the vibe setting than I would prefer. I think, however, that there may be a learning curve with this, so I'll have to update this review in a couple of months.

Uma vs Gigi

Curious about this... if you have both the Gigi and the Uma, can you give a little comparison? I am curious about the almost hook like shape on the Gigi in comparison to the more traditional g-spot head.
Merci buttocks!

Uma -vs- Mona

Both are similar design, girth and insert-able length. The uma's buttons have been discussed already. So the edge on the control panel goes to Mona. The uma is waterproof though. Who has both and can review them, side by side. I imagine the charge and use time is similar. I suppose it comes down to vibration patterns & strength. What about warranty differences? These toys are so close in every respect.

But I'd love to see them side by side to get more of an idea!!!

I like the Mona better. Better controls. The intensity is probably the same

Uma buttons
-
hi all! i'm curous about people's thoughts on the button ... i tried them out in a store and my girlfriend and i agreed they seemed a little tough to push. would imagine this is even more of a problem in the heat of things! some of the reviews confirmed my fears on this, but i really love the feel, rumble, and patterns of the uma so i'd love to hear whether or not people think its worth the control issues, and/or if there is a comparable product in anyone's opinion. i should add that i dont find the hook of the g-ki particularly appealing, but perhaps the settings are comparable?
-
From what I've heard, the G-Ki is a bit weaker.
Just my opinion, but I wouldn't let the buttons be a deciding factor or issue. They're not an issue to me, and they do "break in" with use. The pattern button is kind of a pain, but I admit, I never use it.
I'm not sure what would be comparable. LELO's Liv is a similar shape, but I don't think the vibrations are the same and it's a bit weaker from what I've heard. The Vanity line is supposed to be deep and rumbly, but it's very different in form in and control (and no patterns). Form 6 has its own issues. -

What troubles you about the pattern button? I'm particularly intrigued by the patterns so it would matter to me how user friendly they are.
The Form 6 certainly doesn't have the same wonderful smooth feel as the Uma, but what other thoughts do you have on its comparability to the Uma?

Je Joue releases the Uma!

Opinions on the shape? Form factor? Excited to get one?

Je Joue rocks. I'm getting one of these. Just debating if I'm ordering tomorrow or when the Ran comes back in stock.

I think the shape looks great! Not sure whether or not I want this or the G-Ki. Going to wait for reviews.

Thank you for viewing Uma – vibrator review page!

Not a bad review but I think you could have benefited from adding more information. For example, you said "some lubes are not compatible with this vibe". It would have been much better if you said WHAT lubes don't work. This is EXTREMELY important especially because this vibrator is made of silicone and using a silicone lubricant will degrade it.
Thanks for the review. I have my eye in this one. I like that it is so powerful.
Thanks for the review.

Thank you for your review of this simple, but NOT inexpensive toy.
Thank you!
