I’ve been interested in kegel exercisers for years. Kegel balls were actually my second sex product that I ever owned. I’ve had my fair share of kegel exercisers, some better than others. When Je Joue (French for “I play”) came out with their version of kegel exercisers Ami (French for “friend”) I was beyond eager to own it.

When I finally got my own Ami set, I was very happy with the packaging. At a certain stage you expect nice packaging, and Ami doesn’t disappoint. The outer box is a deep plum colored cardboard. It elegantly has “Je Joue” and “Ami” written on the top of the box. This means that if you leave this out, no one is going to suspect you put what is inside the box inside your box. (Heh, sorry I couldn’t help myself). The inner box is a black thick cardboard that just says “Je Joue” on it. The top is held together by a ribbon and once again can be left out without issue. When you open the box you have a booklet of instructions and then there are the three balls all set in their place. Yep, each exerciser has its own little section that each exerciser sits in. Super adorable and easy to store. Much less of a headache than other products for storage.

There are three exercisers all made of silicone (including the chord!). The only plastic part is the connector that connects the chord and the exerciser. I do not know what the inner ball material is made of though-

Ami 1- This is the round ball. It is on the larger side which is the ball you are supposed to start with if you haven’t used kegel exercisers before or are out of practice (according to the booklet). Length (not including chord) is 1.4 inches.

Ami 2- This is the rounder hourglass exerciser. It is longer and fatter than the Ami 3. The length (not including the chord) is 3.15 inches. The middle connected part is squishy and has give/movement to it so the thing is not too stiff.

Ami 3- This is the smaller, heavier hourglass exerciser. The middle connector once again is squishy. This one is small, coming in at a length of 2.75 inches (not including the chord). This is the most advanced exerciser in the set.

The nice thing about the booklet is that it not only tells you what good strengthening your kegels will do for you, but gives you a lowdown of each exerciser and how to use them. Honestly, this is one of the best instruction booklets I’ve ever seen. One way to use this to actively exercise your PC muscles is to clench your muscles for five seconds, then relax for five seconds. Repeat ten times. I’ve done this, but I’m more likely to just wear them doing my daily activities which works just as well. Due to the body safe material and just overall comfort you can wear these for hours with no problem.

Cleaning them, just use soap and water. If you want to boil them, the instruction manual only recommends boiling for 20 seconds. If you’re not sharing though, it seems like they recommend the soap and water route more. That’s what I’ve done.

I recommend these more than any other exerciser I’ve tried. They are made of silicone which is a huge plus, but beyond that their chord is silicone too! Too many times have I seen a body safe exerciser with a thread chord. This makes sense, those don’t. You’re getting three exercisers which means you can really work your way up and strengthen your PC muscles. One of these will work for you as opposed to buying one exerciser that may be too big or too light or even too heavy. You choose what feels right for you. Who can argue with that?!
