Joy Pad: Not Bad, But Not Amazing Either

The Joy Pad is dual stimulating vibrator from Dorcel. It’s silicone and feature 10 functions of vibrations and pulsating. It’s very flexible and has the potential to fit many anatomies, but its size might be a little much for some.

Use

It's big!

The Joy Pad is a fun dual stimulator vibe by Dorcel. It has 2 motors that can deliver 10 functions of vibration and pulsation to the G-spot and clitoris. It’s very flexible and should be able to fit most body types. This toy is on the larger side, and it may be a little intimidating to beginners or those who don’t like bigger toys.
Because of its shape and size, there shouldn’t be any worry about this toy getting lost if you choose to use it anally.
This toy says it’s water resistant, I’m assuming it’s not fully waterproof, only splash proof. Because of this I wouldn’t take it in the shower.

Material / Texture

The Joy Pad is made from a lovely, deep pink silicone and the handle is made from ABS plastic. Both silicone and plastic are non-porous and body-safe, neither of these materials will harbor any harmful bacteria as long as the surface of the toy is kept clean.
I love the silicone that Dorcel uses for their toys, it’s matte and feels very luxurious and smooth. It’s a nice balance between firm and squishy, and there is a pleasant amount of drag toy so it will collect a little bit of lint. When using a lubricant with this toy, make sure it’s water-based. Silicone-based lubes can have a bad chemical interaction with silicone toys which can damage the material and ruin the toy.

At the base of the silicone shaft is a section of shiny pink plastic which is what the battery cap screws into. The cap itself is made from a velvety, dark gray plastic and the control pad on it appears to be made from the same pink silicone that the shaft is.
The shaft is very smooth, except for a slight seam that runs up the middle of the shaft, but I can’t feel it when I’m using this toy.

Design / Shape / Size

Joy Pad Measurements

With its curved design, the Joy Pad is meant to have an insertable length of 4” and a circumference of 5 1/8” around the bulbous head and a shaft circumference of 4”.

Joy Pad head

The Joy Pad is flexible and can be straightened out a bit. When the Joy Pad is flexed, the shaft has a length of 6 1/2” before the ribbed portion of the toy. The whole silicone portion of the toy measure 9” of the toy’s unstretched 11 total inches.

Joy Pad - Flexible

The Joy Pad has two motors; one in the bulbous head of the toy to provide internal stimulation and one for clitoral stimulation, which is located in the ribbed portion of the shaft.

Battery compartment

The Joy Pad is powered by 4 AAA batteries which fit into a cartridge that is placed under the screw cap at the base of the toy. Getting the cartridge and cap put together correctly can be a little difficult at first. There is an arrow to direct you which end of the cartridge needs to go down into the toy, but then there is a little tab on one end of the cartridge that makes it so that it can only fit in one particular way.

Also, the lid doesn’t really screw on like you would typically think, it just takes a little tiny turn and the cap will fit snugly in place, it just seems a little awkward because I would think there would be a little click with this kind of screw cap to tell you when to stop turning it.

Functions / Performance / Controls

Control Pad

The Joy Pad has 10 functions of vibration which are controlled by 4-way control pad located on the cap. I sometimes feel like the buttons are a little awkward to push because of the control pad, and sometimes you won’t be pushing the button, even though it feels like it. It’s not a huge issue and the controls just take some getting used to. Also, if you insert the toy like it’s designed to be used, the control pad points away from you. So it’s not easy to look down and see the controls so you can figure out what you’re doing. Most likely you’ll have to get used to working the controls by feel.

There is a + and – buttons that turn the toy on and off and control the intensity. Then there are two other buttons that have images of what resemble tear drops on them. These two buttons will cycle through the 10 different vibrating functions.
To turn the toy on press the + button and the toy will turn on at the lowest constant setting with only the motor in the middle of the shaft running. You can then use the + and – button to change the intensity, and there are 4 levels of intensity to choose from.

Something I really like about this toy is that once you get into the patterns you can still toggle between the four levels of intensity. So you can take any of the different modes, and then choose what intensity you would like; low, medium, high, or extra high. It seems about half the toys out there will give you pulse patterns, but no options to vary the vibration strength.

Once the toy is on you can use either of the two function buttons to scroll through the patterns. I’ll be describing the patterns I cycle through while pushing the top button in the photo.

1. Constant vibration in only the clitoral motor.
2. Constant in only the tip motor.
3. Alternating pulses between motors.
4. Faster alternating pulses between motors.
5. Both motors pulsing: short, short, long, short, short.
6. Both motors pulsing very quickly
7. Both motors pulsing: long, short, short, short.
8. Both motors pulsing; short, short, short, then two even shorter pulses.
9. Clitoral motor doing long pulses and tip motor alternating between 1 and 2 quick pulses in between.
10. Constant vibration in both motors.

The clitoral motor is significantly stronger and louder than the one in the bulbous head, and that keeps this toy from feeling too strong or overwhelming.
If you keep pressing the button once you get to the end, you’ll be taken back to the first setting, and you can go through the patterns again.
To turn the toy off at any time press and hold the – button for a second and the toy will turn off.

This toy is on the noisy side; this is because the louder motor stays outside the body and isn’t muffled at all. I’d rate the noise level on this toy at least 3 bees.
    • Lots of variety in function
    • Multiple settings
    • Strong patterns

Care and Maintenance

Cleaning the Joy Pad is super simple. Because it’s smooth and water resistant I just take mine to the sink, spray it sown with toy cleaner and then rinse it off. If you prefer, you can also use soap and water or toy wipes, and because its silicone you can also use a 10% bleach solution to sanitize it.

I recommend taking the battery cartridge out of the toy while it’s not in use to keep the batteries from possibly getting drained or leaking while in storage.
    • Difficult to store
    • Easy to clean

Packaging

The Packaging is simple, but it looks nice. The Joy Pad comes in a white box that has a full size image of the toy on the front. Both side of the box have an artistic black and white photo of a lingerie-clad woman.
The back of the box features some basic information about Dorcel along with a graphic of the toy that shows where its motors are.

Side and back of box

When you open the box, you’ll find the toy sitting in a clear plastic tray, along with instructions. The box is a little large and bulky, so I don’t use it for storage.
    • Minimal
    • Not discreet

Experience

This is the second toy out of the new Dorcel line that I have purchased. The first Dorcel item I bought was the Too Much vibe, which has become one of my favorite toys. I had a lot of hope that I would love the Joy Pad just as much, but unfortunately this toy didn’t live up to my expectations.

When I took the Joy Pad out of its package, I was shocked to see how big it was. It was much larger than I expected, but I didn’t feel it was an issue because I have a number of larger toys and don’t mind the size.
After I started using it though, I realized it just didn’t quite fit me right. The portion that’s designed to be inserted is a bit longer than I would have liked, it ends up way overshooting my G-spot. To get the external portion at the best angle for me, I have to fully insert the internal portion, which is almost impossible to do unless I’m really turned on. So I have to sacrifice one way or another; I can either have the internal portion comfortably inserted and not get the full effect of the clitoral stimulator, or I can have clitoral stimulation, but then I have to force the internal portion. Neither of these options are fun.

Another problem I have is that the clitoral motor is rather loud and it’s very distracting for me. I also find that the vibrations are broad and not particularly stimulating to me. I would have preferred having a stronger motor in the internal portion as well.

Unfortunately this toy didn’t cut it for me, but I’m sure it could be a great toy for other people. I would recommend this toy if you can handle longer lengths and you’re a fan of broader clitoral vibrations.
Follow-up commentary
I never ended up finding a way to make Joy Pad's shape work for my body. It was just a little too long and bulky to hit the right spots. And on top of that I found the noise factor to be too distracting. I ended up passing this toy on, but I still enjoy other toys in this line, such as the Too Much vibrator.
